    It is great to have your father help you with projects like this, Great Bonding together. My dad passed away in 1981. I miss him so Bad. I was only 19 at the time. Hold on to him tight my brother, We only have our parents for a short time.

      I am extremely grateful to have the wonderful parents that I do. My dad has shaped me for the better and I wouldn’t change that for anything👍🏼

    Nice information vid man. I’m getting ready to buy a similar jackplate and install on my 17’ aluminum Bass Tracker so that I am able to adjust the height on my 60/40 Mercury jet drive. Nice to see it done before I start my project.

    I've put several plates on and I have a couple things Id recommend. 1st off I personally prefer 3m 4200 for sealant silicones a pain to get completely clean if it need to be removed again. I also recommend taking a popsicle stick and use it to coat the transom bolt holes prior to installing the bolts to help seal the core. I also put a ring around the bolt head again its extra protection. Another thing I do is run the bolts head inside with shank coming through to the outside with either a big washer or plate on the inside. You can also do a small ring of sealant around the outer bolt hole.

      Nice. I definitely used more sealant than I needed but I like to be on the cautious side as well!

    You use 304 or 316 SS bolts on transom?

    Great video thanks! I’m debating between purchasing the original jack plate you had and the new model you just installed. Was the quality decent on the original plate? It’s about $100 cheaper but I’m worried since I saw your bolt snapped.

      It lasted for roughly 25 years so it was definitely built well! Might be worth calling and seeing what the difference is between the models

    Is that a 25 inch shaft and a 20 inch transom? Looking at an outboard but it's a 25 and my transom is 20. Been seeing a lot of mixed reviews

    I put mine on by myself, it sucked some parts of the day because I would get it leveled out and when I put the clamps on , one side would slide down as I’m marking it. Next time I’m gonna make a template

      I can’t imagine doing that job by yourself! An extra set of hands always helps

    Looking to purchase the 8” Vance Jack plate. Do you or anyone you know have a power pole bracket attached to the side of the Vance?

    FWIW, @9:35 mark, 3m 5200 or 4200 is far superior to the silicone they provide (or any silicone for that matter)

      Believe it or not, I haven’t had the chance to take it out since I’ve installed the jackplate. I’m also interested to see if I gain an extra mph or two. I’ll be using it next week and will update you once I test it out.

    • @JenkinsBassFishing
      @JenkinsBassFishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just wanted to follow up. I gained 1-2 mph I believe. I need to do more testing but I hit 58 today with two people which is faster than I used to run with a partner.
