I have a 61 Enterprise Berlingo van. 1.6 HDI Bought from a Citroen dealer with 6K on the clock, 2 yrs old. I wanted a Connect but similar spec at that time (2014) was over 1K more so was pleased to find mine. Best thing about it is the folding passenger seat and air con. I put a part mesh bulkhead in, needed as transport dogs. But it's been an absolute heap of junk to maintain - mostly electrical issues. Lights constantly blowing, windows - replaced both regulators over time and they've packed in again. Radio started coming on before I got in, anti roll bar links - must have replaced them 5 or 6 times. Driver door doesn't shut properly and the door locks don't work, even though I got 2 new keys. Have to carry a spare remote with me. Had new blower motor put in during lockdown but resister just gone. Replaced clutch and timing belt during lockdown thinking that's most of the big stuff sorted but now have issues with the sodding DPF. So looking for something else and won't get another Berlingo - or a diesel!
Good video, after owning for a year you’ve got good experience to share and therefore can offer better feedback than someone who’s just bought. The wife and I are interested in this or the Vauxhall Combo for our next car. More room for the driver than estates and MPVs.
16:15 I'm driving Citroen Xsara Picasso for the last 23 years and it's time to upgrade. Xsara has all displays above the steering wheel, in the middle of the cockpit. I've sat in Berlingo in the salon and I've done 1h test drive in similar Toyota ProAce City Verso and having 189cm I could not see all the icons on the dashboard through the wheel. I wonder if Rifter will be more similar to Xsara experience when I can see all of the dashboard without any issues and no matter how the steering wheel is rotated at the moment. Unfortunately, no nearby salon with Rifter to check it by myself. [EDITED] I've found Rifter and did a test drive. The shape of the wheel was a bit odd, not very ergonomical, but the display above the wheel was much better than in Toyota/Citroen for me. Yes, you lose one compartment there but I'm choosing Rifter to buy from all those clone family. It's also much nicer on the outside compared to strange and fancy Citroen.
Mike - I was thinking the same but I read on the Berlingo Forum that the new build petrol and diesel engined Berlingos with seats will be classed as a light goods vehicle and will have a mesh bulkhead behind the seats. Being a commercial it will be limited to 60mph on motorways. All this is stated on the Citroen UK website. I spoke to my Citroen main dealer this morning and they are still awaiting clarification. I will not be ordering a new vehicle if these restrictions materialise.
Really? Limited to 60 because it’s comercial? I’ve never heard that before. I understand putting a bulkhead and call it commercial, maybe this is a trick to get back the Diesel engines
I have an ex Citroen main dealer bought at auction mk2 van, hdi1.6 . Got side door, spare wheel, Torch in the back, cup holders everywhere, all original on a 2011. I got it with 51,000 miles and in the 5 years I’ve had it i replaced the Battery, 2 new Tyres, a front spring and top bearing , Rear Pads and a brake light Bulb. I serviced it myself twice a year and now it’s showing a little rust with everything still working and running well with no Engine oil usage and 127,000 miles!. Problem is I would like another but don’t want adblue, urea, etc as a mate has one on a 2017 with nothing but cost and problems. Thanks for your video, looks a nice car.
Great review, thank you. I have an older Belingo with a spare wheel, more cupboard space and most importantly the back seats can be taken out completely. I don’t think they are removable on the newer models. This review has been really helpful.
I’m on my fifth Berlingo, sadly it’s likely to my last as it now only available as an electric. My current one has the 130bhp diesel engine and the 8 speed auto box, a superb combination. I was fortunate in being able to specify a base model to which I only needed to add factory fitted reversing sensors. I’m not a car enthusiast and was more than happy in that it came with steel wheels, a proper hand brake and a radio that I can almost work. As with the other four it’s been no problem.
Very interesting bit about the spare wheel. My 2012 mini Clubman didn't have a spare wheel. There was a well in the back for the spare but only had the jollop but did have a jack. I bought a wheel and tyre on ebay but didn't fit the wheel well, which was made for the spare. It was too small ! On a long trip now the spare just takes up space in the back. I'm thinking of a Berlingo and your bit about adding the spare wheel kit might just persuade me. Good video, thanks!
