Last time I made this I fried one side of the tortilla, then took it out of the pan, put down a layer of cheese directly on the pan in the exact size and shape of the tortilla, then put the tortilla (un fried side down) and rested it in that cheese. From there fill the taco as normal. By the time you're done you've got a nice crispy taco that has a layer of fried cheese on the outside. It was incredible.
That consome is not just for dunkin'. Top with onions and cilantro and sip as you enjoy your taco like a side of soup. It will warm your tummy like never before!
I ask for extra just so I can drink the rest when I'm done 😂😂 I'm obsessed. I love to take a bite of everything and then sip it. I dunk everything in green chilie and sometimes melted queso first
We make these probably once or twice a week. I always make a big pot of consome when making them, the sauce freezes really well. So when you want to eat it again, just slowly roast your beef and defrost your sauce, and let everything simmer together. Homemade tortillas are a must in my family.
So you add the consome and meat back together and simmer to warm it up? Also how long does the meat and consome last cause I’m planning on making this next weekend and want to give some to my neighbors
@@Chadius_ThundercockI’ve had some In my freezer for 2 months before I used, but yesss roast meat and then defrost your sauce, and add them together. Adjust seasoning as needed.
@@Ozarkmountainfarmhouse thank you for the quick response this is like the first time I’ve asked someone a question in comments and they didn’t reply 5 months later lol
My husband and I just moved from Arizona/New Mexico area to the south and I have been missing birria tacos for a year now!! This is so comprehensive and looks delicious! Can’t wait to give it a try!! Love your channel!!!
DO NOT USE THE Bullet blender to mix hot liquids, the liquid expands as it’s being mixed causing pressure to build in the sealed cup and it can explode!! Look it up.. the tacos look fantastic, another great recipe
Yall im not playing, these were the best damn tacos ive had in my life. I’ve never thought a taco could have this much depth in flavor, please trust me !! If you follow exactly what he says you won’t be disappointed 🌮🙌❤
I made this...I omitted the brown sugar just because I'm not a fan of sugar. This was amazing. I love this recipe! You do an outstanding job in explaining the steps! This is a great video and my family and friends were so impressed
Oooh Matt! I stay away from making these bc there’s so many steps. Plus I finally found a great place that makes them so so well. I’m comfortable to try it on my own now thanks to you!
Oooohhh it's not a hard as I thought! Having to cook the meat 3+ hours definitely kept me from making it this long. But the pressure cooker is perfect ❤❤🎉🎉THANKS
Just made this tonight!!! Do the process of frying up the meat a bit. I truly locks in the flavor. Also add oil to the consume when building the taco as I missed this step. The tacos came out soggy and limp. The oil helps the shell crisp up. I didn’t have any, I got full off the meat itself. But the fam loved these tacos.
Do another video making the Birria, but used beef cheek instead. The collagen in the cheek gives it an amazing mouth feel and the meat is much more tender. If you want even more flavor, smoke the cheeks a little before throwing them in the pressure cooker.
Hey there! Love that you have a website for the printable recipe. Would you and your team consider placing the video on the website as well OR adding the ingredients back in the description? I like to cook and follow the recipe on my phone in the kitchen.
LISTEN…!!!! I wanted to try and make this for my taco eatin’ family..!!! No lie, I deep down love to cook.. I’ve never made anything like this before!! But baaaaaabyyyyyy… Let me tell you.. This had the entire house right!!! I will most definitely put it into the rotation!! Thank you for sharing this with us!!! Don’t slip on making this y’all…!!! It’s freaking deeeeeeeeeelishhhhh🤤🤤🤤…!!! Thanks 🙏🏽 @mrmakeithappen
I got my Cooking Pan Friday and I coming for the Flour and knife. I am loving the Cookbook that y’all did and it’s Kimmy and onedtopchop. I got to get yours by yourself I love all of y’all Thank You
So I was watching and at the 6:33 mark pay attention to the oil bottle. It starts moving on its own. I just thought I would point that out. I can't wait to make this.
I think I'll leave the seeds in, I'm all about the spice. Would love it if you'd do a video on the various dried chilis available in the international markets.
I add Wagyu Beef Tallow to my consume during the cooking process. will ladle the tallow out later with all that flavor and use it for the frying part of the tacos
I’m cooking this for dinner tonight. The smell of it cooking is unbelievable. Sent the recipe to my kids and they are all coming. I have not used my insta pot for a while and you’re right, it works great for this! Thank you!
If I want it more spicy, do I not add brown sugar? Or like as much? I know I add more if the small red peppers but will the brown sugar ruin what I’m tryna do? lol sorry if it’s a stupid question I’m new to cooking lmao
Mr Make it happen I made these tonight for my daughter she loved them. One question idk what happened but when I was frying the peppers it made everyone choke and cough. The fumes were too much we had to air out my house lol why did that happen? How do I prevent that from happening they were so good though!
I'm gonna try this. I just started dating a Mexican girl. I wanna impress her lol. Gotta make it first to make sure I don't mess up. 😅 Looks so good tho hot damn.
Chile de árbol is probably my favorite compared to Jalapeños or habenero. Jalapeños is more universal as you can even fill those with Mozzerella and so on.
Can I make it with sirloin steak as a sub? Did a late night grocery run and that’s all that was available. I’m worried about how it will cook and its ability to shred

