I could not agree more than Vince Carter himself. The Elbow Hang left everyone speechless such as Shaq, Steve Francis, Jason Kidd & even actor Michael Keaton himself.
Orlando Woolridge in the 1984 contest, the first time someone ever did a through-the-legs dunk; Terrence Stansbury’s “statue of liberty” 360 dunk in the 85, 86, and 87 contests.

That Honeydip dunk from Vince Carter is legendary. Not his most memorable dunk tho. That Olympic jumping over the dude dunk cemented Vince's status as the greatest dunker of all time.

Vince in 2000 was the last time you were hype and up out your seat for a dunk contest. There’s been a couple good ones between then and now but most of the LEGENDARY DUNKS came from 04 and before. There’s only one dunk that was memorable and cemented as a Legendary dunk after that time and that’s the Aaron Gordon/Zack Levine contest from 2016 where he did the under the butt seated dunk. Everything else was flash in the pan stuff.
Aaron Gordon’s under the seat dunk over The Mascot should easily be number one. He not only cleanly jumped over a person, but a person with a costume mask on which made it harder, and he literally folded himself in half, 8 feet in the air to make that dunk. He had the best one for sure. The athletic ability that took, couldn’t be matched by anybody on this list except maybe Lavigne.

I agree, since i've been binging every dunk costests earlier, and i gotta say that the lavigne vs. Gordon duel in 2016 is the best dunk contest of all time. They raised the bars so high that every other dunk contest after it looks ordinary.
Edit: also gordon should've won it that year, that sitting on mid air dunk alone seals it
Vince Carter is the greatest Slam Dunk competitor of all time but the best competition was between Zack Levine and Aaron Gordon hands down
I love Vince but idk if Vince could beat either in their prime. Lavine and Gordon have both threw down some crazy dunks in the contest
@@duncanrogers8542 it's tough to say. I always say the greats from any era would have adapted to today's time. I truly believe that Erving, MJ, Wilkins, and Carter would have all been performing similar dunks to Levine and Gordon if they all would have been in their primes at the same time. That would have been an unreal dunk contest. But I still think Levine would have taken the crown in the end.
@@DomSr MJ and Vince can do dunks either one foot or two foot. They have higher ceiling compare to one foot or two foot exclusive dunkers if their creativity permits them to do so.
Aaron Gordons dunk is probably the best dunk contest dunk we have ever seen. Dude was literally sitting in midair at Rim level.

The Reverse 360 windmill by VC was easily better than the elbow dunk.
He only did a 180 from the time he jumped, until the time he dunked... the other 180 came afterwards... which I don't think should count, because once the ball goes in, anything that happens afterwards seems irrelevant
Always thought that elbow dunk was over-rated but I can't dunk an oreo cookie so 🤷.
I think people tend to under-appreciate the elbow dunk. Like, there's a reason ppl in the crowd (as well as the players) had that reaction. Like, it's not flashy, nor is the difficulty obvious at first glance, but when you step back and think about what he just did, it's fucking impressive. You gotta have legit hops to be able to get your elbow IN in the hoop.

The crazy thing about Jordan's dunk was how much airtime he really had. The dude could've literally taken off BEFORE the free throw line and still make the dunk.

It's Vince Carter. It's ALWAYS Vince Carter. Why? Because he cast a shadow on that contest so wide that 22 years, a 100+ NBA players later and we still talk about how good he was whenever it comes around. His name is synonymous with this contest. A few come to mind, but everyone knows where the game changer happened.
All I have to say that this was just Slamming good!
Vince gets number one on the list for the collection of dunks he did in one contest, unlike some of the people on this list. VC pulled a Statue Of Liberty dunk while spinning 360 THE WRONG WAY. If you can get your hands on the footage of this contest take a look at it 👍🏾

Nice selection and rate , BUT i still think Superman D. Howard bounce behind the board dunk is Freaken Awesome , and Air Jordan"s flying free throw line dunk are best Top 2.
Dominique Wilkins was the greatest dunker of all time in my opinion. The thing was with him is the dunks he did in the contest,he pulled off in games in traffic. Kemp and Carter are the most powerful dunkers I've ever seen, they just threw it down with authority.
Wilkins did like 4 dunks every year for 3 years straight. You getting booed off the court if do a “strong” but regular windmill

As for the question they asked before Dee Brown's dunk, I HAVE seen a blindfolded dunk, two as a matter of fact. Cedric Ceballos of Phoenix put on a black blindfold and dunked to win the contest in 1993. After a rule against using props was passed, Baron Davis of the Charlotte Hornets attempted one using his headband as a blindfold, but failed to complete the dunk.

1. Vince Carter - best dunker ever! Whole carrer like McGrady playing for "wrong" team
2. M.J. 23 - best player world ever seen!
3. McGrady - most underrated NBA player ever, played in "wrong" teams for carrer.
4. Kobe - In my opinion seccond best NBA player ever.
