Wife called me at work and told me the 19 yr. old dryer is broken and we need a new one.... did some research... watched your video... borrowed an Ohm meter and found that it was the Thermal Overload fuse... cleaned the dryer... oilded everything and hopefully we will get another 19 yrs out of it.. I owe you a beer man! Thanks for your very informative video. These days, every lil bit helps and man, you helped tremendously!!!

This was the best repair video I've ever seen. I have a dryer problem and the landlord has sent the same man twice. It heats awhile and then quits. Personally, I think he's replacing the thermal fuse without checking to see if the thermostat is defective first. He has been here twice and has yet to take the back off of the dryer. You made this look easy, explained every move, and your cameraman/woman is AWESOME!! The little blond "toehead" offering to help along the way was precious!!

I was able to repair the thermal overload (the little white plastic thing on the back) I was about to go get anouther dryer but thought to check utube and you were there, God bless you. I also was able to clean out the inside after taking the drum off.Without your info I was looking at 500.00
Rigged my dryer where the thermal fuse failed and am keeping an eye on it until the part arrives in the mail. Thank you for helping me save $300 on a new dryer.

Thanks for posting this video. You just saved me from buying a new dryer or having someone come out to fix mine. I only needed to replace the thermal fuse, which cost me about $5.
Great video. I had already pulled my dryer apart and couldn't figure out the direction for the belt tensioner. After watching your step by step video it was a breeze.

The Sears website has diagrams for those washers and dryers. Lesson learned by buying that New Zealand stuff. Have fun getting parts for it too.
Can not thank you enough for this video. My dryer is making a squeeling noise and I know it is either the pulley or the rollers. My bet is it just needs a good cleanout and oiling. It is practicularly brand new..everything works fine except for this annoying noise. I plan to try the repair and will let you know how it worked for me.

Great video, fast and concise! Only problem is I needed to see details on the idler pulley and the belt and the video in that section both putting on and taking off the belt is not very good. To you it might be because you know what you're doing, but it's just not clear to me. Thanks for doing this video, the rest of it was very helpful.

Bob if the lint filter is inside not on top like the one you are servicing is everything still in the same locations? ( Thermal overload ...) I think this is my problem ... wife turned on it ran then stopped would not re-start then next morning she started it and it stopped again will not re-start ... can hear timer ticking for about 15 seconds then that staops as well ... thanks for posting the videos on maintenace very thorough clear best video I've seen on any "fix it video"

You mentioned on the heater to check the resistance but you didn't say what good and bad are. Correct me if I'm wrong. You want for there to be continuity (or no resistance) across the thermal fuses. If there's no continuity or the resistance is infinity, you need to replace the fuse.
Great video man,a little too fast for my taste but good, also its a good idea to make sure the back seal is not caught and its running true or it will shred over time plus the heat will get out.

Hi Don. I have a question about a new use for a used water heater. I have to replace one that is leaking. I suspect it is a leak due to corrosion and is likely at the base of the storage tank. I need a vertical tank that I can fill with oil and heat to about 176 - 200 degrees F. I'm wondering if I can take the tank jacket off, find the corrosion damage, cut out the damage and weld in filler. Then reassemble the tank and use it for my purpose. I'm considering safety, of course, both about the repair I have in mind, as well as the heating aspect. Any comments you'd like to suggest?

BTW, I should have noted that I plan on cutting off the top of the tank so that it is open.

Terrific vid. Extremely helpful... Are solenoid coil models interchangeable? For example part WPW10328463 is one piece. If it burns out, could a two piece set be used (part 279834 for reference)? Or should that particular dryer use what it originally came with? Thank you!
Checking resistance, what readings will you get or are you just looking for a short?
Check your motor. Check power to motor. There are vids about how to check them on here.
I have a whirpool that will not do anything! I am going to check the thermal overload, if that is not it what else would cause nothing to work? Thanks

I've reset the non-resetable thermal overload fuse (?), the one higher up above the heating element, a few times and I've replaced as well. We get about 4 loads done before it goes out again. All venting is clear and the exhaust temp is right around 150. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

my whirlpool knob that allow you to change from heavy cycle to light load has cracked were it connects to the machine so it won't allow me to change cycles. I decided to take the knob from start switch and it allowed me change to heavy cycle. But the back panel by the start switch sparked...we immediately stopped and unplugged it ....any ideas

A simple design of a dryer on the inside and how it works and yet we pay a ridiculous price on how it looks on the outside.

How do I know my timer is bad and if I can conect it direct?
Ive checked my fuses and they work good, but my Dryer still doesnt work.. I was told its possibly a timing belt thing or a wire thats burnt how do I know what wire to check? Or what could be the problem? I dont want to hire someone... lol

I have a Maytag dryer which starts and runs for maybe 5 seconds and then shuts off. It has an electric burning smell. I replaced the thermal fuse and the heating element reads 10 ohms. Could it possibly be the motor?

Hello I have a comercial dryers that are one of bottom and one on the top model Mlg33pdaww the top dryer works like suppose to be but the bottom she turner on the tumble normal but she not getting electricity to the gas pilot and gas coils I checked me self the best I think but still I can't make she works it's any body there be able to help me with this issue