Looks delicious yummy 😋
Looks wonderful!!! Going to try it
thank you!
I think I'll leave the seeds in, I'm all about the spice. Would love it if you'd do a video on the various dried chilis available in the international markets.
Seeds in peppers don't have any heat. It's all in the placenta, kind of a weird myth that just keeps going around.
Can we get a seafood fry recipe? Pleaseeeee❤
This will definitely be in rotation. 😋
Hope you enjoy
I made them and it was 👍🏾
Thanks Matt❤️❤️
thank you!
Happy Sunday.
happy Sunday!
It’s looks delicious
I add Wagyu Beef Tallow to my consume during the cooking process. will ladle the tallow out later with all that flavor and use it for the frying part of the tacos
How long do I cook it in my slow cooker? I see you say you can use it but I'm not sure for how long.
3 hours
Thank you!

FIRE DAWG
Awesome!
I use all of the above peppers including the Chipotle and some Ociote (sp) powder
NO YOU DIDN’T!!! OMG!! I’m on it!!!
Сегодня ел кабанятину ,приготовленную ,в афганском казане,вкуснятина .
What cut of lamb or goat would I use if I wanted to make them the original way?
Great video Matt. When you make these again, try half chuck and half beef cheek. That's going to be my new go-to 🤌
I dont have a pressure cooker. Will a crock pot work?
I’m cooking this for dinner tonight. The smell of it cooking is unbelievable. Sent the recipe to my kids and they are all coming. I have not used my insta pot for a while and you’re right, it works great for this! Thank you!

@@MrMakeItHappen it was delicious, thank you!
So yummy looking 👀👀👀
thank you!
Yummy!!!
Thank you!
Mr. MIH - good call with crisping up the beef at the end. Good for pork too. Otherwise its like youre eating pulled tuna.

Thank you!
I'm an expat living in Mexico and my favorite tacos are Birria! My family also has a horse farm in VA.
Thanks for your support
Hey my brother where did you get your counter burner from? And also do you have to have gas to get one?
amazon... butane
If I want it more spicy, do I not add brown sugar? Or like as much? I know I add more if the small red peppers but will the brown sugar ruin what I’m tryna do? lol sorry if it’s a stupid question I’m new to cooking lmao
🙋🏽♀️🔥🔥Looking good.....yummy yum....thanks for sharing....take care...ky
thank you!
As a white dude from Texas I approve, I usually make it the traditional way but this isn’t bad whatsoever
I can feel my blood pressure going up watching him with that salt😂😂😂
Amazing
Thank you!
Could you do this in a crockpot instead?
How many chillies do you use?
DAMN!!!!!!🤤
Mr Make it happen I made these tonight for my daughter she loved them. One question idk what happened but when I was frying the peppers it made everyone choke and cough. The fumes were too much we had to air out my house lol why did that happen? How do I prevent that from happening they were so good though!
If you not making that " mmh" noise immediately after a bite is not hittin 😂
I could taste it through the screeeeennnnn 😭😭😩
so good
I take shots of Tabasco scorpion sauce
What's a good alternative to the pressure cooker...I don't have one
slow cooker or dutch oven
What mic and camera are you using? The sound is even delicious 😂
I know! You can almost hear the smell! 😌😋
My question is, why take out the seed? My mom always toated them whole, them cut off the stem but used thevwhole chile.
5:52 is it Olive Oil or Avocado Oil ? The bottle says Avocado Oil...
I'm gonna try this. I just started dating a Mexican girl. I wanna impress her lol. Gotta make it first to make sure I don't mess up. 😅 Looks so good tho hot damn.
Do you wash the peppers?
nope
This consume in this looks delicious unlike all the water down nonsense you see at all Mexican restaurants 😩
Chile de árbol is probably my favorite compared to Jalapeños or habenero. Jalapeños is more universal as you can even fill those with Mozzerella and so on.
My my my like Johnny Gill over here 😉. Gotta put a crisp on that meat to make it right.
🔥🔥
Can I make it with sirloin steak as a sub? Did a late night grocery run and that’s all that was available. I’m worried about how it will cook and its ability to shred
