Jim Pace , a great racer surely a great man . Watched him race IMSA and its later iterations through the 1990's . I'm really enjoying him in these short videos . I really find him a very exciting driver. Aggressive , precise as well as comical in his narrations . "Thank you for the rev limiter." "There's a ground hog in the apex!"
Now that`s how you instruct someone to drive a circuit. Clear concise instruction. Where to brake where to shift and where to turn. And such an iconic car to be instructed in. Jim you are a lucky man... Highly skilled but still very lucky.
Thank you for watching. Very grateful everyday for the opportunities to share a few laps in these magnificent cars! As much FUN as it appears on video the real thing is spectacular.
Just another sim racer here. Only just stumbled across Jim's channel and after watching two of his videos (this and his Road America one) am filled with sadness to hear of his passing. Not sure why but I guess it's something to do with seeing someone enjoying themselves so much, filled with passion. Hopefully he's belting around a racetrack somewhere else now.
Awesome, just fucking awesome Jim! 👍👊😎 the sound of that superformance GT40 makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up! Your narration was spot on and entertaining at the same time 😄
Thanks Jim for your voice over, while racing. I would love to drive one of these beautiful racing machines. However, the compromise is videos like yours, that get me out there.
Love the sound of it . I remember one racing driver saying that he wasn't watching directly in front of him, but was looking about 100 yards ,or so, in front of him to smooth his driving through the corners and esses. Jim seems to be fighting the steering constantly
Very nice video. I really like the fact that the producers decided just to leave it alone with the driver's commentary and the sound of the motor, and not clog it up with a soundtrack. The GT-40 is my all-time favorite car. I wonder if Superformance has built any GT40s with the Coyote motor. Now, that would be an awesome machine!
I checked with Roush Performance, and it is a struggle to get the Coyote engine shoe-horned into the Superformance chassis.. You can do it, but the installation (and future service on the engine) will be a Royal PIA
Im really impressed he could talk as much as he did. When I raced about 20 yrs. ago, driving nothing as fast as this, I didnt even breath thru the corners, let alone try a running commentary.!
Thank you Jim! Being able to see a master narrate and navigate while being in a GT40 mk2 is just a dream, although the mk1 is my favorite. Much thanks from Canada.

@@verrettracing2342 They did not but, it was what was holding back the MKII from the crazy speed. The minute Ken Miles lapped Ford's 5-mi oval track at Romeo, Michigan, at 201 mph someone called out that it was the car that was gonna go to the Le Mans. Especially with new tires coming out around that time that allowed for better control. Such a crazy story, and AWESOME! SO all in all the MKII did not make it out as a small block. It was the 7 liters that was raced. The small one never really saw much action.

Nice car, driving, commentary. Nice everything 😀. What is the engine spec? Sounds really nice and free revving at the top end unlike most small block 427 i have heard in the Superformamce mk2 gt40.
He sez it's a small block Ford -- so probably a 302? I'm thinking the 170mph is due to the gear ratio he's running, more than any sort of limit imposed by the engine. Ford won at Le Mans in 1968 and 1969 with 302 motors. It was the same car, in fact, that won both races.
Nice car, nice work. But. I clicked. On this to see a Le Mans era GT40 at full tilt on ANYTHING. I would t care if it was an airport runway, and I wouldn’t care if it was on that massive oval in Italy. It’s about the crazy sounds, the twitching, crashing sounds constantly, harmonics of body panels oscillating variably with speed, the sheer terror and audacity to have driven one of these things, under those conditions, with those tires, and that fuel, and those helmets, and the same gearing, cam, compression, trans gear spread, the works. On any road at all, but flat out. That’s an experience that would bring some guys like me to tears. But ‘‘twas not to be. A Superpeformance version is still indeed a badass car, and rare, every little difference in suspension bushing, spring rate, engine characteristics, insulation, and other refinements meant to make the thing streetable are the exact things that take away the visceral part of life. Easy no brained example. I used to have a 1968 Country Squire. 390 engine. It was heavy but it was slow. Actually it did 0-60 in 7.2 seconds so not bad for 4500 lbs of honest to god grocery getter. Giant front discs and big drums, wagon spec. The fuel gauge didn’t work, even after I fixed it several times. Exhaust leaks from manifold even after fixing those. One of em twice. Tailgate glass was unreliable. Under dash AC worked, barely. No headliner but the rest of the interior was in very good shape, save for the driver’s butt. It could be a pain in the ass. But my ex and I went on our honeymoon in that wagon. I could tow a boat with that wagon. Girls would lay on the hood for album covers pictures. It was huge. It did everything but did it with character, like it or not. Now I have a Dodge Magnum. It does everything the Squire did, but much better. Faster. Rides better. Everything. But I miss the Squire all the time. Now where’s my flat out lap in a real GT40? You know, the one that I paid for?
It’s not a 1966 GT40 - they were all RHD with a right hand gearshift (apart from the road going Mk 3 which was very rare). It’s an excellent replica and beautifully driven but not an original GT40.
@@stephenpage-murray7226 I’m good with that.
