And Dominique’s middle dunk of the final round was crap. The ball hit the rim on the way down. Yet they gave him a 50. MJ’s middle dunk was a 50 and he got a 47.

Ted Turner owned my cable provider and the Hawks at the time, and he showed all the Hawks games to promote the team. So I saw a lot of Wilkins in his prime, and him having to carry his whole team. He was a remarkable basketball player. They didn't call him the human highlights real for nothing.

When you're 6 ft 9 having your head at The rim isn't that impressive actually I'm sure Dominique could have done that 58 when he was younger probably not super impressive but if you look at the pro-dunk leagues just like 10 years ago there was a guy named t dubs 5'9 the guys got a 50 plus inch vertical and the current crop of guys there is a few one guy at five six that can get his head level so this isn't that impressive when you look at the pro dunking circuit

The only reason why I believe it was not higher is that it was Dominique's Go to dunk when he needed guaranteed points, so they've seen it quite often. It to me is very similar to the dunk from the free throw line, that It has been seen so much now even though very few people can do it that it does not Garner the same amount of excitement and Prestige.

No bigger MJ fan than me, but that 2 hand windmill was EPIC! Should have been a 50. Jordan's last dunk was superb because he brought it down and the back up for the dunk. He took off from a few inches further inside the line, but made up for it by having so much room at the end. He didn't even have to reach out to put it down.
Only better free throw line dunk ever was Zach's where he put it down on the side of the rim. Great contest, apologies to 'Nique for the Chicago judging. These two, Vince, and Zach v Gordon are EASILY the best in NBA contests.
And Dominique Wilkins was a powerful, finesse player. Beautiful to watch.

I don't know but all MJ's dunks right now seems common on todays standard but if you watch them in slow motion the hangtime in my mind no one on todays dunker seems to replicate this, he looks likes gliding gracefully on to the air, it is beautiful to watch.
