Wet frizz is inevitable with coarse gray hair, it doesn't matter what conditioner I use. The two that work the best are by Curlsmith, the Multi-tasking conditioner and the Glow Perfection conditioner (even though I don't color my hair). Thanks, Gena!

Have you tried Shea Moisture? The ones in the tub?
I have fine curly graying hair but this stuff I can't live without. I usually get the castor oil one.
I will switch between that and curlsmith.

Great information Gena ! You’ve become quite an expert on trying to eliminate and help prevent frizz ! My hairdresser used a product called Mane and Tail conditioner on my fine colored longish high porosity hair and it’s just remarkable. My hair isn’t weighed down one bit and it’s actually give’s good volume. My hair is never greasy. I don’t see many channels use it My hair loves protein. I’m a big fan of Quidad and I’ve been trying the TreLuxe products lately. Excellent job ! 🌹

Thanks for this! I haven't been conditioning my very fine, low-porosity hair because conditioners seemed to weigh it down too much. This last week, though, I tried Verb ghost condtioner and my curls look sooo much better. Very informative!!

eVOLVH uses oils more than cationic-Conditioners. My fine hair gets cationic conditioner cling if I'm not careful. I can only deep condition with theirs (it's balanced for both protein & moisture so you don't have to do a hydrating one after)...their volumizing leave-in is really light.
(Conditioner cling looks a lot like over moistured but protein doesn't snap it back).

  • @aquasunpiscesmoon

My hair is medium/course, high density, low porosity, curly/wavy and I have found that I can only use ingredients containing substantial protein (ie Curlsmith multitasking conditioner) like once a month. I was under the impression that it's higher porosity hair that requires more protein to fill in the gaps where the cuticle is open.

I have baby fine, low density hair and can only use extremely light conditioning projects. My hair is so fine that I NEVER deep condition and still don't have any issues with dryness. I use leave-in conditioner and rinse it out completely in the shower. I never use regular conditioner because even that will weigh down my hair. So far, my favorite conditioner is Flora and Curl Hydrate Me Rose Water and Honey Leave-in Detangler. The smell isn't my favorite, but it is extremely lightweight and perfectly moisturizing for my hair while still giving good slip. I also like Ashba Botanics Leave-in Conditioner. It is heavier than the Flora and Curl one but still lightweight enough to use every now and then.

    • @imajenn3006

My hair is like this too. I find I can use eVOLVH insta volume leave in & their deep conditioner because they use light oils instead of cationic Conditioners. My hair attracts the film in conditioner like a magnet & will look over moisturized.
I also LOVE Virtue Shampoo (and I can often use their conditioner 🤷🏻‍♀️) but they have ethically sources human hair keratin complex that Really Does give you instantly 23% thicker strands. My stylist used it & I couldn't keep my hands out of it 😂. Of the conditioners, only the Curl line is cone free.

Because I dye my hair I can not use strong cleaning shampoo, so I wash my hair 2 times. My hair is curly just in the back , but just wavy top and front.

I just discovered that my hair is finer than I thought initially. I've been able to get away with just shampoo and conditioner and haven't really styled it recently. My hair loves the giovanni eco chic tea tree shampoo and conditioner. But the 50:50 is too heavy I think because the sunflower oil is higher up on the light than the smooth as silk. I want to retry the smooth as silk and gel.

Curly ladies. I have high porosity bleached curls so i need lots of moisture. My favorite deep conditioners other than pricey Olaplex for bonding benefits is a small business black owned brand Natures Little Secret. I love their Rose 🌹 conditioner. Their Mixed Fruits.Conditioner is sold out half the time but i buy it and i love it!
Their styling products are a little heavy for my hair but this conditioners are jewels. Their cucumber 🥒 shampoo is EXCELLENT good lather, doesn't strip your hair, a lovely cleanser!

Have you had any luck? I hope so. I am not quite your age, but I'm getting there, and it's a minefield when you're older, isn't it? I am only just starting, but I did see that Gena has a video on the best drug store products, which might help you. It's a minefield out there but I wish you luck and you will soon be rocking those curls. I am just trying to get my hair healthier for now, which seems to be helping!
