    My body temperature issues are off the freakin charts. The worst for me is when my skin feels cold and I have goosebumps, but I feel hot in the inside. Or vice versa. It sucks. There is no right amount of clothing for that specific temp issue.
    I also have to psych myself out to take showers because of the temperature changes, and the wet-to-dry, dry-to-wet changes. Wet to dry is harder; I have to make sure EVERY SINGLE CENTIMETER of my body is dry. Hygiene causes me serious anxiety.

    I'm the same way with keeping old things going as long as possible. I detest stuff being wasted and polluting the environment just to keep up with the Jones'. Plus the newer something is, the more likely it's built to break. I'm happy with my beat up old Ford Ranger and Kurt Cobain fashion sense.

    LOL! The lipstick thing, if I find a color I like I will go out and buy 2 or 3 more because I’m terrified it will be discontinued!😂

      Now that you mention it, I do tend to prefer my home decor in odd number groupings.

      @KatheD 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      odd number groupings, and specifically sets of 3, are most often identified as visually pleasing by all people, regardless of whether they are neuro-divergent or neuro -typical; that's not really the same as recognizing and preferring patterns

    5:30: Do you also experience that you walk much faster then others ? I am quite sure fast walking is also ASD trait. To the body temperature trait: Even when I have 73 Fahrenheit in my room when i eat something cold i need to put some warm clothes on. and vice versa , after drinking hot tea i have to put warm clothes off. 10:06 Love that sound 😅

    • @notsillyone
      @notsillyone 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, my comfortable walking speed is about twice as fast as average. It can be frustrating trying to get between the train station and work when its busy. Especially when there are many people just standing around on the footpath waiting for a bus not leaving much room for people to get past. But I'm always conscious that my walking speed is not average, so I avoid being rude and slow down to politely slip through the gaps, and give space for other people trying to get through from the other side. Its interesting though that many short people have the same step frequency as me. So my walking speed is mostly because I have a long stride.

    • @i.am.mindblind
      @i.am.mindblind  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm fairly short and my kids and husband are taller than I am. So they have longer strides. But also, I've had foot problems for many years (related to autism) so I don't walk fast, but that's not to say other autistic people don't.
      As for the foot problem, many autistic people are toe walkers, or like me, walk on the outer edges of their feet. Which in my case caused damage that I had to have surgery for last year. Now I walk REALLY slowly.

    Self Help Books! My grandma had a lot of those books.
    I'm quite sure she was autistic, I'm autistic. Gma did not have a Dx, didnt exist for her age range, she's passed away from old age conditions.
    Some books she had "Cats are better than men" and "Dont sweat the small stuff" and "Creeds to live by"

    Thanks Amanda, you always have relatable content. The jeans I wear now are about 15 years old. After buying the first pair and liking them so much, I bought a second pair and kept them in my drawer until the first pair wore out. I'm always looking out for another pair to replace them when they eventually wear out, but no luck so far. I should have thought like that movie Character Mr Magorium who bought enough of the same shoes to last a life time!. I kept the same phone for about 8 years, and only had to change after 2G was phased out. Even though technically my current phone is better, some of the functions of that older phone that were important to me don't work as well on the new phone. So it can be very frustrating when change like that is forced on you. I'm the same with number patterns and number plates. I once drove around the block so my odometer showed 45678 when I got home and then took a photo of it.

    • @i.am.mindblind
      @i.am.mindblind  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh yes! The odometer! It's always fun when it hits a fun number too!

    Omg with the jeans 😂 I can have 3 pair “exactly alike” and still only wear one pair. Most of my daily clothes have holes and are threadbare but I still wear them even with a closet full of other clothes.
    Numbers…. I refuse to stop pumping gas on an odd number. I prefer to stop on a whole or half dollar but it absolutely has to be an even one lol

      @Java-D 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Daathiel I hadn’t thought of that with the gas pump. I am kind of weird about numbers.
      As for the clothes, it’s sensory for sure. I only wear pure cotton, v neck shirts and thin jeans. I don’t wear anything long sleeve. I actually have probably 20 colors of the exact same shirt and have worn exclusively those brand and style for many years. Anything else makes me itchy and sweaty. 🤷‍♀️

    • @i.am.mindblind
      @i.am.mindblind  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Like autism you can have OCD traits without having OCD. I have a few OCD traits but I'm not diagnosed OCD. I think the difference is whether you can move past it easily if you can't get the numbers to align or not. I get a sense of fun when a number is "good" but I don't get hung up if it isn't.

