Dear Gena, I just discovered your channel and I thank you so much. Your channel gave me hope. I’ve been in tears about how frustrating my hair is since I transitioned to natural curls 1 yr ago. You are like a calm, encouraging, super smart friend who knows exactly what I’m dealing with.
I hope you have a lovely summer!

Gena …. I m learning so much from you ! In my last comment I had returned a lot of the products that I saw you use in different combinations . I struggled with not wanting to cut my hair even though I know it would help . Then I tried the Ouidad curl reboot with the AG curl activator and the AG liquid effects . And whoa…. Curls even on top! I’m so glad I didn’t cut it off last week myself .
So I’m in Fl .it’s 86 today dew point 64 , day 2 of curls and after over a 3 mile hike in the woods my hair still looks great !
A million thanks for helping us through this curly journey .I know you get some grief about how detailed you are and all the products you use but I say “keep um comin”!! A million thanks ….

That’s the best when your hair looks great even after South Florida weather. I am a South Floridian as well.

Great informational video as always. ❤ Something I wanted to add is that I’ve been using some Boucleme protein booster. I put six drops in a non protein deep conditioner. I don’t have to purchase so many products

Hey Gena! Congrats on 200k!!! I was wondering if you’d ever do a video on how to avoid getting “the wet look” with your curls. I have fine hair and I use super light products (we’re talking CS air dry cream, Aqua Gel, maybe the Verb Foam Gel level lightweight) and even when I use tiny amounts of product and diffuse, my hair will look darker and wet for literally eight hours after washing or more. And yes I have clarified 😆 I don’t think I’m using a ton of water, my hair isn’t soaked when I style, but my hair is fine. Is this just a normal part of styling hair? Is my hair just fine and I need to use even less water? Is there a way to use lightweight products but not sacrifice hold? I was just wondering if you had any advice on what might be going on here. That’s why your channel has gotten to 200k, you focus on tips and solutions, not just products. Anyway sorry for such a long post. Thank you, and congrats!!! 🎉 ✨❤️

I have thin fine curls and it sounds like it's the cast. Does it feel a little crunchy?
When you're done take a little oil to scrunch out the crunch.

Love each and every tip! Have learned so much! My question is, could you give tips/advice for those of us who perm our hair. I am a 58 year old mom with very porous hair. Keep up the amazing advice!!

I have water softener and color treated hair. I use the Malibu clarifying shampoo and I haven't found it strips my hair color. I use it every other week. Thanks for the recommendation.

Olaplex SAVED my bleached hair. It took a while but it does work! Now I only use it once a month bc my hair is now finally healthy.

Hey Gena! Any advice or maybe a video on what I call an “Everything Wash Day” similar to the “Everything shower” trend on tik tok and ig reels (a shower that includes body scrub shaving the works etc)
For an “Everything Wash Day” when let’s say I have timeeee and want to be using both a protein treatment and moisture treatment on the same night, which one should I use first to lock in moisture and get the best definition? The protein treatment first or the moisture?
You taught me a couple years ago that protein can help lock in moisture and provide definition!
Thank you so much for all your help over the years for my low density course 3b hair! 💕💕

What’s the difference between Malibu’s hard water wellness line & then Un-Do-Goo? I have super hard water in my area & I’m curious as to which would be better for removing buildup.

I like the Kinky Curly Come Clean clarifying shampoo! Do you know if it is a chelating shampoo as well? Thanks for the great tips!

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  ปีที่แล้ว +5

It has a chelating ingredient called phytic acid that is said to be a chelator but not as effective as EDTA chelating ingredients. It's also at the end of the ingredient list so not at a high concentration. So I wouldn't consider it a chelating shampoo, especially if you have actual hard water.

The shampoo & conditioner were fine, but I didn't care for the stylers. The gel was nice but didn't have enough hold for me

    Hi Gena,
I love your videos and tips and your HAIR is soo nice! Congrats on the channel and success!
I'm just starting my transition and trying to put all the info together to create a wash routine that might work better for me. Just one query, I'm going to start using Olaplex once a week+deep conditioner. However, it seems protein is also important to recover curls strengh and is good to do one every 3 or 4 weeks, I believe. Do you think both are a good idea? Should I stop protein while olaplex? Or how should I balance those 2 treatments? Just thinking 2 tratments in a week might be too much..
    THANK YOU!!!

  • @samipreciado5937

Here because I have no idea if my hair is over moisturized or something, I washed it 2 days ago and it felt itchy just yesterday and today but is not that bad and my curls are so frizzy. I did a refresh today and tried to use my diffuser and it just made the frizz that I tried to tame down come back and gel cast was like disappearing, so I actually stopped and Im currently letting my hair air dry and there's now actual gel cast forming. So why does it disappear with the diffuser? And what can I do to tame the the frizz? yesterday was really humid I just tied my hair touched up with a bit of water and curl cream stepped outside and boom frizz lol PLEASE HELP I really am so lost
