a question, what is better for ps5 pro, playing at 60hz or 120hz output activated? I have the impression that playing with 120hz output decreases the image quality or is it just the change from rbg to yuv that gives me this impression? is there perhaps a decrease in resolution when you switch for example horizon forbidden west from 60 hz to 120 hz? does it simply increase the framerate or in addition to increasing the framerate does it lower the resolution?
So we are getting ps5 fidelity mode with 60 fps on the pro as performance pro mode and a new rt fidelity, that a cool upgrade. Exactly as the pro purpose.
This game has very strong visual problems that I have never experienced in any other game. The problem is the fog that makes the whole game look ugly. And the fog suddenly pops up everywhere
Even on my 4090@1440p w/ultra settings, this title can eat the performance up w/RT ON. There was NEVER any way PS5 Pro would provide a stable 60fps without making sacrifices to the RT. Which is very clear it did. With that being said, we r still getting a stable 60 at higher fidelity(compared to the OG PS5 fidelity mode) with mid level RT. Definitely a boost. I’m enjoying my ps5 pro. The game that shines the most is HFW. Hands down. The BEST LOOKING game (atm) taking advantage of the pro features. I’m looking forward to games coming in the future that are built from ground up with the PS5 Pro and larger GPU in mind. That’s where we may start to see what this machine can do. To each their own though! GLHF!
I play this game on my RTX4090 in native 4K+DLAA max out without RT, because RT in this game is funny joke, and I have 60-120 fps range! with RT ultra on DLSS quality 1440p scaled to 4K also I have similar pref, always I can use Frame Gen and get additional 30-40 fps so is not that bad like you said, but also is not perfect, game has stutter even on consoles and have you deal with that.
Thank you for this video. For me, this is the best of all the comparison videos because you explain the principle of vrr! I have an LG oled G4 77 screen and the PS5 pro. I tested Hogwart and I find it to be one of the most convincing improved PS5 Pro games. I prefer the fidelity mode rt blocked at 30fps. On the other hand, I switched to DTM instead of HGIH because I find that Hgig is a little dark and that DTM enhances the image. I know you advocate Hgig. A technical explanatory video on Dynamic Tone Mapping and hgig would be welcome. Thank you very much!
1:13 ps5 looks better while it’s panning to the right. The colors are richer with better shadow detailing. The Pro on the left looks like the brightness is too high or something. Even at 2:00 , the trees and grass hills in the background look better on the ps5. It’s sharper. The pro looks more washed out and not as sharp. I’m confused because I saw a Spider-Man game comparison that had the same issues.
I've been playing in fidelity RT mode with samsung motion game plus turned on & its amazing, you get a really smooth framerate with very little artifacts & input lag. For an even smoother 60fps experience in fidelity RT, just use motion plus in filmmaker or movie mode, tiny bit more input lag but not a fast paced game so doesn't really matter
Please play in real. Sometimes it's photograpahic scenery it's absurd with the pro. I see it in this game..Also horizon forbidden west. Stellar blade and sometimes RE4 remaster...its that good. I agree on that picture you saw I would think the same but in real it's huge
Thanks for your comparisons bro! And specialy for exactly differense details 👍 Did you comparise No Man Sky in Flat and VR mode between PS5 and PS5 Pro?
All I can say is watching comparison videos on TH-cam for the base Ps5 to the Pro doesn’t do it justice when playing on your own Tv. I have to add that having a good tv is a big advantage with all the gaming boosts (allm, Vrr, 120htz) helps significantly when paired with the Pro. Base Ps5 does get benefits too, like 40fps/fidelity mode. People who are on the fence should go to a friend’s house or a Best Buy/Gamestop where they have a demo station setup. If you don’t own a Ps5 and are jumping into PlayStation gaming world, then get the Pro. whatever you’re playing on enjoy the experience. Happy gaming 😎🎮✌️
I had an issue with this game in performance mode, the game itself runs at 60hz, but when opening the menu it runs at 120hz, so you get a few seconds of black screen when entering the menu while the TV adjusts. Makes it unplayable, have to turn off 120Hz in the system settings to fix it.
Me too. I am also dealing with a lot of lagging especially when the scenes initially load. I don’t remember the base ps5 experience being so frustrating. The menu thing alone is awful, hdr goes off then on which I think is what’s causing the black screen.
@Даниил-ю5в I believe it is caused by the game switching between 60hz and 120 Hz mode. You can fix it either by running the game on balance mode (40fps in 120Hz mode) or switching off the 120hz mode from the system settings.
Gamers saying why do some version or games look better then others, makes absolutely no sense. That's always been the case and it always will be the case. Whether you're on PC, Series X, PS5 or PS5 Pro or future consoles. Differences can't really be seen by You Tube compression. It's something you would have to see for yourself.