    Whenever I buy something cheap but practical *and really nice too*, I become so anxcious thinking I might not be able to buy this thing again. I then buy 1 or 2 more or end up in a though loop, quietly panicking etc. This and many other behaviours led to me thinking I was weird and "have to just live with it". Recently I came upon autism related videos and because I love self help content (lol), I started watching and exploring. I also did Aspies quiz and one other. After all that, I think I owe it to myself to seek diagnosis. Even if it turns out negative, which is a possibility for sure (maybe I just have some traits like you mentioned the beginning). Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing. Oh! Btw, speaking of numbers and patterns - I always wonder why people DON'T get excited when something like this occurs lol

    I'm usually fine with being cold (except when my toes are froze) but can't cope with heat - I simply wilt and have virtually no energy. Hot flushes have been a nightmare! And I love cosying up in snuggly jumpers but can rarely do it because I'm so often too hot - and there's a limit to how much clothing you can remove, at least in public 😬 I often have difficulty sleeping because I can't get my temperature right - I swing repeatedly from too hot to too cold and back.
    I know exactly what you mean about researching and researching to find exactly the right item, then the ADHD kicking in and you just end up buying something - anything! And I've definitely resorted to buying several more of the same item (especially clothing) when I've found something I like. It infuriates me that shops change their styles so often, so I can't get the exact same thing anymore. I'll also use some things waaay beyond their real useful life, though there are a few things I always want more of, just because I love them so much (books and teddy bears mostly!)
    As for numbers, yes yes yes! And I prefer even numbers, too. I HAVE to have volume controls, temperature controls, etc. set to even numbers - or a multiple of 5, like 15 or 25 at a pinch. Otherwise, it's just wrong! But I also love playing with numbers and certain types of maths more generally.
    I'm interested in how you describe your proprioception issues, especially not knowing what your body position is when you can't see it. It's not something I've really thought about that way before, but that definitely makes sense to me.

    • @i.am.mindblind
      @i.am.mindblind  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think I only really became aware of my low proprioception because I had a yoga hyperfocus and the in some classes I was taking the instructor would ask if she could help reposition me into a better form. Everytime I was surprised I wasn't in that position already! Lol.

    @biaberg3448 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I also love fun numbers and prefer even numbers. And I see all the numbers from 1 to 100 in my head in a 3 dimensional line. The line has always been the same. When I count or calculate I always see the numbers on their place on the line.
    I repair whatever I can and hate to waste, so I wear my clothes till they’re beyond repairing. I seldom buy new clothes. I also love to wear clothes I have made myself. Some months ago I learned how to spin my own yarn and using socks knitted by me and off yarn spun my me - such a nice feeling.

      I flip my numbers too. I still like certain patterns of numbers. I like fives, repeating numbers and numbers that are the same front to back like 45854.
      I hate turtlenecks. I like big, soft and very thin scarves because they don't grip and bother my neck much.

    I definitely have low proprioception. I have always been a klutz...bumping into things, falling because I misjudged the distance, and getting bruises I have no idea how I got them. And the lipstick thing...that is me! Once I find a color I love, I buy several so that I can carry one in my purse, put one in my work desk, and to have on hand. I'm afraid it will get discontinued, so I always keep it in stock. Plus, if I have been really sick, I throw out some of my makeup and start over. That annoys me, because I like to finish the whole tube of lipstick or whatever before starting a new one.

    Temperature! I am the opposite. I cannot stand feeling too hot. Cold, oh I wonder if someone put me into the snow, I may be content. I never lived in the snow. I've only recently realized that overheating way too easily, and finding being too warm so unbearable I will take off layers instead of waiting five minutes to cool down, is probably an autism trait for me. I've always said summer was my least favorite season and avoided being outside when it's sunny because I overheat so incredibly easy. I have learned to accommodate myself by bringing layers and taking off or putting back on the long sleeves through the day as I overheat/get too chilly.
    I like finding patterns and interesting arrangements in license plate numbers. I always notice when a license plate number says something or has a distinctive number. I made a particular number into part of my passwords because I noticed that when I would say a really long "random" number, it always ended in the same three numbers. Clearly my brain likes those! Pattern recognition in general is something I am pretty sharp at; being an artist means I already analyze images really closely when studying them. I'm really good at those "spot the difference" games comparing things side by side.
    I started this series on video 8, LOL. I'll have to go back and watch the others!

    Loving these episodes! I'm not sure if you've mentioned synesthesia before, but I've heard that a lot of us Autistics have it. My synesthesia links in with a love of numbers and patterns also. I have what I think they call 'coloured graphemes' or 'coloured hearing' so my letters and numbers each have their own un-changing colour. This in turn influences my dislike of certain numbers because of their colour, eg my number 5 is red and I'm not fond of red as a colour.

    • @i.am.mindblind
      @i.am.mindblind  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I have all sense aphantasia! I haven't made a video about it in a while. So like I was saying earlier on with the traits, synesthesia or hyperphantsia would be at an opposite end of aphantasia. And yes, it does seem like there's a big coroloation between these and Autism! 😊

    Low prop. perception is new for me, but I think this applies to me too. My need to have those heavy clothes? A weighted blanket? My brain not connected with my body. Re: patterns in numbers: I'm 74 years old and have only recently learned about the super powers of the digit, 9. For example, there is a process called "casting out 9s". You can quickly find out if an integer of any size is divisible by 9 or what will be left over if you divide it by 9 and there is a remainder. You just throw away all the 9s, and add up the remaining digits (again, casting out any pairs or triples that add up to 9) and if you get more than one digit, as a total, you just add those digits together. If everything adds up to 9 (which you cast out, leaving 0) then that integer is divisible by 9. Any other digit that results is the remainder after that division. Some of the weird effects of this is that you can scramble the digits of any integer, and add that scramble to the original, and the sum must be divisible by 9. Also, you can alter any digit of any sized integer, in some way, to make the whole thing divisible by nine. 9 is my new favorite number.

