    Received this combo kit today. I am blown away by the quality of the audio. I have a RODE wireless that’s about 4 yrs old. I can’t say that it’s better than the Lark M2. In fact, with my voice tone, I like the M2 better. Great review!

    To me the Rode wireless pro sound the best followed by Lark M2. another advantage with M2, you dont need another small lavalier microphone to use with your wireless trasmitter.. so i ended buying the Lark M2. in the field work really well, and if you dont need internal recording it's a great buy

      I'm just not sure to get USB c or iPhone lighting since I use both, would u say it would put too much weight pressure on the charging port if I used a mini iPhone converter adapter while mostly keeping the phone attached to the chest harness clip. thanks in advance if you see this 🙏🏻 😂

      Other alternative is I will buy a rode lavalier go or something since it's around my budget but then I'm not sure if it'll sound good if I use an adapter to a microphone female from the iPhone charging port..

      Nice observation of the arrow on the back of the mic, some people have complained about the size of the wind muff and for that you could easily diy a smaller stick on muff just to cover the mic portion, it's what I intend to do.

      I noticed this too! I'd say the Lark M2 was third place behind those two mics. I've listened to other reviews and favored the Rode Wireless Pro, then hearing the Max in this video, I really liked it the most.

I didn't even think about putting this onto my Pocket 3... the DJI mic is a lot heavier when I clip it to my t-shirt, I love the way the Lark mic feels on my tshirts, they feel like nothing :)

    Thanks for covering how the device only allows stereo via 3.5! This got me curious. Would using a 3.5 to usb c then allow it to work? Annoying how the device can’t support this natively with any of the receivers but that could be an option but untested. Surprisingly,hollyland does sell such a connector lol
    Also, can you use the camera receiver plus usbc and/or lighting receiver at the same time? Thinking more so as a way to record audio directly with another device as “back up”

    Well, I wish I would’ve seen this video before I purchase just the camera version Hollyland Lark M2. I thought I discovered something that nobody else knew. With the camera version they included a USB-C to USB-C cable and USB-C to lightning cable. And I’m like why would they do this. So I researched online and couldn’t find nothing so I tested it out, plugging it into my android cell phone, and downloaded the app app and to my surprise the microphones worked with my cell phone. So I took the USB-C to lightning cable and plugged in the receiver to my iPhone and my wife’s iPad and it worked with it also. I was under the impression that the combo kit with the other receivers was the only way to use the microphones with cell phones or tablet. But I was fine just using it for my camera. But now if I wanted to do a little interview with my DJI Osmo pocket three, I can plug the receiver in and both of us can talk. I’m not sure if it’s stereo yet. I just picked up the microphones yesterday
    But I am really happy with the audio quality. I don’t like the size of the dead cat nor trying to get it on. It is a little pain in the ass. But the audio quality is really nice. Two years ago I bought the rode wireless go 2 but I only bought the one microphone with the receiver kit, and I really kick myself in the ass for not buying the full kit. So as I was debating on buying another microphone for that kit, I’ve been seeing so many great reviews about the Hollyland Lark M2. I decided to give it a try and so far very happy. Even happier, I could use it on everything that I own.. thanks for sharing. Great review.

    DJI mic2 vs Lark m2 with iphone wich one is better?

    • @semiprotech
      @semiprotech  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      DJI Mic 2 doesn't need a receiver because it can connect via bluetooth, but in my opinion the bluetooth audio sounds pretty bad. The sound quality of the internal recording in the transmitter is much better than the bluetooth audio, which is fine if you don't mind syncing the audio after recording. The Lark M2 uses a tiny receiver with the iPhone and sound quality is nice. It doesn't have internal recording in the transmitter like the DJI, but for the price it's a great option if you don't need the internal recordings.

    I just bought the Lark M2 usb type c but cannot get audio to record to video. The blue lights are solid, showing signal connection. Just can't get it to record audio via the M2 mics. I plugged in the case overnight directly to the back of the mac. The phone is an Android Galaxy A21 model SM-A215W. I've downloaded the LarkSound app and updated the software. Still a no go. Also want to add, that the manual says to double click the yellow button on the receiver to start recording. What happens when I do that is the lights on the transmitters and receiver turn green (off). No video ever starts or stops. Any thoughts on what be going on? I did send a inquiry to Hollyland (via amazon seller) but got no reply.

      Thanks! I have not had that issue. The magnet has been plenty strong to hold the Tx in place for me, but perhaps if you try to use it through very thick or multiple layers of clothing it could be an issue - but that would be an issue for most magnetic transmitters on the market as well. I use the clip instead of the magnet if I have a thick coat on to avoid having any issues.

O Lark M2, que estou pensando em comprar, me parece ter um som semelhante ou melhor que os demais e apenas um pouco abaixo dos dos primeiros. Would love to use this for wedding but since it doesn't have internal recording, that might be a dealbreaker for me... The last time we used a Hollyland product, it was wireless and many times, we need to mic the groom/officiant/or bride well before the ceremony even starts. If the subject leaves the area for a period of time, the transmitter and receiver will disconnect and it'll actually struggle reconnecting and at some point, will eventually stop attempting to reconnnect at all, making the entire device useless for us because the audio is recorded into the camera, not internally. Does the M2 have the same problems?

    • @MoonbeameSmith
      @MoonbeameSmith 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Id be inclined to use a more traditional lav + body pack. A pack can record internally (some do) and the extra weight and cable should remind them to give them back at some point, where the M2 would be too easy to lose.. just my way of thinking..

      For the majority of the video I was using the camera receiver running into a Panasonic Lumix S5II, except for the samples using the USB-C receiver into my iPhone. Both were recorded in WAV format, 24-bit depth at 48kHz and I used Audacity to normalize the level to -16LUFS in post and then re-synced to the video. Davinci Resolve then output the final audio as 320kbps AAC before TH-cam applied its compression to the upload.

    • @semiprotech
      @semiprotech  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can do this, but you'll have to use the camera receiver and connect the 3.5mm output to the iPad using an adapter that supports stereo input. There are a lot of 3.5mm to USB-C adapters on the market that only support a mono input, so you'll need one that specifically says it supports stereo like this one: www.amazon.com/Saramonic-SR-C2003-Type-C-Gold-Plated-Adapter/dp/B08DTP7R8M
      I've tested using the Lark M2 camera receiver with an adapter like this, and you can record in stereo this way. You just have to make sure your recording software is set to record in stereo as well. After recording, you can then separate the stereo file into two mono tracks so that you can edit them separately.

    The biggest complaint about these things is the same as complaints for any of the chintzy microphones - the build quality is amateur at best. They are not repairable and they last only as long as the battery still holds some charge, which is about 2 years. They become trash just as soon as Rode. Reviewers apparently never care about it. BTW you are their affiliate and you make money for selling this product, so it really doesn't make any difference if you got it for free or not.

    • @semiprotech

      I use Audacity to normalize the audio level and apply the limiter. First, I normalize the level to my target loudness (which is -16LUFS), then I use a limiter plugin with a maximum peak value of -2dB before exporting the audio file. When you raise the level significantly to achieve your target loudness, there are going to be some peaks that exceed 0dB causing distortion. The limiter pushes those peaks back down to your desired peak value so there is no distortion.

    Would this work for recorded Discord or Google calls? Can I set this up on my phone and use it instead of my phone mic? I’ve been looking for a USB-C microphone to use for when I’m guesting on podcasts and I am running an iPhone 15 Pro, so my old Sennheiser plug in mic just doesn’t seem to be recognized by the phone, even with a USB-C adapter.
