- Here is the 3rd footage in a string of 3 of a hot jazzy session with Tuba Skinny in the very crowded foyer of the Casino @ Jazz aux Sources, Châtel-Guyon, France, May 19th, 2018. Tuba Skinny stayed for three days of their European Tour in this charming old, little spa town; their first appearance was well received, to say the least. People in the audience were standing almost on top of each other. The room was jam-packed. Eventually it got impossible to stay in a back position for filming, due to dancers obscuring the view. This part was shot from an awkward position, lateral behind the band, since the floorspace was intended for dancing. However, the videographer stopped filming the full set; there was so much loud chit-chatting and whistling right behind and getting very annoyed, lost focus altogether, the documentation was thus cut short. We must Thank TS for allowing us to get that close. Later on we will share another version, another angle. Documented with a hand-held SONY HandyCam HDR-XR520VE in FH quality.

I like this footage because close up the audio feed is direct from the players as well as the sound system and there are subtle but telling nuances. Real clarity revealing their talent. Visually you also get some glimpses of how close they are following each other .. they are Tight, with a capital T. You can also see the scorch mark on Baranabus' horn where it's likely a torch was used to soften it a bit so a stick or whatever could gently round it out.
(It had been bent - for a year or two, just barely above & in from that support piece.)

My pleasure. I am just a fan, barely a year. But I heard some of these tunes off of 78's on a big old Victrola at my grandmothers house in the late 40's. Been a Louis Armstrong fan all my life (all the Hot 5's & 7's). Your work is terrific and has helped Tuba Skinny and others a good bit. Thanks for it all.

Shaye Cohn, third generation Jazz great. I have recently seen videos of her playing trombone, piano and fiddle. Comments on those say she plays accordion and spoons too. At least.

@@elloco1996 Since my comment I have seen the video of Shaye playing spoons. It Is a superband. Shaye played fiddler and upright string bass with Erika Lewis's country band. Shaye was also the founding trombone player of Shake Em Up Jazz Band. When she couldn't do everything at once she was replaced by the incredible Naruto Kikuchi.
Not many people can create such a wonderful feeling of contentment, like this band does. A special talent.
