I've watched all of the Kendall Combines episodes in one day, and I loved them! Kendall is such an adorable, loveable delight, and the way the rest of the crew comes on too and helps and tries the food out is so wholesome, and I love it! I can't wait to watch more Kendall Combines!
When I read "birria dumplings" i was expecting more of a play on the Chinese soup dumplings filled with birria and a gelatinized consommé that melts when the dumplings get steamed. But birria and dumplings sounds awesome too
Idea: Birria okonomiyaki. Oknonomiyaki batter already has some pancake batter qualities so in theory it may work. Drizzle it with a reduction of the birria consommé and lime crema (as opposed to tonkatsu sauce and kewpie mayo). Top with cilantro and onions or pico de gaillo, also serve with a sliced avocado.
This sounds familiar for some reason. Maybe Mythical Kitchen did it or something? I'd swear I'd seen this somewhere. Would absolutely eat approximately 46 of them lol
@@gweebara soup dumplings are a dumpling wrapper that contains fillings and soup, the soup is inside the dumpling, she made solid bread dumplings and cooked them on top of a soup more similar to chicken and dumplings
I really appreciate that the episode is structured in a way that she can come up with real ideas, and it's not a 'reveal-GO' thing like on big food channels.
That dumpling recipe is on the back of the box of Bisquick mix! My mom has been making those dumplings for chicken soup, beef stew, chili, and so many other soup based meals since I was a child. My grandmother has been using that recipe for her chicken and dumplings for decades
glad to see others in the comments also expected takoyaki balls instead of those balls! it's already made with a pancake-like batter, filled with chunks of meat (seafood), and topped with lots of garnish and sauce! sounds like it would work perfectly
when danes were introduced to tortillas and burritos they just saw pancakes, which inspired the savory pancake. its just a regular thin pancake, but instead of rolling it up with sugar and jam you can use meat or salad. its not a flat smooth crepe and its not a puffy american pancake, its just a floppy blanket of sweet dough and its very tasty with flavorful meat, i recommend giving that a try. i imagine some kind of honey glazed meat would be awesome in it
I'm not gonna tell y'all how to live your life. All I'm saying is that this series, weekly-ish, could easily be its own highly successful TH-cam channel.
Love seeing Kendall on the channel, dont get me wrong I love Babish too but well where Babish is chaotic, Kendall is more calming and a hint of quirkyness that I love
Sausage balls are a southern delight! I make them every holiday season. I use spicy sausage, sharp cheddar, Bisquick is a MUST, and my secret weapon: cream cheese.
Really enjoying this series so far, always looking forward to the next combination. My family makes sausage balls every year for Christmas and they are closer to a meatball of sausage, cheese, and onion with Bisquick as a binder. I don't know if it would work with the cooked meat but you can always save it for a Botched by Kendall.
I am so glad I don't have that cilantro allergy! When I am cooking say Mexican, or Asian food, I literally snack on the stuff. I eat the leaves, stems, stalks and all!
when i heard "birria balls" my first thought was like something more of the style of a corndog where it's dough on the outside and meat in the middle (i know there a japanese food that's essentially the same thing but i don't remember what it's called)
Birria and dumplings sounds fantastic. I make birria a lot because I love birria quesa tacos. It will be easy to make some dumplings. Thanks, Kendall ❤
First of all, love the series, Kendall is a delight and any Kendall content is welcome. Second of all, did y'all change out something in your camera equipment or something? It seemed like everything was a lot sharper and clearer than I remember. Maybe I just haven't been paying attention.
Sausage balls are typically more like an inch in diameter, which helps a fair bit with the overwhelming breadiness. That said, even in their best form they're still a bit dry at times.
A German take on could be “Käse Spätzle” cheesy small dumplings made with eggs and the pancake mix , topped with a creamy sauce out of the consommé and the meat! Some pickled red onions for some color and tang. Mhhh! I bet it would be awesome More content with Kendall please! She’s so sweet 😍
My family has a similar Sausage ball recipe that uses grated Parmesan instead of shredded cheese and creates more of a dry party meatball. Worth an evolution, I'd say
As someone who's eaten a lot of Bisquik biscuits in their life, I'm thinking that if you used less birria and cooked them like the biscuits they wanted to be, you'd fix the texture issue.
Glad to see Kendall in front of the camera again, she is so sweet and fun! Friendly reminder: Powwow's are not brainstorming sessions, meetings, or quick chats and shouldn't be used as synonyms for such. Most Powwows are huge, sometimes days long, events that celebrate American, Canadian, and even Mexican Indigenous cultures and traditions. Comparing brainstorming to a Powwow is like calling your kid's little league game the Olympics. 😆
I wonder if you could add gelatin to the consume and make birria-style 'soup dumplings', but then also somehow use the pancake batter in place of wonton wrappers? Hmmm
I'd've gone with Birria rolled into the same dough with cheese, making a sort of a "swiss roll". Still, that 2nd dish was an interesting experiment. Great stuff, as usual...
I would probably deep fry the birria balls. They also look like they have way too much pancake mix and not nearly enough liquid. You could also try more of a dumpling approach, making a wrapper out of pancake mix and wrapping the birria in it. You also might try making a pancake batter, battering the birria and frying that.
For the 'birria-balls', she could try a takoyaki-style: use the birria as the filling inside a pancake batter dough ball.
That's exactly what I thought she'd do when I saw the title.
@@GayBearDaddy2 Same. They should do a 'Botched by Kendall' style follow up for this ep.
I was thinking smaller and deep fried
That's what I expected too!
Came to say the same thing

Mythical kitchen did that a few years ago, apparently.
That's what I thought as well
As previously stated, check out Mythical Kitchen
I want a redo with it done this style and i also wanna be able to buy em lol
Kendall is absolutely ADORABLE! 🎉 more Kendall episodes please
Vouch!
Kendall is just such an absolute delight. Super excited to see her series make a return!
Great to see Kendall back!
@DontReadMyProfilePicture.57We won't. You should check on your father warranty, to see if it expired
Kendall is awesome
WE MISSED YA KENDALL!!!
Kinda hope Jess appears on the show again at some point too. We haven't seen her in a while.

