    I like the way you mention all the features of the engine. A lot of reviewers just say 'four cylinders turbo'. Knowing if an engine is direct ejection matters. Although most are today. Good job.

      @@WesternGMDrumheller haha thanks my friend. Jc are my initials for my IRL name and stang is because I use to buy only Mustang GTs. I don't buy those anymore since I couldn't get the dealerships to fix the problems, like the 5.0 engine tick, drive shaft vibration and control arms issues. It was a terrible, long experience. Ended up they had to even buy one back from me... I have a 2016 Malibu LS right now and it has zero problems. It has a little wind noise on the passenger side rear door but that's okay because this car doesn't vibrate the shit out of everything like the Fords lol.

    • @WesternGMDrumheller
      @WesternGMDrumheller  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry to hear about your Mustang problems. Man the Malibu is far off a Stang but like you said zero problems is better than problems that don't get addressed that's for sure! You need to find yourself a Pre-Owned 2017 Chevy SS Sedan they are impressive. Find one and take it for a drive! Cheers!

    I have the 2018 with the 1.5L engine, AWD LT. Have put about 46,000 miles on it, average about 30 to 32mpg. So far I have only one complaint. In the winter, if the temperature is 10F or colder I have poor heat when driving around town at or below 30mph or idling. I have the the bra grill cover, it’s a joke, does not help with the heater issue. Has GM fixed this issue with the 2020? I have talked with several Equinox owners, every person I’ve talked with that has the smaller engine has the same complaint.

    If they put the 3.6 that’s in the Colorado and traverse in the equinox I’d be interested. I had a 2003 Ford Escape that was about the same size with a naturally aspirated v6 awd. Plenty of power. Can’t stand turbos and everyone is doing them.

    • @WesternGMDrumheller
      @WesternGMDrumheller  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Naturally aspirated is great for sure! The new Turbo's are soooo much better than Turbos from 8-9yrs ago that were notorious for Turbo lag. Most manufactures like GM have addressed this issue and Turbo lag is mostly not noticeable anymore making the drivability of the 2.0L Turbo in the Equinox feel like a rocket. It also has more power/torque than the out going V6, cheers!

    • @WesternGMDrumheller
      @WesternGMDrumheller  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First off thanks for the kind words. Secondly these are great SUV's and we regularly take them back in on trade with 160,000kms and they are still running and driving great. But not all two used cars are the same. If your purchasing privately or from a dealer its always a good idea to go to a different service shop and get a BUYERS Inspection done. This usually cost around $200 and is a fairly through inspection and it can help save you thousands if they notice some leaks, excess play in the suspension, cupped tires etc. Also get a CarFax report so you know its accident history. Lastly vehicles involved in accidents in excess of $15,000 I would recommend for you to steer clear of, Cheers!

    You still own the 2020 Equinox with stop/start...? Do you know about the way to bypass that annoying feature: placing shifter in L and bumping the "+" up to 6 and just drive it that way? What about when the AC is on, does it keep it from stopping/starting then? I'm thinking of getting a 2020 right now, appreciate the input!

    • @WesternGMDrumheller
      @WesternGMDrumheller  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bobby! The stop/start is seamless honestly even in the colder Canadian temps. Weather the AC is running or heated seats it doesn't effect the stop/start system. However you are correct in that if your driving it like a manual with the + & - that it won't ever turn off when stopped at the lights.

    Can you disable auto stop start system?

    • @WesternGMDrumheller
      @WesternGMDrumheller  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, GM didn't make a button to disable it. But I have an Equinox and it works very well, zero lag on the restart.

    • @dannyranny1995
      @dannyranny1995 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I saw a video that shifting into L mode and manually shifting into 6TH disables it. It will drive like a regular automatic and cycle through gears 1-6, meaning it won’t go into 6TH from a dead stop and lug or stall.
      For a 9-speed, it is disabled in L9. And does the same thing, cycles through gears 1-9 like it normally would.

    AWD only 10% or will it adjust higher if needed?

