You don't have to stop at any junction if it is safe & the way is clear (unless there is a STOP sign). It's perfectly ok to keep rolling slowly & with care.
Nonsense. You're always advised NOT to indicate when going straight through a mini roundabout. The reason is simple: Because of the roundabout's size, by the time you indicate to exit off the roundabout you are pretty much already off it. If exiting to the right or left you DO signal on the approach and keep that signal active until off the mini roundabout. Signalling on a mini roundabout is different to regular roundabouts.

Very good video. I have only one issue: the driver does not indicate left before leaving mini roundabouts. (I spotted 2 occasions in the video where there was no left signal leaving the roundabout.) This is a fault. We are supposed to treat mini roundabouts the same as any other roundabout, although there is some leeway if its very tight involving a lot of steering. You are also showing that you check left and right for red-light runners before entering the junction. - You're already next to the kerb and it's no use signalling left to reverse.

I passed my test first time. And frightened the tester on the hill-start because the handbrake on my car was different to the norm. He saw me put the car in neutral and come off the footbrake.... but hadn't seen me apply the handbrake and half panicked because he thought it was about to roll back. Making the tester jump out of his seat is generally a bad thing.
I'm an American watching to acclimate to driving on the "wrong side" in your lovely country. ;) One thing I have yet to see in a video: right side cars pedals from left to right are clutch, brake, and accelerator. Are they the opposite for left-side vehicles?
No they are the same thankfully, that would be very confusing! Only thing to get used to really is the gearstick on the other side. I didn't think many people in America drove manual/stick, in case you're unaware you'd be able to buy/rent an automatic here easily, they're becoming more and more common
@@mrjackbenny thanks! I'm glad it's not THAT different. Yes not many Americans can drive a manual, I can because my wife's first car was manual, handed down from her frugal sister. Her second car was manual as well so we've had about 16 years with one until about 12 years ago. I hear you can rent auto transmission in Ireland but it's still more expensive. I live near Chicago but I have relatives in Indianapolis which is fortunate for Irish driving as well, as the mayor of Carmel a north suburb fell in love with roundabouts and Carmel has about 150 of them now so I'm used to those too. Granted the very center of Indianapolis has always had one with a beautiful Soldiers and Sailors monument, but everyone goes slower around that one than a normal roundabout. I'll be in Ireland this September and very much looking forward to it!
@@timmmahhhh I've just gone down a Wikipedia rabbit hole about roundabouts in Carmel Indiana but quite enjoyed haha so thank you! I hope Ireland is good to you whatever you decide to drive. This video was filmed around Dublin, despite being from here I'd recommend heading to the West of Ireland when you're visiting; more interesting towns, dramatic scenery, a bit of a more authentic Irish experience I'd say
@@mrjackbenny thanks, our plan is to spend a few days in Dublin then head south then west and north to Galway, then back to Dublin. The next trip we'll look at going to Donegal where my mother's family is from, and Northern Ireland.
Not saying you didn't stop at the stop sign because you did, just saying that even if the intersection doesn't have a stop sign in my country, you still have to come to a complete stop. I am curious why is that so in my country?
These are the arm signals you would give to other road users in case your indicator lights or your brake lights failed. Arm signals tend to be only used in emergencies or when your indicators aren't enough to show your intentions (e.g. entering a driveway just before a junction). You should check your mirrors (and blindspot) before sticking your arm out the window, or else you can confuse other drivers (these are still legal signals after all) or even whack a pedestrian/cyclist who is close to your car.

Passed today on first try😁 thanks for the videos helped me a lot!
Do u need to know hand signals before test
I passed my test first time. And frightened the tester on the hill-start because the handbrake on my car was different to the norm. He saw me put the car in neutral and come off the footbrake.... but hadn't seen me apply the handbrake and half panicked because he thought it was about to roll back.
Making the tester jump out of his seat is generally a bad thing.
Gavin didn't do his hill start
@maxfurey no because u went through on green , and if stayed their u would be blocking over road users on the junction
I'm an American watching to acclimate to driving on the "wrong side" in your lovely country. ;)
One thing I have yet to see in a video: right side cars pedals from left to right are clutch, brake, and accelerator. Are they the opposite for left-side vehicles?
Not a lovely country anymore , ruined by mass migration and globalism
The next trip we'll look at going to Donegal where my mother's family is from, and Northern Ireland.
never adjusted mirior on the reserse around corner
you dont have to and it is recommend you dont adjust it either cause if you forget to fix it before taking off again its a fail
Not necessary
Very good video and example of what it's like. All yer videos helped me pass in a big way many thanks!!
Oh god. I remember i used to watch this religiously back in 2013 before i took my roadtest lol
Same here...except even before that!
These videos are quite old… does the same rules apply
passed my test here today 1st time.and found this video very usefull.
have a question, if dont get any question on the road signs or the common questions, can u still pass?
Not saying you didn't stop at the stop sign because you did, just saying that even if the intersection doesn't have a stop sign in my country, you still have to come to a complete stop. I am curious why is that so in my country?
Question if possible? At the rotor the closed outlets are calculated with the outlets that are available or only the available outlets are calculated
Can you repeat that in English please. And preferably sober.
Used this DVD and passed my test first time. Thanks a mil for uploading same it was very helpful......Mary
test on tomorrow, so stressed! this video helps when you cant really practice though :)
No indicating when over-taking parked cars, also, does anyone else check the left blind-spot??
Thank you! Had no idea you had to approach T-Junctions in 1st gear!
Hi , can someone please explain me this 17:28
These are the arm signals you would give to other road users in case your indicator lights or your brake lights failed.