Gaming laptops are trash and aren’t good for triple A games I think ur cpu is over heating that’s why your stuttering not ur 4080. My 4070 i713700 runs it 140fps highest settings ray tracing no stutters. I would love to switch to a ps5 pro but with a high end gaming pc 60fps is actually terrible. 30 fps is unplayable. Once you get use to 120fps its hard to go back
I have the lenovo legion 7i (i9 -13900hx/4080) gaming laptop and I can play the game at a locked 60fps with a mix of high and ultra settings with barely any stuttering at all. To get in running smoothly, you need to enable the rBAR feature setting using Nvidia inspector and cap the frame-rate to 60fps and you're good to go.
I've also tried the game on my PS5 Pro and whilst the performance mode looks good and runs great, the view distance is very poor and so I've reverted back to playing the PC version.
I hope you test the Resident Evil 2 and 3 Remakes to see if the RT mode can get a stable 60fps and if the High Framerate mode can get closer to a locked 120fps
Maybe I'm just blind or crazy, but 2:20 shows you quite clearly that the PS5 Pro is by far the ugliest (blurry) version, right? @ i’m just meaning PlayStation can do the LFC but the developer has to code it and enable the 120hz window for it to work. I’m assuming in this case WB has done that as the high frame rate perf modes, but not for the fidelity modes.
@XBOXisWeakAF it won't if u upgrade your windows 98. You will also find games to be cheaper and guess what, you can still play games u bought 20yrs ago... Unbelievable, isn't it?

I’m not sure, but I suspect - since i can’t see any trace of tearing in your video - here Vsync is on. If this is the case, stuttering (or better to say “judder” in this case) here has nothing to do with the unlocked framerate itself, but rather with the V-Sync ON in combination with unlocked framerate. V-Sync in order to work properly imposes the game to run at fixed 30 or 60fps (on 60hz display) so 35fps or any other value in between here means total disaster. On PC if you turn OFF Vsync and unlock framerate - at the cost of tearing - it run smooth (at least @120Hz) . I would prefer tearing to stuttering, if I have to choose. If this game had supported the LFC alongside VRR (like some Sony exclusives do) it would not have been a problem to go below 48fps.
Every single time someone shows me Ray Tracing.... the image looks worse lol. And for a feature that is very taxing on performance, the whole thing just doesn't seem worth it on console.
I’m so so so so glad Iv sent my pro back, the biggest waste of money Iv spent. The base ps5 is fine for me. I bought into the idea of the pro but this console is a joke of an upgrade
What do you use for your white stabilizer and your block stabilizer and you’re fine dark tuning on the TV? I see that you keep everything standard for some reason when you’re testing your games you don’t do your settings in your game optimizer?
I thought ps5 pro removed choice, I'm lost what setting is best to use in these games on my pro.... what is best pro setting for Hogwarts? I can use VRR with my Sony OLED 120fps
As long as the character blur is gone. As long as the graphical bugs are gone and the game looks sharp with 60fps. All I care about. While ray tracking is very good it comes at a cost of 30fps which I cannot stomach.
It’s much better but I noticed an issue: some weird image flickering/break up with sunlight cast on the floor in the castle. Hard to know whether it’s a PSSR issue or implementation issue.
The comparison on youtube is shit because of the video quality ,the implementation of PSSR changed the visual quality a lot,the game looks a lot better on my TV playing in performance mode on p5pro than the PS5 version, who looked blurry ,like it was 1080p /60,now the image is clearer
I was thinking the same because all of his latest videos seem to look better on the base PS5. Contrary to what he is saying. I have noticed many Pro owners in the comments confirming what Marcus is saying so it looks like TH-cam compression is not working great with PSSR footage.
Zen 2 cpu is holding the ps5 pro back from reaching it's full potential. It cannot hold 60fps with fidelity and ray tracing on demanding games as advertised. I will wait on the real upgrade to ps6
I've always wanted to pay extra and have my entertainment center overheat just to render fog that makes everything look worse! Thanks, Sony & PortKey! Next up - a haptic suit that makes sure I get back pain when my character takes damage!
uncapped quality mode is not for us is for future console like ps6 if anyone want to play it limite it to 30 fps or chose performance mode. Elden ring quality mode is a great example it is playable with the pro but it is not with ps5 because it gets below vrr range
@GamingTech-TH-cam okay, thank you for the quick response, I'm currently unsure if I buy the pro or not but the coil whine of my og ps5 is really annoying (especially when playing games in 120fps) and I heard the pro is even worse. Maybe I'll give it a try.