Kendall just makes my heart happy. She is pure joy.
Please have Kendall in more episodes! She puts a smile on my face.
Would the birria balls be better fried, like a croquette?
I bet a birria version of takoyaki would be amazing 😁
Birria soup dumplings would be amazing too.
This sounds familiar for some reason. Maybe Mythical Kitchen did it or something? I'd swear I'd seen this somewhere. Would absolutely eat approximately 46 of them lol
Do either of you watch the whole episode that's literally what she did at the end
@@gweebara soup dumplings are a dumpling wrapper that contains fillings and soup, the soup is inside the dumpling, she made solid bread dumplings and cooked them on top of a soup more similar to chicken and dumplings
@gweebara no, no it wasn't, in the slightest.....
This is what I was hoping to see as well!
I really appreciate that the episode is structured in a way that she can come up with real ideas, and it's not a 'reveal-GO' thing like on big food channels.
Yay! I haven't seen Kendall in forever! Love it when she gets a turn in the kitchen ❤ Looking forward to more!
i need more of this series
Birria bao buns would be awesome too 😊
Great to see Kendall
I love bao. That would be great - would be a great "sponge" for the consomme!
I need Kendall combines on a weekly basis, keep up the great work!

Yay! Love how Kendalls brain works when tackling these kind of projects. Yay again!
glad to see others in the comments also expected takoyaki balls instead of those balls! it's already made with a pancake-like batter, filled with chunks of meat (seafood), and topped with lots of garnish and sauce! sounds like it would work perfectly
I assumed that the birria balls would be fried instead of baked.
I was expecting something akin to a corn dog myself.
I was expecting croquettes! But I don't know if it's possible to make bechamel with pancake mix 🤔
You know it will look like an expedition when Kendall is involved
I have the soap aversion, but I still like it. Sometimes a dish needs a little soapiness.
I'm the opposite - it doesn't taste like soap to me, but i still hate it lol
Same
I like cilantro. I can't imagine my life without it. 😅
Same. For me the whole thing depends on whether it's been cooked in a dish
Kendall is one of my favorite characters in The BCU. More Kindle appearances everywhere please and thank you

"They just saw pancakes" Man, what a braindead take.
@@Saku19 they werent making a take and it wasnt braindead so maybe you're the one making a braindead take ??
That birria quesadilla looks f***ing delicious.
When making the birra balls I thought.. could birria Takoyaki work?
I mean, it's takoyaki. You can put almost anything in takoyaki.
I'm not gonna tell y'all how to live your life. All I'm saying is that this series, weekly-ish, could easily be its own highly successful TH-cam channel.
9:47 "I'm not gonna, like, regurgitate it, but- I mean I did, but I didn't swallow it first... I just gurgitated it."
😂
I hope they end up doing a redo of this episode with everyone's suggestions because takoyaki, and steamed buns with birria sound AMAZING.
The ad that I got, was a babish ad. And honestly I didn’t realize it was an ad until I was half way through. Iconic

Birria crêpes sounds like the best fusion

Kendall is my character in the BCU by far
Yay so glad Kendall is back!! Such a fun episode, well done 🎉
now we need Birria soup dumplings
More Kendall! Finally! We want more Kendall!
Kendall is definitely my BCU person. Definitely a culinary crush

“You know what wouldn’t exist without failures?
Successes.”
-Babish
Put that on a t-shirt. I’d buy one.
An arepa , made with Bisquick and a birria filling might work
8:30 I'm conditioned by SNL to picture Vanessa Bayer when hungry men are mentioned
I'm sorry I didn't notice this video sooner.. I love Kendall!!

I need Kendall to know that she looks super amazing in that shirt and that black is deff her color
Welcome back!!
Taqueria Los Primos in Laurel, MD has a Quesabirria on the menu. It's utterly delicious
When I saw Biria dumplings i thought it was going to more like Soup Dumplings. Add geleton to the consume and add that to wrappers and steam.
Interesting blend of dishes
I love when Kendall takes the stage!
More Kendall combines please or fundakendalls. Pure fun!
The GOAT of the BCU returns. Queen, I tell you! QUEEN!

Kendall is adorable in everything. This is from an avowed Ace.
I'm not sure you got cheese where you wanted it on the quesadilla. There's 2 layers next to each other with cheese rather than the 2 outer layers
More of these please

Birria-style okonomiyaki would’ve been so fire! With the yellow noodles below all that meat
I know he’s done BLTs before but I wanna see a MLT. Princess bride mutton lettuce tomato with the cool babish spin on it!
On the topic of dumplings, would y’all make pelmeni, or vareniki? Eastern European meat, cheese, or fruit dumplings.
Oh man, birria soup dumplings would be next level!
Wait hold up, I see that ring on Kendall's finger! Is this a new development? Congrats to her, and also to whoever managed to snag her!