I have a 71 plate rip curl, last on the line, waited 10 months for her (Naomi) Not a fan of the break, my fear is failure, I have a dispatch with one of those yellow things, thanx for letting me know what its for, as for the repair kit, I tried it, Tyre was flat, completely useless, needless to say bought a spare and cage right away, and had it fitted, jack under seat in storage, we go to Scotland and really didn't want to break down. We have the modutop, something I really like, apart from the light it just white, I was expecting it to be rgb, Not keen on where the USB socket is, makes it a pain having a wire dangling down, I use an angle usb bracket which helps, my only regret was not having the mode selection for driving...the coin holder lol WOW! need to lift the rear mat to see If I have storage, had the car 2 years now and can't believe I didn't know it was there, although the car is in bed mode a lot...Boot jump.
One thing, it's common for some types to let the air out from the spare, push the hook up a bit and walk off with the spare wheel, I could not see if yours can do the same, I put a black bin liner over mine after trying to drop the wheel and finding it rusty and covered in dirt, I only noticed mine gone as I pulled away and could hear and feel something dragging, looked and saw the spare gone and the carrier dropped and dragging the ground.
I bought a C4 Airdream - no spare supplied. I bought a new spare within a couple of days. Literally two days later, got a total blowout ! - I'd also bought a scissor jack at the same time. First time I tried to jack the car up to swap the blown wheel, the jack broke ! - A couple of passers-by helped me swap the wheels over. I discovered the blown tyre was riddled with cracks. Then found the other three tyres were also cracked all over and they'd all been painted over, and yet this car was bought from a main Citroen dealer ! - The puncture had wrecked the alloy wheel and the dealer replaced the wheel and all the other tyres, free of charge. This Airdream had replaced my old Picasso Czara but the Airdream's internal stowage space is minimal, unlike the Picasso's which had a wealth of compartments for stowing stuff. I have been considering moving to a Berlingo - But there's a bunch of downsides compared to my Airdream - The rear seats do not fold flat, despite claims I've read that they can fold flat. The Picasso rear seats could easily be removed, unlike the Airdream's and Berlingo's seats. The Berlingo needs Ad Blue - my Airdream doesn't need Ad Blue. It's also zero vehicle tax. Hence, the Berlingo has been removed from my list of possible replacements for the present car. The Airdream has been totally trouble-free, since its initial tyre saga. I'm generally very pleased with Citroen, but not sure what replace it with now. Age-wise, it's about time for replacement but I'm not sure how to go at this point.
Loved the video thank you, especially the tip on the spare wheel 👍 I’m looking at a 3rd Berlingo very soon, a diesel automatic because I’m sick of stirring the gears.
Great review thank-you. I loved my Berlingo but it just didn't have enough space in the boot for what I needed. I bought a Spacetourer 8 seater van and it is great but I don't really need something quite that big so I'm now getting the Berlingo XL 7 seater with the extra boot space I need, if I take the 2 seats out of the back. I love automatics so it will be an auto. The cup holders in the newer cars on each side of the dashboard. Hoping mine comes with a spare wheel but probably not and so I will most likely copy what you have done. Was it very expensive to buy the bots for the spare wheel? One hundred for the spare with a tyre was a great price. Thanks again for taking the time to review. Cheers :-)
Good review, good cars these. Most of the parts are interchangeable between the brands, most will fit directly, some you may need to replace more parts to get them to fit if they differ too much. You could also look or ask someone to make a 3D printed cup holder that would fit original panel, you measure that, start with original panel and then add whatever you want to it, there's plenty of add-ons and modifications on things like Thingiverse and other 3D related websites. Got an older flavour Berlingo, but as useful and strangely similar in many ways, they didn't change that much over the past 10 years. Oh, and those gel kits for wheels (my own experience) - they will work on a completely flat tyre, providing you can lift it off the ground during application, but then you cannot repair the tyre, you just have to replace it as nobody wants to go through the trouble of removing the gunk left inside. If you let them sit flat on the ground whilst using the kit, they may not lift and the whole idea is ruined. Also, since they don't come with a jack, you won't be able to lift it off the ground...
