@@MalNos17 Hi. Just to clear some misunderstandings, HDB awards the BTO projects to construction companies. Yes there are design elements that are glaringly problematic in this video. But HDB is not entirely at fault. Such honest opinions comes from years of seeing many houses and design problems as a renovation contractor and yes improvements can be made so long as more voices and feedback is heard by the government.

Get your own contractor to do it and on off go check their work. Also buy some drinks and beverages for the workers whenever you go routine check.

HDB designs somehow not very human centric these days compared to older versions. It just feels awkward and bad.... The air ventilation, location of toilets. All these contributed to high humidity.
I agreed, don't buy anything before renovating. "I've settled into my cozy new BTO 2-rm flexi, embracing its simplicity. Oh my god Boss, Thank you for this video! Learnt so much! I fear I might be one of those who have OCD as mentioned in video and not that able to accept the flaws in the material or workmanship. What can we really do as consumers? Complain to HDB and get compensation? I have questions. 1) I want to convert the living room into a bedroom. That means don't need living room for the house. Can I build a partition wall across? Will the partition wall have cracks easily because of the different expansion of it Vs the cement wall? 2) Regarding the limited wall length, what else can we do as home owners? Get a sliding door? So that the open and closing will not impact my cabinet length? 3) Lastly, are you a contractor cum ID company? If I just have a theme in mind and the kind of items I want in the house, but with no concrete ideas of the design, can I still get you guys to help me conceptualise the design?
Hi, just bear in mind that nobody can achieve perfect workmanship, some amount of minor defects is to be expected. 1) Have to see the windows of the house in the floorplan and actual site to determine the wall length or space planning. 2) Kind of difficult to be able to visualise your ideas, perhaps you can consult us via WhatsApp to 9007 3368 and see Rhys in person. 3) We are all in 1, we design, we draw, we build, and we have our own in house carpentry team, as Rhys is a 3rd Generation Singaporean Carpenter. We can definitely achieve your ideas, but we advice that you message us via WhatsApp to 9007 3368 and see Rhys in person for a more thorough discussion on your floorplan.

Ppl like to request Gov/HDB for quicker queue number for hse/turn around time for BTOs or hse/rebates and what not but fail to request for a sensible hse design or bigger rooms vs the shoe box designs. Same goes for private houses/condos. Singaporeans are no longer malnourished that they will fit anywhere like a toy. I feel every room should have enough space for a queen size bed and proper cabinetry at the foot with decent walking space and not just 400mm. I know land is scarce but we are not pigeons! For example, some condo developers (I know out of topic) give you balconies the size of TWO fre@king rooms and rest of the house is made like for the ant colony. Common developers/HDB, use some sensible thinking. Older homes and layouts are/were much acceptable. My current home the rooms are very decent. I've got a queen size bed with headboard in each of my room with 1.5m space to spare at the foot and another 1.5m on each side of the bed. Now these are homes!

The glaze tile over time from moisture and wet mopping may slowly develop random black spot and grey stains randomly as the clay seep up inside the glaze. But at least this unit has a good toilet ventilation, not like some has tiny 1.5x1 feet window, where moisture will trap in.
