    Hi Kevin, Always learning something new from you. I would really like to see a quick tutorial on how to use the Screencast in Powerpoint. As a teacher this would be a fabulous skill for demonstrations of particularly Excel and other software programs to show students in real time how to use these other programs through a presentation. Thanks again for all your sharing of knowledge.

    Most people would share screen during a meeting......who would use this? Your presentation skills are next level. Thank you

    • @KevinStratvert
      @KevinStratvert  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the note Jenna! This works really well for in person meetings where you want feedback from your audience and captions for your audience. I presented in Europe last year where English wasn't the first language for much of the audience and captions really helped them follow along. At the same time, you can also use this in conjunction with screen sharing if you want feedback from your audience in real-time. It's also supposed to allow users to submit feedback after the presentation leveraging Microsoft Forms, although it wasn't working when I walked through this demo for this video.

    Hi Kevin,
    Suggestion: It would be nice to have a poll feature added to the live PPT for both in person and remote attendees.

    • @ClassPoint
      @ClassPoint 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Neena, until Microsoft adds that feature to PPT live, there is a way to add polling for attendees by using ClassPoint. It is a PPT plugin that is similar to PPT live in the terms of having attendees follow along your slides, but in addition, you can ask them questions and receive their feedback. (classpoint.io) Hope that helps :)

  • @carolineredding2290
    @carolineredding2290 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    When PPT used the Translator, participants could listen to the translation (not just read). Does the ppt live have the same type of functionality? Some of our students cannot read but can comprehend the translation! Looking for answer to this question. Important for a student to access the educational setting.

    This is awesome! I would love to use this for my church, but is there anyway to automate Microsoft Powerpoints to create a presentation from a template and replace placeholder variables like {{Example}}?
    I have this workflow automated with google slides for my pastor and the service setup team, but I can't seem to find a way to do that with Powerpoint. I could just transfer over the file from google drive, but it will lose the embedded youtube music links i have in the template.

    Many thanks for the video but when I tried it it did not work. The host PC kept asking for the presentation to be resumed. The laptop and another tablet logging on to the presentation said failed to open open in PowerPoint. This just hung. I would like to use the option for the translation. Also if you can record the presentation that the viewer may have seen would be good. It will be nice to know when the sysyem is more stable. 365 customer

    Do the users that join the live presentation need to have a Microsoft account? And is there a way to get a list of all the attendees after the presentation is over so that you could maybe send out the PowerPoint to all of them? Thanks, keep up the good work!

    So, it looks like attendees have to have a Microsoft account in order to sign in and use this feature? It works really slick if you have an account AND you are signed in. That's maybe 5% of the people I teach. Not really wanting to have `100 people sit around and hassle with this, eating into our class time and I won't be forcing anyone to create an account. Am I missing something? I would find this feature REALLY helpful if it just worked without all the Apple-style hassles.

  • @GeertDelmulle

    Nice topic, Kev.
    BTW: can I advise you to use a de-esser on your audio?

    • @KevinStratvert
      @KevinStratvert  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Appreciate the feedback! Will look into doing a low pass filter on the audio in the future. Can you share a timestamp where it was most apparent?

    • @GeertDelmulle
      @GeertDelmulle 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kevin Stratvert as an example: try 2:44.
      They are called sibilants and they correspond to high frequencies, so a low pass filter is a step in the right direction.
      I understand that you can add audio filters to your sources directly in OBS. So it’s a matter of configuration and fine tuning, and from than on you’re good to go. Have to do it for every audio source separately, though.
      I myself have gone a different route, where I use a preamp/mixer called Rode Caster Pro (many people love it - me too).
      It has all necessary processing capability on board, so audio is tuned to perfection before it gets captured.
      Either way, the secret to really good videos goes through good audio. ;-)
      Cheers!

    Two things are concerning to me a year into PowerPoint Live being available. 1) There is a dialogue for finding a file in OneDrive, but no facility to finding a file in a team/sharepoint site. And if you shortcut a sharepoint folder to OneDrive, that doesn't seem to show up in the OneDrive dialogue for PowerPoint Live. 2) The pointer and drawing on the screen doesn't seem to show up for some browser clients. I just tested where I was presenting from a PC Teams client and my 'audience' was another ID using Chrome on a Mac, and none of my laser pointing or drawing on the screen using the PowerPoint live controls showed up for the browser client. I would have expected these 2 things to work a year into it.

    Hi Kevin, are there plans to include Live Presentations in PowerPoint into the Teams app? Great video by the way.

      Hey Derran - thanks for the note! You can use Live Presentations in Teams today. Simply share the PowerPoint window in Teams when you share you screen in a meeting. All this functionality will then be available via your Teams meeting :)
