100% agree twist lock is the obvious choice. Every thing you mention is correct.
Plus if you are a landscape photographer like myself photographing in low light conditions. The twist lock method is easier to operate and lock again.

A good twist lock only needs a 90 degree turn and hence only one 'action' for the close. Should be faster than you showed really (in fact you did it on the close action)

      Thanks for the comments @largeformatlandscape.
In my experience, very few are just 90 degrees (just our Alta Pro 2+ from our range which has a stop and lock/unlock marker, but loses the easy clean functionality), but I may be missing some competitors brands, so next time I'm in a dealer's store I'll do a proper check and feedback here. That said whether 90-180 degrees, the main reason for the speed is that many experienced photographers will still use the "flip lock technique" shown where they over-loosen (if that's a phrase) and extend each section at a time, which is why they consider the locks slow.
On the speed shown, I completely agree. The emphasis was on demonstrating the technique and not "race" speed. Fewer sections will also make it much faster as fewer locks on each to deal with. Might be interesting to set up a #tripodrace forum 🙂