    My temperature regulation has completely failed me since I went into perimenopause, and hasn't improved now that I'm in full menopause. All day long I'm feeling slightly cold, wearing a coat in the house with a blanket on, and suddenly needing to shove the blanket, coat, AND shirt off of me, and then 1 minute later needing to put it all back on. It's exhausting.
    I found a brand of scrubs pants I like, and now that's literally the only pants I own, in various colors.

    Yes, yes, yes... [I don't have a diagnosis and don't have the money to get one]
    I'm a professional at walking into walls. 😅
    I didn't know that temperature is a thing. I'm often cold (except when it's super hot out). I'll get chilled to the bone and can't warm up... then after a hot shower I feel overheated and can't cool down. Sometimes I'll get warm in the evening, usually my feet feel overheated and I need to take off my socks [I don't think it's hot flashes because I don't get drastically hot, stick my head out the car window in -20 C weather hot... just warm that I have to take off my hoodie and just be in my long-sleeved top. Or take off the fuzzy housecoat I put over the hoodie because I had been that cold a little while before...)
    😲 What? Not everyone uses their lipstick until you can't get any more out of it? [then buys the same shade again and is upset if it's discontinued].
    I'm not sure about the self-help thing... anything I looked at I couldn't relate too... or couldn't do, or thought "that won't work for me". Kind of like a diet plan, for example... the ones with the meals all laid out... I've always been "I can't do that, it's too much work! I don't have the ingredients, and what if I don't like the food listed or don't have time to cook that day? or don't have the energy to cook that day?!"... it's the same thing with self-help stuff, it never feels reasonable to me. [No clue if I might have adhd too... I think I have some traits, but not sure if it's enough... my mom said she can see autism (after I explained it to her) but she said I definitely am not ADHD... because I'm rarely spontaneous and not full of energy... rambling too much... I'll end it here...
    I'm not so much a number person... I have issues with numbers and can't remember them for the life of me (can't remember multiplication tables, telephone #, etc)... but I do prefer even numbers for no real reason and I do notice patterns and stuff.

I just like seeing patterns in numbers.

    Haven’t watched yet but will soon. Just wanted to let you know I noticed you corrected the thumbnail spelling. Before you corrected it I was thinking it might be one of the signs you were going to mention: noticing spelling mistakes and typos 😂

      I think that is common for a lot of autistic people. I tend to notice them later. Again my adhd side I think will go too fast and then I'll come back later and see a mistake with fresh eyes. But this time someone else pointed out the typo!

    I don't know if it's an autistic trait and I'm still not 100% sure that I am autistic, but I like to repeat first letter of every word in a sentence.
    So, for example "There is cold in here", I will say TICIH a couple times. Anyone else experience this?

      Repeating yourself is called palilalia. But i am not sure if it applies also for repeating first letters 🤷‍♀

    • @Charlie-vp5tn
      @Charlie-vp5tn 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@tomasvoldrich I'm not repeating myself, I usually do what I described with text, doesn't matter if it's my text or someone else's, and usually I do it in my head.

      It also sounds like a form of echolalia which is an Autistic trait.

      The only scarves I like is the pashmina style scarves. They are soft and not scratchy and they are thin and are warm without putting them tight against my neck. I bought a lot of them when they were popular. I hope they come back in style before I run out!

    can anyone give a shortened version please? no offense to her but i just can’t watch long form content anymore (attention span is really bad)

    • @i.am.mindblind

      You can listen on 2x speed.
      You can find me on TikTok. TH-cam is long format.
      You can watch this video that I did about patience needed for Autistic people.
      th-cam.com/video/PMFIGyAh30o/w-d-xo.html
      Asking people to summerize a video I spent time on is rude. I put a lot of work into my free for you to access content and get paid with views. Content creators deserve to get paid for their work. The words "no offense" usually are followed by something offensive. I understand adhd sometimes has short attention spans, so 2x the video as an accomodation. I specifically don't put music so it's not annoying for people who speed up my speech.

      I had no problem with Amanda's video, but when I find a video is too long for me I do one of 2 things. As Amanda mentioned you can change the speed to 2X. I listen to many videos at 1.5 X or 2X. Also this video is always available. Take a break. Do something else, or watch a hobby or music video, and then come back. I find that sometimes TH-cam videos will take up where I left off. Sometimes they start over. If it's starting over then make note of the time you left and manually go back to that time to resume.

      I agree it is not always easy to find what works for you. If reading is any easier, try googling tips for dealing with a short attention span.@@sylokthedefiled