Hi great review! Just and its too late now. I noticed your key was in the cup holder on top of the dashboard. The Misses can’t go anywhere far without a brew.
Greetings from Denmark! Do you have a number for ordering the spare tyre kit? We got a storage box to sit between the front seats. It comes with a cup holder as well ;0) Also, rubber mats for both the driver/passengers and the trunk, is great and cheap solution, for keeping the car clean of mud and dirt inside. Just pull the mats out and wash them with a hose. Things that were "off" on ours: panels don't line perfectly. The black plastic cover at the bottom of the rear window inside, is slightly deformed. Sometimes when you pull a rear outside door handle, the plastic trim bit towards the front will half way pop off. Overall we are still very much happy with our Berlingo. Cheap to buy, insure and operate, comfortable driving experience and the adaptive cruise control (we have the automatic) is great on those long trips. Plenty of space with enough trunk space to hold a full size baby carriage without the need to disassemble it or fold down any of the back seats :)
I really liked my Tempra Diesel but it was so loud it was embarrassing to start early in the morning as it would wake the whole street up. It was comfortable, economical and quirky.
I hope the paint won't come off when you pull it off, had this once on the bumper of a mazda mx5, attached the number plate with tape, pulled it of and had the paint stuck on the tape...thanks for the review, probably going to buy this car with a manual handbrake from 2019 🙂
Oh and that radio, when the screen goes blank or freezes just keep your finger on the music logo on the left top corner of the screen bezel for about 30 seconds and it will reboot it
Good video this. I'm really interested in either a Berlingo/Rifter XL or maybe the larger Spacetourer - the only thing putting me off is lack of performance coming from a 270hp estate car! Its a shame the Berlingo is not available with the larger 2.0 HDi and EAT8 powertrain.
Hi yes I can fit 2 small bikes for 6 and 5 year old but I think when I get the next size bike for the kids I’ll need to take the wheels off. The middle rear seat folds flat so you could get bigger bikes in but I don’t like to squeeze muddy bikes into the back of the wife’s new car.
When you sat in the peugeot did you try to adjust the steering wheel? I haven't had one yet that didn't allow you to change the height and it's forward or backward tilt. At 6'7" I have no trouble getting my legs under it or seeing the instrument panel through it.
We have a Berlingo xl xtr. 2022. Again no cup holder bit in the middle. Was told it was because of the Ukraine war. Couldn't get the parts. The bit I'm struggling with is finding roof bars to fit. The roof rails are redeculusly think.
The cup holders were always in the dash so my previous Berlingo had 4 cup holders and this one only has 2. I have seen that the new facelift 2024 has gone back to 4 holders. Maybe Citroen watched my video 🤷♂️
good video i thought they removed the cup holders from centre and put them on each end of dash or they not big enough. has for the spare wheel i got a skoda kamiq and that came with no spare so i bought one aswell 295 quid but when it goes in 3 years thats mine it not going with car and if i get another skoda it will fit that. no cup holders whart were the french thinking
A good door setter , can sort out your dropped door, in about 2 seconds, ,,, easy task, just using certain soft, rubber mallet to lift back into place, , if it goes too far he can reverse procedure, too with no tools required at all.. Its old skill, , because, doors drop when too much high wind., Grasps door, . When opening . Be careful always, if high winds are about,.
With such low use/ low mileage, and apart from lack of a spare, which was very poor on Citroens part, there wasn't much point in it really. Cup holders aren't at all important, but overall reliability is key. I had a Tsara Picasso years ago, which covered 90k it was really reliable and roomy. ( a friend did 240k in his and I've read other owners have done almost 500k. Whether this Belingo will prove as tough... who knows. I'm interested for my son and his 3 children as I'm a grandad and drive a Honda Jazz.
I was interested in one of these, but the nerve of Citroen not putting a spare where there has always previously been one has put me right off the idea. Damned cheek if you ask me.
Can't fathom why the French went silly removing the spare wheel and cup holders, even a space-saver would be better than a stupid can of goo. What's it like doing a hand-brake start on an incline with the electric hand-brake?
