Bro it's not because of springs, it's because of law of common sense, if you use same colour tictac as the gun, then it will go further. Use red tictac with red gun and it will go same distance as the orange one.
You can tell the gun itsself is absorbing a lot of the force from the springs instead of transfering it to the one tic tac. You can see that because the resevoir of tic tacs above the one, move whenever the trigger is pulled. Like substantially move. Thats because those tic tacs above the one are aborbing some momentum from the springs. It actually looks like ita absorbing a lot of the momentum.
Instead of compression use tension instead. Hook the spring near the mouth of the gun that way when you pull, the spring is in tension and it will probably be alot stronger

Heres a trick, take two of those springs, hold them end to end, ans twist, if you do it right you can make the second spring twist down into the other, making a double spring, I used to make little paper bb guns in school with that, a pen tube, and plastic bbs or little wads of paper, if you do that, you could get 16 in that design and get some power, also, mix that with higher tension springs for better results.
think I would try one with a hammer instead of a plunger. Use a pull type spring, have the trigger pivot into the bottom of the hammer, have the spring be pulled by the hammer, have the hammer pivot into the tic-tac. You could also add a rubber nipple to the strike face of the hammer allowing a MUCH heavier spring. Somewhere in the 3 pound range as opposed to your 1/16th ounce pushers
8 springs are a nice touch but adding in a tube that can compress air and increase pressure would be much more efficient. Additionally , if you took that route extending the barrel would create more impulse . Cool design man another way you can increase distance is having a higher mass object striking the tiktac
Find a tic tacs terminal velocity. Then, see what type of propulsion will get it to match the tic tacs terminao velocity. That's how you can get it to go as far as possible. I believe you can make a tic tac go as far as possible, mate!
In spring powered weapons it's all about draw length. Use longer tension rather than compression springs, 2 springs pulling three times the distance will probably give you as much or more velocity than the 8 spring version.
It would probably be much more complicated and expensive, but if you made a blaster that uses flywheels and has a hopper with even more tic tacs it would be more powerful and efficient I think, for the hardware I think you could use the one that uses the nerf stryfe or some semi-automatic motorized blaster similar to that, now if you want to make an automatic blaster you could make something similar to the jupiter blaster from out of darts, maybe even a tic tacs proton pack, well I think I've already gone too far but you get the idea.

However the stretch distance of the spring is directly proportional to the distance, so a single spring eight times longer would shoot the projectile eight times farther. Maybe create notches on the lever to control how far you want it to go. So the distance would be controlled in every shot.
