Great to meet you earlier today! I've been a long-time fan of your channel, and it was awesome to actually sit down and have a conversation with you. Keep up the awesome work you been doing and good luck with all the other cool things you got going on!
matts your what got me into fishing at 7 and here I am about to be 16 your relatibility and approachability will always be appreciated. see you at the fair
started watching outdoor videos lately, And i love them so much reminds me of how my Dad and i would go camping. Can’t now because it’s too cold for him have to pick the right day/time.
I live in the area & ever since you moved this way I only knew it’d be a matter of time until you came to this section of the river. I’ve always loved it. Beautiful hidden gem with fantastic fishing
Like these camp, fish and cook videos. Appreciate how you keep it real by leveling up about starting a fire. Quality rides in how genuine your love of the outdoors comes through.
Thanks for the great content! Love the camping and fishing videos. The rivers and streams you're fishing is a place I dream of fishing one day, beautiful scenery.
After years of watching you i finally got out in the ocean and did some fishing. Been out twice this week and haven't got a fish yet but did have a good time
Great video. Beautiful little place you picked for your overnight there, nice stream and some purdy little rainbows in there, thanks for another upload brother and stay safe and warm out there.
I love the camp outs and outdoor cooking. Catch and cook would be ideal but bring a few backup meals just in case so you don't starve. Thanks for a great video!
hey man I've been watching your channel for awhile now,and you have come a long way . i can tell by the way you are making your fire you've improved a lot.
Big fan for many years. Thanks for all the great content and tips. Thanks especially for the mistakes you've made and showed us so that we learn from them. Can't tell you how much I've learned from you and not the hard way as I usually do. Thanks again!
For the lighter out of fluid: remove the metal cover from the lighter by bending both halves away from each other. Then, hold the toilet paper against the lighter near the slider that makes the flame larger or smaller. Now, instead of flicking the striker with your your thumb, flip the lighter over and run the striker along a flat surface. This will cause many sparks to appear in quick succession and the toilet paper will ignite.
That or kinda like the way magnesium stick are supposed to be used slowly rotate striker wheel avoiding making the particles ignite. Collect a quantity of the particles on the tinder fluff then spark the striker into the little pile of particles.
Always enjoy your videos. I would love to see you transform your Sinnea into an overland vehicle. That would be an awesome build and video. From Maryland here. I love watching your videos, very interesting and educational too
There are a few tricks to use an empty Bic lighter to start a fire. Like most things, it gets easier with practice. There are several bushcraft videos that will show you the methods. One such lighter trick was mentioned below. and here's another.. Take your pliers or a pry and remove the childproof guard. Hold the lighter upside down over your toilet paper, or another flat surface and slowly run the wheel several times to scrape some of the ferrocium rod (yes, that's it what makes the sparks) into pile. Once you have a decent amount, strike the lighter as normal. The sparks should ignite the ferro shavings/dust, and they will burn quickly, so have your tinder pile ready, Another trick you can do is to use the back of your knife and scrap off pieces of the lighter itself. This gives you more tinder in a pinch. From what I have found, doing that from the bottom works best. Once you have a pile of plastic shavings, do the same ferro scrape method as above and then strike the lighter as usual.
I've watched you for a while and see you're in your element today in this video. Using rational and common sense this is a great video of how to get along outdoors.
Matt - when ur lighter has no fluid, you need to scrape the flint slowly and build a pile, then ignite the pile with a spark from the lighter and it will take a minute to build them up, but it will ignite if done properly. You need to be slow and build it up without accidently making a spark otherwise your work will be burned up. I look forward to seeing you do this in the future.
For the lighter trick, you can start by spinning the flicker slowly without making a spark until you gather enough ferro dust. Then make a spark and when it gets caught by the ferro dust, it could create a more explosive spark that has more chance of making fire.
When I've been hiking up in the mountains for trout fishing after getting a trout couldn't find any more bugs so I gutted the trout and use its intestines and that works but also sometimes you can find bugs inside the stomach of the trout and reuse that for bait and it works just great
I lived in Alaska for years. I never owned a 4 wheel drive. Drive slow, pick your lines, and if in doubt walk ahead and check conditions. I got stuck, but never had to call a tow truck. Always carry a shovel ,ax,and water
Look for water bobbers. Egg shaped plastic bobber you add water inside for casting weight. No lead needed. Next, put a few small black feathered jigs in your gear. All fish will bite a black jig.
Awesome video bro! Definitely has some original fisherman’s life vibe, which is what got me hooked in the first place. As for over landing your sienna, like you said tires and a lift. Maybe a winch, and recovery gear. Hell, throw a rooftop tent on it.
boat maintenance videooooooss! Dont forget to flush your motor once a month to keep the engine moving. My local yamaha dealer say to just run it at idle with muffs for 10 minutes
Lot's of good advice for items to include in your vehicle when venturing off road. I suggest adding at least a hand powered Come Along Winch and a Tow Strap or a Powered Winch if it can be attached to the front of your Sienna. Have fun with your adventures.
I dig it bro it's a bit of a different vibe. you know what would be cool? Do some Bushcraft shelters and make it a regular part of the channel. There's a lot of potential there and the algorithms seem to like it.
Another handy tip for the dead lighter! Roll the wheel gently against the flint without sparking it fully and tap the flint dust onto the tinder then spark the lighter!
Always a pleasure when you upload kind sir. Thanks for the years of quality and informing content! Truly inspirational! Fishing is life at peace! Except when you miss the big one though. Then MANY curse words! MANY!!
Sigmocheir is a genus of millipede in family Xystodesmidae. The species of this genus are endemic to California where they are found in foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Individuals of the genus can be found from Placer County, south to the northern portion of Tulare County.
You gotta watch out for what pine needles you use. Some are poisonous but glad you found the right ones. It almost took me out when I was younger. Great vid bro 👍
Hey Matts, my family frowns upon moving materials up a steep hill like you did for the firewood. We always bring a strong rope and tie up a big bundle of wood for example. Then you can safely climb the hill with your rope lead and pull it up. All it takes is one stumble and you'll be out of commission, be careful!
For a great fire starter, clean the lint trap from your dryer on your way out and put it in your pocket. Your finger will not get raw from spinning the flint wheel of your lighter 👍
Post the journey of fixing the sienna up. I told my brother who drives and LOVES his sienna that you were considering one when you got your highlander. Glad you got it!
At your next Mickey D's or BK stop, grab a couple three salt and pepper packets and use them on your trout cooking adventures. No weight, no space issues...just easy peasy flavor.
I carry cotton balls dipped in Vaseline, wrapped in tinfoil. About 1 1/2 inch squares. I put a slit in the foil and pull a little cotton out. Great fire starter 🔥
Please do more of these camping trout videos, it’s what got me hooked to your channel
I got hooked by the butter used in the cooking on the beach way back when I first saw you!
Great to meet you earlier today! I've been a long-time fan of your channel, and it was awesome to actually sit down and have a conversation with you. Keep up the awesome work you been doing and good luck with all the other cool things you got going on!
Nice talking to you today too! See you around!
Respect
A little change of pace.
A survivalist now.
Love it

