    In this bouldering progression video, I map out three years of climbing from beginner, to intermediate.
    I wanted to share my climbing progress from when I first started, to climbing my first V4 boulder in Fontainebleau so I delved into the climbing archives to find some footage from 2014-2017 - I really hope you enjoy!

    love this video I'm almost 1 year into climbing and i'm doing maybe v2, V3 ( In paris we don't grade the gym boulders but we color code), and sometimes I feel people progress so fast (V5-V6 in the first year!). Is nice to see someone progress at my pace and that's really a strong climber! love you channel

    Loved this video. I binged a lot of your bouldering videos a couple months ago when I had COVID, and finally felt inspired to start bouldering regularly myself. :) I was starting to get discouraged that my progression wasn't going as quickly as I wanted, but it was nice to hear your journey to know I'm still on track :)))

    This is such a great video! Really reminds you that everyone starts somewhere and progressing takes time and work. Also, good to know I’m not the only one that had a silly inexperienced fall that ended up getting me a badly hyperextended elbow! Great video

    I don't exactly know why but this video made me feel a lot of different emotions, it's fascinating to hear about different people's journeys. The part about climbing getting you involved in actually taking care of your body definitely hit home ahah. I love how kind and understanding you are towards your past self and seeing the progression is soooo satisfying!

    I love this video. I’ve been climbing for 3 years and I’m at v4 level, and I’d been feeling bad that maybe I wasn’t progressing like I should be. But this helped me realize everyone has their own process and story. I think you’re a great climber so if I grow at the trajectory you have, that’s fine by me! Thank you for sharing your story :)

    I think describing getting into climbing as a pivotal moment in your life resonates with a lot more people than you think and is definitely not cheesy (or at least not to me). Digging through old climbing footage definitely conjures up different types of feels. Congrats on the progress, looks like you have come a long way.

    • @hannahmorrisbouldering
      @hannahmorrisbouldering  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks very much! It’s been great looking back at the footage and seeing the journey.
      Climbing is such a big part of my life it’s hard to imagine it not being there! I think the climbing bug definitely gets you good and for so many people it really is a lifestyle rather than a thing they do a couple of days a week.
      Thanks for watching and commenting. 🥳

      @@hannahmorrisbouldering I always tell people it is my meditation, which I feel like they dont understand because it exerts so much physical energy which seems the opposite. However, similarly to meditation, it requires being present, focusing on every part of your body, your mental strength, and you have to not be distracted by worries or thoughts. The second your mind wanders, you are off the wall. Kind of like meditation for ADHD people like myself, haha. It has fulfilled a need I didnt know I had, and everything else has fallen in line around it. Been subbed for a while, just catching up on videos from people I have missed the past while. Keep it up, you clearly put a lot of effort into your videos and it shows.

      @@SendStory hi! this is really late but I just wanted to say that I completely get the whole meditation thing. my brain pretty much never rests and I always have multiple thoughts going through my head, but when I'm on the wall I'm so focused on the problem that the world goes quiet. i love the feeling and is why I'm still climbing. I'm not making as much progress as someone climbing for as long as I have is, but I try to tell myself that it doesn't matter because I'm doing this for myself and not just for progression.

    • @SendStory
      @SendStory 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@user-bt3wm1gd8w glad to know others feel the same. I can't imagine where I would be without climbing. Progress doesn't need to look like moving through higher grades, it can just be how climbing feels, or how you move, or how much more focused you feel. Maybe you aren't climbing harder grades, but I'm sure there is lots of progress under the surface. If you find peace when climbing, climbing harder grades is maybe the cherry on top, but not the end all and be all. Thanks for the reply and happy to hear you are climbing for the right reasons.

    took me 9 or 10 years before i tried filming myself (was too embarrassed which now seems dumb)... wish i had footage of the early days. esp when i’m stuck on a plateau and feeling like i’ll never get any better

    • @hannahmorrisbouldering
      @hannahmorrisbouldering  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wish I'd been less self conscious and filmed myself more! I've found it really useful to look at footage of myself climbing my projects - it's helped me to understand what I'm doing right and wrong.
      I also felt embarrassed (and still sometimes do!). I think it's natural, but people are just thinking about what they're doing. :)

    I've had my unfortunate fair share of pulley injuries and have learned that active rehab is pretty crucial to minimize the time it takes to recover. It of course depends on the severity of the injury but after consulting a professional, he or she usually gets me on a plan that has me using a finger board / tension block within a few weeks. Take all of this with a grain of salt, but there's a lot of passionate professionals who are actively thinking about how to best manage climbing-related injuries!

    • @hannahmorrisbouldering
      @hannahmorrisbouldering  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, definitely! I’ve had a fair few niggles in pulleys since and have always tried to keep climbing on them even, staying very conscious of how I’m loading them. I definitely think after the initial injury/inflammation has had a chance to settle, stressing my fingers in a controlled way has helped me to work through injuries more quickly!
