I love Michael Smith. When he is feeling it, I think he’s the best player in the world. But if I could choose any player to be my partner in a WC, it’d be Humphries. So consistent, so reliable, so brilliant.

Ireland lost to Taiwan, they won Taiwan.
Wales lost to Croatia, they won Croatia.
Netherlands lost to Belgium, they wiped the floor with them after the break.
Even in final they had couple early chances and could go 6-5 or even 7-4 up. Luke really shined in clutch.
What I really love about WC is performances from guys that you won't see often in majors. Italy, Croatia, Austria, Taiwan, Sweden. Some good piece of action we witnessed =)

Austria had a great World Cup but there’s not many that can live up to the finishing of cool hand

Austria put in a great performance but England on another level there for most of the match!
Thoughts below:
Whoever said Humphries and Smith would not work well together is looking real foolish right now. They delivered big time. Luke is not World Number 1 for nothing. 4 ton plus checkouts. That’s his strength right there. Well done, England. Curse has been lifted.
Credit to Austria too tbf. They did very well to get this far. Certainly put Dimitri in his place in that semi final- he’s really becoming very unlikeable btw… I dunno what’s going on with him. But whatever.
Becoming unlikeable? He has never been liked. Not a very good sportsman.
Like Mike said, he wasn't at his best, but when needed, Luke cleared everything off.

Matches should be longer, first to 8 is not enough. Format too short. Bring back a mix of singles and pairs. Consider national b teams, too much talent missing. And finally, perhaps consider creating other tournaments/league for pairs, I think it adds another dimension to an otherwise overly simple sport.
Get in there England our first world cup title since 2016 first without Phil Taylor and Adrian Lewis I knew we will win it this year since the start of this year tournament

Their first match wasn't all that excellent, averaging "only" 86 points per three darts. But starting from the quarterfinal, there was no doubt.

There was every team and there was TEAM ENGLAND! One sided matches all through, just bulldozing every one till they got the trophy! Well Done Bully Boy and Killer Luke.
Great finish by Rodriguez given the crowd shenanigans. England v Scotland a very enjoyable game but England found another gear against Austria and in particular Luke Humphries.
England winning was pretty much a foregone conclusion. I think if Wales would’ve had Price, they could’ve competed with them.

@@Adam-zh4hm I know it's done by ranking and no offence to Michael Smith but this was the only game where he looked as if he actually put effort in to win a cup for his home nation, Smith just looked sloppy when he was paired with Rob Cross and as a Cross fan, i can say last year Cross didn't look ready to play for his our nation

Smith didn't let anyone down it's a team game and he hit the winning doubles but Humphries was outstanding.
