Can we use pass lights for alerting when we are overtaking or taking a c turn in Ireland?

Passed my test this morning first time! Your videos were so helpful. Only lost marks for one thing: putting my foot on the accelerator when going down in gears coming into a roundabout. The tester said it's the most common mistake he sees 👍

Why is reversing around a corner a thing? Surely its very dangerous?
How is it dangerous? It tests peoples ability to reverse, steer and observe at the same time. It's only dangerous if its not done properly which is the whole point.

Dane Tyghe: Don't worry is you fail you test you can always do it again
Me: Yea that easy to say when you haven't paid €85 for the test and then have to pay it again for another lesson. Also when I failed my first two tests, neither my testers gave me any advice or pointers where I got wrong and where I should work on, they just said I failed, aome tip and pointers would have helped a lot.

Fails twice going for third attempt Monday :(
add car roadworthy conditions, I hired a car, and needed a letter from insurance company saying that its ok to be in the driving test, so I was not admitted to the test,
thank you for this, I am so late to the party, I got my provisional at 17, and have never had a car, I did my 12 lessons, booked my test for January but I got sick so couldn't sit the test, I'm 28 now.

Unfortunately I failed 3 times. I driving since 2018 6 days a week 15 hours a day. I am comfortable to drive up to 200km/h.
During the test I drive about 30 to 48 km/h
any advice
Just because you drive 6 days a week and 15 house a day doesn't mean you are a good driver. Get some professional driving lessons.

I failed just on Friday, the marking from my tester was substantially worse than my instructor
That's why your instructor should teach you and not pretend he's a driving tester, if you're doing too many mock tests then you're wasting your time and money.
This video was so helpful to watch before the test, also, your reversing around the corner video was a great help. Passed with flying colours today despite some pedestrians best efforts. They ran halfway across the road, some went all the way then some other stopped on the middle white line. But I let them cross fully since there was oncoming traffic too. Also some lunatic tried reversing into me at max speed basically as soon as the test began.

Have my 2nd test on Tuesday, failed the first time because I got too anxious and couldn't focus properly. Hopefully will pass this time! Either way, i've watched just about every video on this channel over the past month so thanks a lot Dane!

I passed my test 2nd time round in 2008. I failed instantly at a stop sign first time round. Yeld or stop sign instant fail so remember people

No I don't have Revolut at the moment, hopefully in the future. I had difficulty setting it up and I just lost interest. PayPal is far easier for me.

Hi Dane just in regards to not letting the steering wheel slide back through your hands, my driving instructor tells me to let the wheel come back through my hands without passing it back through after a turn, would this be a fail?
It would not be a fail on its own but it could lead to a failure if repeated because it's not showing control of the wheel. I can only assume your instructor is advising you in such a way to help you gain more confidence with the wheel as a stepping stone, because I can't imagine any proper instructor promoting this bad habit.

If I'm doing my test. Is it okay to have a sheet up on the dash with the letters DOSHO-Drive, Observe, Signal, Handbrake, Observe. For myself but also to show the tester i have all my checklists ready? If that makes sense
Yes you can if you want, but I don't really see the point. You should have this all in your head. Trust me - testers don't like people with too much to prove. Remember it's a driving test, not a theatre performance.

I had a very nice tester in Cavan but he would not shut up through the test put me right off I failed on the reverse around the corner and a left turn my bad not his but I was put off

Hi Dane, if turning right in an estate and there are parked cars immediately on the road after the turn, is it appropriate to turn into the middle of the road if it is clear ahead. As opposed to turning into the left of the road, signalling right and moving into the centre to overtake. Sometimes there isn't sufficient space on the left hand-side to move in and then overtake.
Usually better to turn towards the middle of the road, this shows you're planning ahead for the obstructions.
For my test, at one point I got the left and right mixed up but the examiner was really nice about it. I didn't receive any marks because of it because I corrected myself appropriately after he told me he meant left, not right. It was on a very quiet road though and I'm not sure what would happen if the road was busy.
Also, most examiners are sympathetic about you wearing glasses and do give you more time to adjust the mask. Just wanted to add this to remind people that the examiners are human despite their serious exterior!

I am watching your videos regularly and thanks these are very helpful. In today's video, TIP NO.28 you explained the green light at the junction.
I have two questions: Can you please clear my confusion?
.
1). At junctions with, green light (in a circle/round shape plus filter to turn right), you can go ahead but there is ALSO A FILTER (turning right)... it is not yet green, can I proceed to turn right without waiting for it to turn into green if NO oncoming traffic and the filter is still off.

Hi...just a question about the brake...I have a button break...is it ok if I'm stopped at lights or for short periods to sit in 1st gear waiting to take off...foot on brake / clutch... or should I always push button break ...take feet off pedals then..brake off and go.... Very simple but its confusing me I just want to b 100%...test next week
It's not a case of one way or another - it's not a simple answer as it depends on a few things. Either way is fine but it's better to use the button brake for extra security and there's no need to brake on that case, just have your right foot ready on the acceleration.
Hi Dane, sitting my test soon. My provisional license was due to go out of date July2021 but due to COVID it was extended to March 2022. My physical license still says July 2021 but on the RSA portal it says the new date. Is it ok if I print out a copy of where it states March 2022? Thank you
You can if you want but the RSA tester will be aware of any extension

The testers are very used to dealing with people from different backgrounds so and the communication and directions are basic so you should be OK.
Good advice, clears up lots of common worries for learners. One thing I'd point out though, when you demonstrated the hand signals your hand wasn't on-screen. Not a big deal, but if you get a very pedantic tester, technically it could make a difference if your hand is vertical or horizontal. Haven't watched the rest of your videos yet, looking forward to it.
I would like to think that a viewer got the overall message considering that most of my hand is visible, I'm not sure what you mean by vertical or horizontal, there's a big difference and a tester is not being pedantic if he marks you because you got one or more hand signals wrong.
Thanks Dane, I've just one question, what did you say about turning right at a green light? I think I understood the instruction but I think you said that if you don't do it "you will be done for progress". What did you mean by that?
You have to roll up into the middle of the junction on a full green light and then don't stay there even if the light goes red. You must clear the junction.
The NCT on my car got extended from April to August because of the Lockdown but the plate still says 04/21, can I still do my test in this next month?
Yes the tester will know as long as its an official extension
My test is on the 25th of May and I’m so nervous I’ve 6 days left I don’t my test twice last year but failed so I waited a year got my own car but I still struggling with keeping up with the speed as soon as the lights go green Idk o think I’m not getting the “ bite“ right