July 12 this year. Same spot. See you there!
The shot of the water at 00:56 to 1:00 was so serene. Thanks for sharing your adventures Matts.
started watching outdoor videos lately, And i love them so much reminds me of how my Dad and i would go camping. Can’t now because it’s too cold for him have to pick the right day/time.

Was searching for this comment, slow roll and get a little pile of shavings to then spark and use with your tinder 👌🔥
Bro, been watching your vids since you had that civic. You leveled up fr. Keep it up!
Love these campout fishing trips 👍
I've watched you for a while and see you're in your element today in this video. Using rational and common sense this is a great video of how to get along outdoors.
Breakfast scramble and biscuits and gravy are my favorite freezedried meals that i bring on trips. Chili mac with chips is a close second
Sienna off-roading. Love it
As always fantastic video!

black is my favorite lure color
Yes sienna AWD is a great offroad rig. Just start off with a lift and bigger AT tires
Awesome video. Enjoyed it!
Should look into the jetboil system, heats up water fast and you can cook in the container too! Great vids man, been sub for a while. Never disappoint
Always my fav. kind of vids. Camp/catch/cook.
Awesome video bro! Definitely has some original fisherman’s life vibe, which is what got me hooked in the first place. As for over landing your sienna, like you said tires and a lift. Maybe a winch, and recovery gear. Hell, throw a rooftop tent on it.
Watching from Ontario Canada!
This is the first channel I ever subscribed to on TH-cam and still one of my favorites. Let’s go
boat maintenance videooooooss! Dont forget to flush your motor once a month to keep the engine moving. My local yamaha dealer say to just run it at idle with muffs for 10 minutes
That fire was LIT!
Yeah more of this stuff would be awesome.
Lot's of good advice for items to include in your vehicle when venturing off road. I suggest adding at least a hand powered Come Along Winch and a Tow Strap or a Powered Winch if it can be attached to the front of your Sienna. Have fun with your adventures.
Nice adventure Matt. That food looks like it's super processed though. Drone footage would have been awesome.
Awesome video bud
My favorite type of content!!
Things going right good time for all.

18:50 "OHHH YEAHH" I felt that
24:30 - You can see Saturn clearly. Beautiful shot.
I noticed you are now strapped! Glock 17? Lol Love you Channel
Another handy tip for the dead lighter! Roll the wheel gently against the flint without sparking it fully and tap the flint dust onto the tinder then spark the lighter!
Tip with an empty lighter:
Grind out some of the flint from the lighter into the tinder and then spark it and it'll catch
I screamed yes and liked before I even watched it
Classic fisherman’s life
Always a pleasure when you upload kind sir. Thanks for the years of quality and informing content! Truly inspirational! Fishing is life at peace!

Pro tip.. #8 eagle claw hook.. one medium lead sinker 16" above hook.. after you catch the first fish..pluck out the eyeballs..they make great bait.
You gotta watch out for what pine needles you use. Some are poisonous but glad you found the right ones. It almost took me out when I was younger. Great vid bro 👍
Clean!!! With the awd sienna
Good camping video, keep it up!

Should try making shelters and sleeping in there catch and cook food I’d love to see more of that content from you!
Second gen sienna with a V6. You know what you are doing!
At your next Mickey D's or BK stop, grab a couple three salt and pepper packets and use them on your trout cooking adventures. No weight, no space issues...just easy peasy flavor.
Great video. A good go to trail meal is trout roman
Great video. Next time roll the spark wheel forward for a little bit then dump the dust from the flint into your tinder then hit with the spark.
cool video man, keep it up!
🏕🗻 Camping in the rain is fun and experiences peaceful camp life. This is a wonderful experience with nature❤❤
“Parr” marks on that lil rainbow trout
I carry cotton balls dipped in Vaseline, wrapped in tinfoil. About 1 1/2 inch squares. I put a slit in the foil and pull a little cotton out. Great fire starter 🔥
Great video man! Wanna see more of the land! What’s new? Make a tree house! Lol
