- There were many cameras running this afternoon. Here comes another version of popular Tuba Skinny in Châtel-Guyon, France, May 21st, 2018. As part of their European Tour, this small, old and lovely spa village, draw our attention and we couldn´t have had a better stay. TS had sets for 3 days in "Jazz aux Sources à 20 ans". The weather was great, blue skies, sun and not too warm; only one very short thunderstorm passed by, cleaning the air right before this performance. For those that couldn't make it to this great festival and for the lucky ones who were spot on, we are happy to share this footage, the last set this day. The second encore comes separate. One happy viewer wondered what we who like this music could do to for Tuba Skinny, a band that spreads so much joy. We would say, why not go see them in their home city, get the full atmosphere and for sure, buy their recordings, CDs and vinyls - it is their livelihood! New Orleans has a lot to offer and is well worth a serious visit! Videographed with a SONY HandyCam FDR-AX100, FH-quality.
Every time I hear a more recent recording of Tuba Skinny, they just keep getting better. They have really gotten their total act together with their French tour, and now they're gelling better than they ever have in 10 years since Shaye Cohn founded the group. This band is really on a roll and destined for world famous status.
My kids converted from their music to TUBA Skinny ! That's a miracle !

Oh, that dobro. Coronet with a toilet plunger. Clarinet diving in and out, up and down, trombone howling, banjo twanging, the washboard holding the pace, tuba gently hooting, the magnificent Erika Lewis caressing that bass drum, stealing the show, as always.

I found Tuba Skinny when I looked up Zydeco music just a couple of days ago.
My lands! Ive never been a fan of jazz. But I am in love with your music!!!! I’m buying all your stuff!! How is it possible that you are not everywhere? You should be on Late Night and other shows. Everyone will fall in love with you if they just get the opportunity to be exposed to this joyful noise!

I love the way Greg sings and plays. He is right out of a Ken Kesey book. He would have definitely been on the Magic Bus, maybe even shared driving with Neal Cassidy.

Great singing by Erika, also - and the band brilliant as always.
It is great to hear Tuba Skinny together again, happy and on top form. Individually they are great and totally-dedicated musicians. But collectively they are in a different place again. Perhaps the greatest blues and traditional jazz band ever. I wonder if even they know how special they have become.