I don't get it I've worked with ray tracing and people saying ps5 pro in ray tracing is by far leaps ahead well it's not that much of a big difference and again even ps5 pro can't do real 4k games coming in at 1800p ans some a bit more this machine is not worth 700 for it
I can't agree that the reflections inside Hogwarts look much better than on regular ps5. Yes, I agree that they look slightly better, but not as much as you say. You can said that for some strong PC. What surprised me was that on a regular ps5 draw distance is better. How can you say that the picture is sharper on pro performance when you can clearly see the tree textures in the distance on regular mode. watch At 4:12 min
Is it just me or does the game have an annoying stutter in performance mode especialy in the castle itself. Noticed the same on the og ps5 and ps5 pro on 2 different tvs
@GamingTech can you tell me if you have a bug I’m getting? In performance mode with the FPS capped when I go into the map screen/start button menu screen and back out to the game world, as well as selecting a save from the main menu I get my tv flicking out of and back into game mode causing a few seconds of black screen and audio cutting out. It’s very annoying and I don’t know how to fix it or if I’m the only one getting this issue. I have my Pro hooked up to an LG CX. It doesn’t happen in any other mode with or without the FPS capped including Performance mode with the cap turned off. 😕
PSSR sux compared to something like DLSS. The performance is nice but it comes at the cost of making everything blurry. You can see in this comparison that the original PS5 version looks sharper and more crisp than the version on PS5 Pro. From what iv seen PSSR isn't even as good as FSR.
Using performance mode w/ PSSR is the biggest jump I’ve seen on my Pro. Completely resolves all the issues I had with the base console. Almost feels like a remaster now, not a subtle change at all.
Can you test, avatar frontiers of pandora? I don't think it had a patch but on the base ps5 and series x, ever since I upgraded to a better tv with a much better screen I'm able to see a lot more detail and also able to see that fsr2 artifacting all over the grass every time I turn the camera slightly to me the game is unplayable, it was better playing it on a inferior screen as it could hide a lot of detail and was more blurry, every other game looks amazing and full of detail on my new tv except frontiers of pandora.
30fps sucks… 60+ is preferred always. For me on the ps5 pro I think uncapped performance is the best to use which gives around 60-90fps Hfr quality is just horrible but does give 20fps boost. Which isnt needed for this game.
If we want to have no doubt about the quality images comparison, we'll have to wait for ps6. Meanwhile, base ps5 is good enought for the games we have today.
In many examples you show, the base PS5 has far more detail than the PS5 Pro yet your commentary says the opposite? TH-cam compression must be messing with video because many times the Pro just looks blurred, especially on fine distant detail. I noticed the same on some of the other uploades.
This is the result of PSSR. It provides a more stable image while slightly sacrificing overall sharpness. I have sent in a request to Insomniac and other developers to allow players to choose from all modes (including base PS5) as some of these Pro updates forces players to stick with PSSR while base PS5 owners retain the sharper image.
Please support my hard work and like, share and subscribe. Thank You! 0:37 to 1:58 Fidelity RT was tested on PS5 vs Pro. I labelled it wrong 😐
Yes we can clearly see pro is on the right side looking much better 😮

PSSR is great, but grass is really shimmery. Other alpha transparencies like hair look awesome, but the foliage gets this hazy look.
I heard a rumor that there's a Definitive Edition coming sometime next year. Maybe that will fix these issues.
That’s a bummer for me that the game is not in the VRR window.
Performance mode is still the way to go. Sad for all the RT effects.
HL stutters on PC, too. It is Unreal Engine after all
I think i'll wait for a patch before diving in this game once again.
I thought ps5 pro removed choice, I'm lost what setting is best to use in these games on my pro.... what is best pro setting for Hogwarts? I can use VRR with my Sony OLED 120fps
Rise of the Ronin next please🙏
As long as the character blur is gone. As long as the graphical bugs are gone and the game looks sharp with 60fps. All I care about. While ray tracking is very good it comes at a cost of 30fps which I cannot stomach.
Im playing at HFR mode. Its so smooth. Whats the point of RT if its gonna be blury when Im in motion
Wish we could run the original fidelity + RT mode with Pro power
It’s much better but I noticed an issue: some weird image flickering/break up with sunlight cast on the floor in the castle. Hard to know whether it’s a PSSR issue or implementation issue.
I wonder what is the actual difference in balanced mode between two consoles in this game...
As bad as that unlocked fidelity mode feels now, PS6 will surely lock that to 60 so it’s nice future proofing.
Wait a minute....the PS5 on the right is sharper looking than the PS5 pro.
Not in person it’s not.
@jenscee7679 sure. Lmao
it's Fidelity RT (RAY TRACING) vs Fidelity, not fidelity vs fidelity
@@Aid3nn33 so you're saying the Pro has to sacrifice resolution to get a bit more light reflection. Who wants that.
