AS I remember they struggled convincing the independent music press of the credibility due to Dave Stewars influence.
Why that should matter,I dont know but such is the ways of pretentious music journalists and indie music fans.

that rap reeks early 90s, that same flow everybody was also doing. no hating though. i love curve. when i was getting into shoegaze, through loveless, whenever i listened to soon i would think to myself "i wish they had an album going in this dancey shoegaze direction". i had no idea i was gonna come across curve and that was exactly their formula. i love doppelganger and pubic fruit ever since.

That's an interesting take on things, Mr Bosh. Whether you're right or wrong I cannot say, but in the case of the Manics versus Oasis, yes, totally how they were promoted, I think. How successful in Germany were Blur or Pulp (as some of the other leading 'Britpop' bands of the era), or I dunno, The Wildhearts (as contemporaries of Terrorvision - I was more into The Wildhearts myself, but a good friend of mine loved Terrorvision), do you know? I'm genuinely curious.
What makes the record company put loadsa money behind promoting some bands overseas rather than others. One could argue that Oasis are as quintessentially British as could be, so why promote them so much elsewhere in Europe, when the music of other bands would've travelled more easily?

Ok, so I've been listening to Curve's songs tonight (discovered them today, it sounds crazy I know) and how can they be compared to Garbage is beyond me, really. This woman's voice is haunting and their music has a dark feel that Garbage never had and never will have. I'm sorry for Shirley Manson but Toni beats her a hundred times over, no doubt about it.
I never liked Garbage except for a couple of songs but Curve is a mix of rock, shoegaze, even goth, they had everything.

I remember hearing this on the radio. Found out they were playing a tiny gig at The Shakespeare Inn in Derby and dragged some mates down. Bought the new issue of NME in my lunch break and they'd stuck Toni Halliiday on the front cover and named the EP as their single of the week. We sat in the pub that night, only to be told that the band cancelled the gig with an hour's notice, based on the strength of the NME coverage. Couldn't blame them. Gutted though. Can only imagine watching them play this in a tiny room with about 40-50 punters, all within touching distance of the stage. Wall of sound?
