  • In this 'pro coaches amateur' video, join me for a morning training session with GB Climbing Coach Be Fuller. I headed down to Volume 1 to get the scoop on Be's best tips and techniques for more efficient climbing. She very kindly introduced me to some of her techniques for efficient climbing movement and shared some exercises and drills I can be incorporating into my training to see improvement in my climbing.
    A huge thank you to Be for sharing her wealth of climbing training knowledge. If you're thinking about looking into climbing coaching, I highly recommend booking a session with Be.

    I think this is the most I've ever learned from a single video. I think I'm way stronger than the grad I climb at, I've been doing calisthenics for a few years now, never realized how inefficient my movement really was.

  • @aspuzling
    @aspuzling 2 ปีที่แล้ว +185

    The inside flag is so useful and so under-used. This is a great demonstration of when to use it vs the outside flag. I find it really useful when you have to reach high on small footholds and you don't have the option to swap feet.

    • @hannahmorrisbouldering
      @hannahmorrisbouldering  2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I definitely didn't realise just how much I under use it until this session! Definitely going to be looking out for applications in my climbing. :)

    climbing efficiency coaches are going to be the future because at this point everyone seems to be stronger than what they should be climbing. This woman is the boss for showing it so clearly, and she's very professional aswell.
    I never thought about this difference between the inside/outside flags, i knew they both existed but i thought they served the same purpose so i've stick with the outside for everything. I'm sure gonna try the inside one and give it a good chance. Thanks Hannah!

    This is the most insanely good climbing technique video in the history of youtube. I am well on the wrong side of 60 and need to avoid bicep abuse to maximise the years of climbing I still have ahead of me. This is about the fifth time I have watched it in the past couple of years and I keep getting more out of it.

  • @Mysticfateee
    @Mysticfateee 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    This right here i why i keep telling people "anyone can do bouldering" if you lack the strength then you require more technique, people like myself who have the strength often use it to compensate for the lack of technique. This video is incredibly informative and i'm definitely going to try and use these techniques when i go climbing next, i'm still fairly new and i think i may have accidentally used the hip swing into the wall a few times. Hopefully i can get this ingrained into my head while i'm still new so i can save my strength and boulder for a longer period of time

    Wow, so good to see someone who wants to focus on climbing efficiency and becoming a truly better climber. @@hannahmorrisbouldering credit to you as well for even wanting to improve your climbing this way. Most people never even consider technique but instead focus purely on strength, which while important, isn’t nearly as important as crafting stellar technique. Great video Hannah ✌🏽😃👍🏽

    This was such a refreshing watch. Brilliant coach, could listen for hours, and really nicely edited. The 25 minutes went by in a flash. I would imagine using the support arm as a lever through the entire movement feels awkward, but your movements look so dialled and effortless that way.
    For sure gonna apply these drills in my next sessions. Compared to Be, my biceps-dependency makes me look like a brute gym rat misplaced on a climbing wall. :o

    I wish I could get a lesson like this because I feel like being such a large climber there are a lot of things that most climbers do that I should be doing differently but I don’t know what I should be doing. Nobody makes technique videos for people over 200 lbs and it is sometimes pretty frustrating having no clue how to use my strength in an efficient way.

    • @StudioHannah
      @StudioHannah 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can climb at over 200lb you must be STRONG! That’s awesome! I can see how you might need different techniques. I climbed with a friend recently (first time, very new at this) who is half a foot shorter than I am and also very thin, and it was amazing how differently we had to solve some of the problems, not because she was shorter, but because I was heavier. She’d shimmy up certain areas that were a lot harder for me because I had to carry more weight, even though my reach was much longer.

    Really love the way you break every move down to its minute detail and explain the basics behind it so well. Techniques that can be incorporated easily because it's made easier to understand. One of the best contents available on internet. I'm an enthusiast of this sport and I aspire to get into climbing and hence plan to join a climbing gym soon. I'll surely follow this channel closely as I get into climbing. Keep up the great work!!
