  • Today I’m covering a topic that is mentioned a lot which is, how does your natural hair texture change and why. Hormones and hair texture have a direct correlation. I explain that in this video in the simplest way possible. I also explain what makes curly hair curl.

I had toddler curls that straightened out when I started school. Got 3a/b curls in middle school. 1st pregnancy straightened out my hair completely and got a totally different (silky) texture. After my oldest turned 7 and her sister was almost 6, I now have 2c waves (with a little 3a) and restarted my curly girl journey in October.

My eye color changed when going through puberty as well. I had dull grey eyes up until 14. Now they’re green. I’m guessing my body produced a yellow melanin which when it lays on top of the grey/blue creates green eyes.

I had stick straight hair for 38 years and just recently became wavy after having my second baby ☺️ I’m still figuring out how to care for and style it. Thanks for the video! Now I know I’m not crazy 😂😂😂

Im a guy and when i was younger i had really curly hair. Unfortunately, I didnt like this hair so i straightened it all the time. However, I'm starting to like curly hair and i want to go back. As of now i have wavy 2b hair but im slowly regaining my curls. Havent hit puberty so that might change it.

I wonder if this is why my hair feels so gross and looks more frizzy and messed up than it used too..I just thought my hair was really damaged but I don’t do anything with my hair (no styling no heat) at this point I just want to shave my hair down to the scalp!!! I better check my insulin lvls!

My hair doesn't want to decide what to be. I had curly hair as a baby/toddler, straight hair as a child, and then my hair became wavy with a small amount of curls during puberty.

So I was born with straight hair and when I was around 14 it became dry frizzy and wavy/curly. I want my straight hair back!! 😭

This is so helpful. I was so confused because I had super straight hair as a child, puberty hit and I had really curly hair and now that I'm out of puberty and have wavy hair. I was super confused but this makes a lot of sense. Thank you!

Great video. Very well thought out topic and easy to understand. I really enjoy listening to and watching educated, well-spoken You Tubers. And I always thought your hair was thicker than you've stated here. Your hair is so shiny, beautiful and loaded with body!

so i’m a dude and my hair used to be as wavy as it is in my profile picture and now it’s dead straight and super soft and lacks texture, and i’m assuming it’s because of puberty. and i’m kinda sad tbh cos i so badly miss my wavy hair and i’m concerned it won’t change back, so let’s hope for the best.

holy shit. I had Shirley temple curls as a child and that turned into waves. I got diagnosed with PCOS my junior year of high school and my waves have significantly declined since then, especially when I swapped again for a different birth control for my treatment. This could absolutely explain why my waves changed!! Thank you for this!!

My hair was very curly when I was a child then started to look straight af. When I got acne and started my antibiotics journey, my hair went back to defined curls, no frizz. Now, it looks just straight and frizzy, like I got electrocuted. I've been trying sooo hard to get my curls back but nothing seems to be working so far 😫

when i was a baby I had really straight hair and throughout childhood had thin, lose curls and as i became a preteen got tighter 3c/4a curls and now my hair has gotten noticeably looser (i now have 3b/3a curls) I think my hair might get looser since most women in my family have 2b/2c/3a most likely from our mixed Chinese/Caribbean background