The pinned comment mentioned that there was an inversion between ps5 and pro
Boosteroid has everything a gamer needs: affordability, reliability, and an awesome game selection
But what happens if you select Fidelity RT mode on uncap the frame rate in the in game options? I haven't seen anyone cover this
The comparison on youtube is shit because of the video quality ,the implementation of PSSR changed the visual quality a lot,the game looks a lot better on my TV playing in performance mode on p5pro than the PS5 version, who looked blurry ,like it was 1080p /60,now the image is clearer
I will wait on the real upgrade to ps6
keep waiting
@Aid3nn33 what am I really waiting on? We playing the same games. We all waiting on the new games
What do you think about the noise of the Pro? Is it really worse than the original ps5? And is it the fan or coil whine?
My Pro is not loud at all. Same as my old base PS5
@GamingTech-TH-cam okay, thank you for the quick response, I'm currently unsure if I buy the pro or not but the coil whine of my og ps5 is really annoying (especially when playing games in 120fps) and I heard the pro is even worse. Maybe I'll give it a try.
Pro is dead silent all the time. People are feeding you lies lol
@@Maphi93 the pro is absolutely silent
@@MrPsychosanemine is way louder then my base ps5

N-E-V-E-R !😎
Can you get that framerate counter on LG CX? Very helpful feature indeed
Why is this so smooth on fidelity mode? Mines be too juttery.
Thanks ! So if I want to have the best image quality at 60 fps which mode should I use? performance?
Will games with fixed 60fps look better on the pro then when uncapped on the pro?
I fell like og ps5 is better quality if my ps5 die one day i upgrade no need yet I had my ps5 about almost 2. Years now still works great 👍
Did i watch a different video? The ps5 pro version looks blurry at distance. I don't see any visual improvements at all.
Hi, why not use the optimizer on RPG?😊
Are you using amd freesync on high mode? Or just VRR please confirm
there is JUST vrr on the PS5 - No AMD Freesync support on PS5 at all
@ do you use it on Xbox series x or leave it off also do you run it on high or wide?
I don't get it I've worked with ray tracing and people saying ps5 pro in ray tracing is by far leaps ahead well it's not that much of a big difference and again even ps5 pro can't do real 4k games coming in at 1800p ans some a bit more this machine is not worth 700 for it
RT modes look bad to me, far too much effects, especially the floor reflections, look worse than Balanced mode.
I disagree, in ps5 fidelity is better and the performance! In ps5pro is like have a fog.
Bro saying he doesn't recommend this mode on every mode 😂 I just want to know what the best mode is.
You are not the only one, LG C2 here
bro, bist du eigentlich deutscher ?
PSSR sux compared to something like DLSS. The performance is nice but it comes at the cost of making everything blurry. You can see in this comparison that the original PS5 version looks sharper and more crisp than the version on PS5 Pro. From what iv seen PSSR isn't even as good as FSR.
Can you test Black Myth Wukong?
There was no Pro patch as far as I know, or?
what yo want to test there? It will only have small fps boost due to raw power. Nothing else until proper patch.
Using performance mode w/ PSSR is the biggest jump I’ve seen on my Pro. Completely resolves all the issues I had with the base console. Almost feels like a remaster now, not a subtle change at all.
Bro, I would still preferer more framerate at a lower resolution.
Exactly The same than The Ps5 😭, Dev didn’t undestand what ps5 pro & Oled owners wants, Just 60 fos 🙏
30fps sucks… 60+ is preferred always. For me on the ps5 pro I think uncapped performance is the best to use which gives around 60-90fps
Hfr quality is just horrible but does give 20fps boost. Which isnt needed for this game.
My pc is smooth 1440p and 70fps to 100fps round fsr3 quality 👌
Can you plese show us the matrix demo and crysis remastered on ps5 pro
What's your screen?
If we want to have no doubt about the quality images comparison, we'll have to wait for ps6. Meanwhile, base ps5 is good enought for the games we have today.
Why no mention of balanced mode?
I did
Does this have performance mode with rt?
Unfortunately not no. Wish it did (similar to GTA E&E performance RT mode)
Only thing u get with rt is shinny floors and some shadows.... i would pass that lol
I play this game with the HDR turned off , you lose to much colour with the HDR on.
I'll stick with my ps5 doom thx
Perf mode on ps5 pro better than fidelty mode 30fps on base ps5 😍
In many examples you show, the base PS5 has far more detail than the PS5 Pro yet your commentary says the opposite? TH-cam compression must be messing with video because many times the Pro just looks blurred, especially on fine distant detail. I noticed the same on some of the other uploades.
This is the result of PSSR. It provides a more stable image while slightly sacrificing overall sharpness. I have sent in a request to Insomniac and other developers to allow players to choose from all modes (including base PS5) as some of these Pro updates forces players to stick with PSSR while base PS5 owners retain the sharper image.
