  • Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is finally on Nintendo Switch! But is it a Monster success, or a goliath failure? Chances are it's good or we wouldn't bother reviewing it to be honest.

    As someone who has always been a fan of the Monster Hunter series, and more importantly, the "hunter" game genre it spawned, in addition to being a huge handheld gaming fan, I always loved the PS Vita for all of the awesome hunter-style games it had to offer, whether it was an actual Monster Hunter game or one of the many different games that were in the genre, such a the Toukiden games for example. But, you know the one game I played on my Vita the most in this genre that I WISH TO GOD they would bring to the Nintendo Switch?? Freedom Wars! That game was so fun, being one of the last physical games I got for my Vita, I think I ended up putting at least a couple hundred hours into it, and I thoroughly enjoyed the hell out of that game, fighting mechs, using the thorn grappling hook, tearing parts off of mechs to create new guns & weapons that you could almost mod out and customize endlessly, all the while taking on newer, tougher mechs & missions, ever attempting to work off my 1-million-year indentured sentence to one day hopefully gain my freedom. I think this was one of the most underrated hunter-style games in the Vitas life that has HUGE potential if they would create a sequel, make it better than ever, add a ton of new features, weapons, enemies, and levels to the game, and bring it over to the Switch. I hope one day I can see an announcement that they will be doing just this, it would make my day for sure!

      Ralph Cox be forwarned, if this is a direct 3ds port, all the weapons of a same rarity do the same damage. Yes, this means your massive grestsword does as much damage as your much smaller dual blades, which means that quests are balanced with this in mind and it feels way too easy to kill things compared to playing 3/4U. Aside from that I absolutely adore it, I played it when it came out on 3ds way back in ‘15

      @Kuma Wilson Well, actually... With the review on the Spawn Wave channel, the guy complained that the multiplayer system was hard to understand, despite the fact one of the first things the game does upon opening, is tell you exactly how to set it up. There were a few other things he said that he didn't understand, which are also explained in vigorous detail through in-game dialogue. It's the kind of stuff you'd only miss if you hurriedly skipped through all the dialogue without caring. But we hear the guy complain, and complain about it despite the fact that his bewilderment is clearly his own fault for not paying attention in the first place.

      VidsAreCool4U that sort of the case but it’s not ridiculously easy. Most monsters weren’t really designed around the mechanics but the deviants that you fight at the end of the game are, and they far more difficult than almost anything in mh3u. I also think monsters deal a bit more damage to compensate for the new abilities. I’d say you should get it if you like mh3u, but mh4u is still the best monster hunter experience if you ask me.

    Picked up mhgu about a week ago having an absolute blast good review however I feel you really under sell the prowler mode it can be quite fun and is definitely a part I enjoy very much. all those world Fanboys calling it ugly clearly are biased. yes the graphics are dated but I find everything quite beautiful especially the weapons and armour which destroy mhws designs which are truly bland and ugly. Which I hope Capcom rectifies so I can enjoy mhw as much as I'm enjoying Gu. Also wanna see g rank in world cause Gu is kicking my ass and that makes it all the more rewarding when I finally beat the monster.

    Best review till date, came here after watching IGN's review of the game which moreover felt like a companion with Monster Hunter World rather than a review.
    And thus every comment said that the review was full of shit and the game was great on its own since it basically came out years before MHW and thus could not be compared with that.
    Thanks for being just to one of my favorite game series.😁
    Note- I have played every Monster Hunter game since MH3U and just watched the IGN's review since it came up on my suggested videos on TH-cam and thus had to watch this one to see if I was the only one who like it. 😂🤟

    so is this going to be extremely hard then? if I can play dark souls and dead cells and stuff, should I be OK though? I only really suck at online FPS games TBH, as long as I don't have to do that, it should be fine.

    • @armanddell-yaxley8657
      @armanddell-yaxley8657 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kind of a late reply, but no, as both a fan of Dark Souls and MH, I can honestly say that you shouldn't have any trouble.
      The mechanics take a bit to get used to, but they are similar to DS in terms of movement and dodging at the very least.
      Most fans of Dark souls will enjoy Monster Hunter at least to some extent, and vice versa.
      The main difference I'd mention would be the grinding, which isn't too repetitive at all given the depth of the combat, and is often really rewarding, but it IS there.

    I'm going to be honest......i preferred the numerous psp releases, Monster hunter world (I have a ps4) is hampered by the story. You are stuck in small regions of the island till you complete bits of the story mode. I have purchased a switch JUST to play this game. The lack of the story is much more appealing to me. It makes the game more pick-up and go while I really get cheese off having to complete bits of a story which I really don't give a toss about.

      What do you like about it better than world? The fighting mechanics?(stuff like not moving while taking a potion, but it's instant).
      I personally don't like how long it takes to gather stuff and the fact that multiplayer missions are separated and can't be done solo. Unless you want to fight the monster solo, but it will have multiplayer HP regardless. that's my biggest gripe with it.
      I also never even touched ranged weapons in 3U, 4U or Generations because you needed a separate armor set specifically for it.

    • @spookydoofus4526
      @spookydoofus4526 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Ade07 that is true but you can still solo multiplayer missions but its just alot harder ive seen people solo g rank. But I like the clunkier controls bc it forces me to think about my next attack. World just made me feel like I had to just hit the monster to win. Gathering does take longer but you can craft armor in those games that help you gather faster or if you crouch new an item and then gather it help you gather a little bit faster. Plus I wasnt as invested into world bc it was too easy. It didnt feel as rewarding as previous games.

    • @adelin081
      @adelin081 5 ปีที่แล้ว
