Thanks for watching. The 911 has a synchronized gearbox and the clutch is used both up and down shifting. The heel toe matching of the revs is still used for this type gear box to A. minimize the wear on the synchronizer and B. provide stability by minimizing rear tire skidding on the downshift. JP
I met Dorsey Schroeder way back when he came to fill in for our driver, Davey Allison, on a road course (I think Watkins, if I recall correctly), for Robert Yates Racing. Great guy.
Grew up watching my dad race there for PCA... when I was young he drove a 72’ RS (don’t think it was a real RS)....he eventually upgraded to a 993.. and then a couple different gt3 cup cars. I did a few DE at brainerd a few years back and always wanted to drive Road America. Clint Sawinski was his name! He lost a sudden and quick battle with cancer last year at 61 years old. Anyways I’m rambling... love your vids, brings me back
I watch these kind of videos almost everyday and I must say this one belongs to the all time top 3. Not sure what the other two were, so for now, this surely is the best ever. Thanks Jim Pace, and thanks for raising awareness to this cause.
Just made my day Mr. Pace! As a young aspiring driver this is as good as it gets for me. Thanks for all of these amazing ONBOARDS but this is a league of its own...
Simply beautiful sir! Anyone that says driving isn't an art form and racing drivers aren't athletes must watch this closely. This is truly an impressive and physically taxing performance
srfrjz3 Thank you for watching. Please share with your friends. It is good to be a part of the JLP-HD team and raising awareness for Huntington's Disease. Jim
Art Pilla's old car that Nick G. put a 935 body on and Johan wrapped. Cool race car. JP you're haulin the freight a 2:11! Great video. Thank you for being involved and helping bring awareness about Huntigton's. John is such a good guy!
Monsieur, THIS is, beyond question ... Magnifique! But, you did need a horn to facilitate some of those difficult overtakes...as some do here, in France.
Thanks a lot for the video - that was very exciting! I really liked the pedal cam. The double clutching and the little dap on the brake to set the brakes up were nice details that you normally don't get treated to see in racing videos. I never raced. I only tried sim racing. My favorite tracks to drive are Road America and Watkins Glen. Those tracks have such a great flow.
Beautifully inspiring stuff Sir. That is how it is done. Could watch you on an infinite loop. First saw your Sebring video and I’ve made it my mantra when I go to that track! Thank you very much for these!
Total armature racer and to learn tracks, technique, skill ect. I have watched your video on sebring and now road America at least 100x I try to close my eyes visualize the track the apex your words in spots. Love it and yes RIP to all the veteran racers that have passed.
Pure Masterclass! Such an enjoying art to examine and you sir are Picaso! I would love to take part in your driving school or driving lessons if you have one.
William Hendrix...thank you for watching and pleased that the videos are beneficial. This Porsche has a synchronized gearbox and does not "need" double clutching and simple "heel-toe" matching of the rpms on the downshift is fine. Conversely a NON-synchronized box downshifts better with a double clutch which is blipping the throttle in Neutral with the clutch out. Personally I double clutch everything (including street cars) as that is how I learned. For most non-synchro boxes I do not use clutch at all as seen in other videos with those type cars. Thanks again for watching. JP
R. I. P. Mr. Pace
Thanks for the great memories.
Rest In Peace fast guy 🏁
What a stunning drive... With instruction !!! Wow.

This guy is his best own personal coach!!
Thanks for watching. Loads of fun racing a vintage turbo Porsche around Road America!

Beautiful car and great driving👍
can watch 10 hours your vids jim, what a pleasure, please don't stop , keep going with this kind of vids
Double clutching just like we should.
Has to be a spool rear axle the way he’s hitting the brakes to get it to turn in.
I love the narration! Really helps connect learning points!
LOL "nice and smooth, steady steady!" Great driving at one of the best circuit of the world!
Jim, I really like the added audio during the lap. That is one of my favorite vintage racing cars. I remember seeing it at Road Atlanta.
Jim, LOOOOVE the Narration!!!!!

Fine piece of driving there, I also enjoyed the vid of the blue T70 at the same track.
You don't here much about Huntington's Disease.
Can someone explain why he taps the brakes while still on throttle and before entering the brake zones?
@@joedaley3692 ah interesting, thank you
Nice "n smooth.
Refreshing stuff
love the Vid Jim, put a little more boost on that JLP next time, JP would love you to :)
Jim, Got a question. Do you Narrate when there is no camera with you????
Mike Pendergrass. Yes frequently. It helps reinforce reference points and forces one to breathe. Thanks for taking time to watch and comment. JP
@@JimPaceMotorsports , Cool keep the vids comin'!
Awesome vid
nice driving too!
Very nice! Any idea what kind of hp the car was running for the race?
this is my wife on the way to work.
Great video, that BMW has 600HP
I've learned a lot from your videos, Do you have to double clutch your downshifts in a car like this?
William Hendrix...thank you for watching and pleased that the videos are beneficial.