I’ve had one Citroen a C4 Picasso and the wife has got a C1 but both of them the build quality is shocking, I had no end of problems with my C4 especially with the semi automatic gearbox which is awful, also the drvers seat collapsed as it would with a high mileage car but mine had only done 50k to be fair the wife’s C1 has been very reliable but it does have a Toyota engine would I buy another Citroen no never.
We have Citroen berlingo for work hahaha what was I thinking, thé vehicle is a joy to drive until light came up satying theirs a blockage and it’s putting in onto limp mode, so I’m hoping it’s mane filters as my brothers mate ran the machine put the light out and it drone fine but not for long do tomorrow we will take it to our guy and then so ask him to give it thé once over, hope it’s oil filters and air dieters chocked up and hopefully not dps, but it it’s dps then it’s comming off
The top drivers compartment doesn’t have the ability to stay open as that would restrict the drivers view. If it did it would be a m.o.t. Failure when you get one.
I can't stand window switches on the door arm rest. Who came up with that idea. So you have to switch hands to operate, that's if you have enough elbow room. I like the old Berlingo as i have now. Door switches on my BMW Z4 on arm rest. If window open, as you might to say to reach out, rain comes in on switches.
If ur gonna do a vid. Use a tripod much easier , smoother an looks more professional, instead of jerking an waving about. Dont forget others have to look at this even if u don't...

Spare wheel holder part no. would have been nice to know? Perfectly agreed with the view in this respect in particular.
Spare wheel is a must for a venture vehicle. Put the wheel in big bin liner to keep it clean and not rusting. I keep space saver in my Z4.

Do you have a sat nav in the car
Hi, no Sat nav.
My 2009 c3 picasso had those stupid caps, straight in the bin.
Of course cup holders are important! You smoking your socks??
This is really helpful thank you
I was interested in one of these, but the nerve of Citroen not putting a spare where there has always previously been one has put me right off the idea. Damned cheek if you ask me.
Hi, a lot of cars don’t have spares now unfortunately, at least I was able to retrofit one.
Can't fathom why the French went silly removing the spare wheel and cup holders, even a space-saver would be better than a stupid can of goo. What's it like doing a hand-brake start on an incline with the electric hand-brake?
It’s a good thing once your used to it. The car also has hill start so you don’t need to apply the handbrake on a slope.
Great review 👍
Thanks. Very interesting. Good tip with the tape. Is it an e Berlingo?
Hi, last of the diesel ones.
Manual gearbox, so obviously an ICE.
@@jerseydaz2062 thnx

I’ve had one Citroen a C4 Picasso and the wife has got a C1 but both of them the build quality is shocking, I had no end of problems with my C4 especially with the semi automatic gearbox which is awful, also the drvers seat collapsed as it would with a high mileage car but mine had only done 50k to be fair the wife’s C1 has been very reliable but it does have a Toyota engine would I buy another Citroen no never.
We have Citroen berlingo for work hahaha what was I thinking, thé vehicle is a joy to drive until light came up satying theirs a blockage and it’s putting in onto limp mode, so I’m hoping it’s mane filters as my brothers mate ran the machine put the light out and it drone fine but not for long do tomorrow we will take it to our guy and then so ask him to give it thé once over, hope it’s oil filters and air dieters chocked up and hopefully not dps, but it it’s dps then it’s comming off
A car with no jack etc, ridiculous. Hate the touch screens on the 2015 on model . Berlingo up to around 2014 was peak Berlingo.
The top drivers compartment doesn’t have the ability to stay open as that would restrict the drivers view.
If it did it would be a m.o.t. Failure when you get one.
We don't have this model in Australia. Apparently these vans are worst than the Chinese cars..
Don't need to have, french car sucks especially when they get old; you are lucky enough with the Japanese cars :)
Car co's (dealers) are gonna u anymore than they have to.
Then they can charge u for the "accessories"...
Toyota has the puncture Kit which is Used with a Airpump! Bingo Fixed.
cup holders right in front of you
If ur gonna do a vid.
Use a tripod much easier , smoother an looks more professional, instead of jerking an waving about.
Dont forget others have to look at this even if u don't...