    • @WesternGMDrumheller
      @WesternGMDrumheller  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Adrian great question! First off the Equinox can be in FWD mode only giving you the Best Possible Fuel Economy. When you have the AWD button turned on the Equinox is in AWD mode which is ALWAYS sending 10%-15% of power to the back wheels giving you better control than the lag that happens with the more typical AWD system other autos use. Many AWD SUV's are actually driving around in FWD and then automatically become AWD (this is call SENSE & RESPOND) so when they SENSE (wheels spin/slip) it then RESPOND's (now transfer power to the rear). Having a AWD system like the Equinox that is always sending power to the rear wheels is superior! Also if I'm not mistaken the Equinox can send 80% of total vehicle torque to the rear wheels where many competitors can only send 50%. Lastly are you going to go MUDDING or ROCK CRAWLING in a Equinox...NO...does it handle 5months of snow on the roads in Canada and the many gravel/grid roads we have in Alberta, it sure does and with gusto! Cheers!

  • @dannyranny1995
    @dannyranny1995 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I’m from the US, I’d imagine they’re almost identical except for the gauges (imperial here vs metric in Canada). Does this have a spare tire, or does it come with a can of Fix-A-Flat and a compressor that plugs into the cigarette lighter? How does the AWD system work in hilly conditions in snow?

    • @WesternGMDrumheller
      @WesternGMDrumheller  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Danny! The Equinox has a spare tire under the rear storage compartment NOT a Fix-A-Flat. The AWD System is pretty awesome in that if you Turn it off its only FWD getting you the best possible fuel economy. When the AWD Button is "ON" the Equinox has an Active AWD meaning it's always sending 5-15% of power to the rear wheels so that you get the best possible Traction and depending on the conditions it will transfer more power to the rear wheels as needed. I live in Canada next to the Canadian Rockies and my personal AWD Equinox performs Fantastic in the mountains during winter, I also run winter tires during winter like many Canadians because we get a 10% insurance discount to run winters during winter. Appreciate the comments, cheers!

    WesternGMDrumheller I didn't watch the complete video, but it should be mentioned that you'd better be installing the winter front that comes with the car as Gm forgot how to make a car work in the cold. If you forget, and if its like yesterday and -35 out, the car goes into limited power mode and driving 40 miles home late at night becomes Very stressful. Now it's a 50 mile drive to the dealer to have them reset something, and it won't likely be free to do. Guess that's why the 2021's have automatic shutters.

    • @WesternGMDrumheller
      @WesternGMDrumheller  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Al sorry for your stress but I assure you we had Honda's, Toyota's, Ford's, & Jeep's towed into our service shop as well as GM Vehicle's this week due to the extreme cold aka Polar Vortex. Almost every GM vehicle since 2018 has the active shutters I'm pretty sure your wife's does. But GM has an available accessory that we hardly ever speak about in southern Alberta because we don't get the COLD or SNOW like say EDMONTON does. So yes having the winter front installed during winter will help your vehicle get warmer faster and keep everything operating at an optimal temp. -38 Celsius -50 with the Wind Child isn't a optimal temp to be starting or driving vehicle's around or going on trips. It's common knowledge extreme cold like this is hard on vehicles and for reasons like this school districts like St. Anthony's and others are NOT bussing kids to school right now due to the cold.

    What difference in fwd 2020 equinox an AWD 2020

    • @WesternGMDrumheller
      @WesternGMDrumheller  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Nikki. First off a FWD is Front Drive only. AWD is All Wheel Drive which sends power to both the Front and Rear Wheels giving you enhanced traction. FWD is totally fine but if you live in a Province/State that has 4 months of winter weather (like many cities in Canada) an AWD will serve you better with the added traction. However installing winter tires on a FWD can handle winter equal or better than an AWD with just All Seasons on it. If you want the best possible traction and control be like me and have an AWD Equinox with Winter Tires installed during the winter months, cheers!

    • @nikkitillery1393
      @nikkitillery1393 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WesternGMDrumheller hi thanks for your response I just purchase the truck so my tires are brand new
      Or should I get new winter tires?

    • @WesternGMDrumheller
      @WesternGMDrumheller  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nikkitillery1393 that's a great question because we often think that the All Seasons are Brand New so they will work good right! However the reality is an All Season Tire is harder in cold weather than a Winter tire. The rubber on a winter tire is designed to be softer so that it sticks to the ice/snow better and most winter tires also have walnut shells or other compounds embedded into them which grab the ice/snow better. Check with your insurance company because here in Canada many of them give you an discount of up to $150 per year on your auto insurance if you run Winter Tires so in effect after three winters your Winter Tires are paid for because of your insurance discount. Cheers Nikki!
