Good video. The 917 that raced was just called 917, the k model(for kurz or short) didn’t debut til the beginning of the 1970 season. It was a direct result of John Horsman of the Wyer team cutting off the original tail with a hack saw in order to cure the high speed instability. Research your driver name pronunciation aswell!Otherwise, well done
Great to see Porsche back at Le Mans. Now lets see if Toyota can win at Le Mans with some actual competition rather than being a pony in a one-horse race.
LETS GOOOOO PORSCHE LE MANS HISTORY DOCUMENTARY IS HERE, one of my personal favorite endurance teams of all time lets hope for the 963 to get that 20th Le Mans W
@@christheradar great. I am a big fan of Lancia endurance racers as well as Porsches so always happy to see a Lancia! They had a rather poorer Le Mans finishing record than Porsche. In most cases the Lancias sadly didn't last long enough to get much use out of their headlights.
You are correct! But technically both cars are classified as LMP1s, though the top-class name in *WSC* was the only difference. At Le Mans, both TWR Porsche and Ferrari 333sp raced in the *LMP1* class.
The TWR Porsche was initially called the WSC-95 because it first participated in the WSC before LeMans, so yep it was a WSC prototype and also an LMP1.
Really wish the dauer 962 road version wasn't being locked up somewhere on brunei. I mean, could you imagine a legendary group c prototype roaming the streets like it's a normal road car?
Excellent video, I absolutely loved it! Only bit of critique is how you massacred the pronounciation of Jacky Ickx :D Other than that this was extremely insightful, thanks a lot!
This is great content, but some of your production generated a cringe. Porsche fans love historic and technical accuracy. You butchered not only the name of the Porsche driver with the most LeMans titles, but many other terms and names: Targa FloRIO being one. A great detail which took me out of your flow for a moment. Check with others for any pronunciation for which you’re uncertain. Mathieu Jaminet and Felipe Nasr will thank you 😉. I’d also like to see as much detail about the early wins and cars as you provided in the later years, including drivers’ names. Keep up the good work!
@kellyswoodyard This is an older video. I've improved substantially with that, and second off, I know my own knowledge better than anyone else can tell me. Bye. 👋
FYI you're just gossiping. Porsche has several Daytona overall wins to its name dating back to 1968! They have 22 wins there to date. Not only do they remain the #1 marque at Le Mans, but so do at Daytona!
@@christheradar wtf gossiping is 100% fact you obviously didn’t watch the 24Hr at Daytona couple weeks ago no# 7 Porsche 963 finished 14th with 8 laps down the no# 6 Porsche ended 42nd retirement/DNF.Your giving me Porsche’s History in Daytona that I already know kid.I’m ranting about this year ok.
@@WEILMAN_11 Ofc I did watch this year's Rolex Daytona "obviously." But it sounds like to me that you are hoping Porsche will DNF this year's Le Mans too, and hope they'll end their efforts with a laughing emoji. I wouldn't underestimate them either and give Porsche a chance.

917 is the greatest race car ever!! R. I. P. Mark Donahue!!
16 cars, 4 Porsche 963's included at Le Mans. I'm looking forward to it!
Great little video!

Very complete and well done documentary! Thanks mate
Great Content Chris, Could watch these all day!

porsche looked like buffoons while toyota lost badly haha ferrari won!
@@parabelluminvicta8380 Buffoons, no. But once again, with some real competition, Toyota falters.
nicey porscheys! (As I affectionately call them hehe) I love porsches. Loved this documentary too.

My grandmas uncle was Ferdinand..I’m so proud.
At 1min, 11secs that is a Lancia and not a Porsche. It may be in Martini stripes but it is a Lancia LC1. Looks like Ricardo Patrese at the wheel.
I knew that wasn't a Porsche.

8:50, the TWR Porsche was actually not an LMP1, it was a WSC prototype (similar case to the Ferrari 333sp)

I wanna see what a heavily cheap prototype class would look like

The Porsche Schuppan 962CR is street-legal and I think you can buy it.

Let's all be real with ourselves, Toyota will take it this year.
Porsche
Porsche is under ferrari 😂
Your narrating pace is off. Too fast. Not enough pause. Not engaging.
Not to mention your pronunciation of LeMans, Targa Florio and many of the drivers names is all wrong. But the footage is excellent.
Learn the correct names of the teams, individuals, and cars. Don't do shit you know nothing about, defaming the name if Porsche.
