I know this is a three year old video but it’s so good! I watch it pretty regularly as a reminder of the basics of veining. Everyone should watch it over and over and over!!!
You have such a wonderful way of explaining what you're doing and why -- it makes watching your tutorials a joy! Thank you for these tips, they are really appreciated 💜
The start to finish videos are great. But I really love these individual tutorials. You explain all the different methods and what happens with each. Great video!! Thank you!
Thank you, this was very helpful. I'm a bronze and torquoise girl, those are the colors I'm going to use in the veins in my bathroom. I liked the size of the main vein on the last piece
Oh my goodness! I am absolutely thrilled that I found your fabulous tutorials, and I can’t wait to try several of your techniques on assorted home decor projects. I really appreciate you sharing your time and talents with us on TH-cam and as for anyone who has a problem with your pronunciation of the word “trowel” and has the need to leave their opinion in your comments, I just say “Bless their hearts” because clearly they were not raised right! lol
I really enjoy your video very over the top informative ..I've watched other epoxy video's on TH-cam but their all over the place, Your toutorial video is very comprehensive, thank you..
watched a few of your vids now.. very informative and giving me some great ideas for a full kitchen worktop project.. just need to decide which colours to use !!
So talented. I have not yet done this yet but I can't wait to try it. Rhonda if I had dark walnut cabinets and had an idea of some how pulling together the western look like cowhide. how would you recommend matching? Maybe white base color and veining the top or what type of pattern could I do to achieve a nice match?
If you're wanting to get a cowhide look, I would start with a white base then drizzle some browns, fog, and spritz with alcohol. This will give that brindle hide look.
Great video! BACK TO THE BASICS! Also thank you for addressing blow-out and how to avoid it. I am a huge fan of copper and aluminum veins. I love how it sits on top and you’re right about working quick with those paints.
I guess Im randomly asking but does anybody know a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot the login password. I love any tips you can give me
@Nash Forrest Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and Im in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
What a great explanation. I do countertops and also prefer my torch for the same reason, although I’d never given it much thought. Thanks for recording this tutorial.🤗
Thank You so much for doing this video. 👏👏👏👏 This is exactly what I needed, the effects different additives give when mixed with the epoxy as well as the difference in using a torch vs heat gun. 👍 I’ve attempted a few samples but hadn’t been able to get that far with CC (I emailed you) I thought you were talking to me! 😊 But it seems I wasn’t the only viewer with the vein struggle, glad I wasn’t alone 😅 Thanks again.....keep up the great educational videos!
Have you ever put some paint in a random pattern, then lay down some plastic wrap down on top, then scrunch the wrap a little or a lot, maybe even with different colors, medias like glitter or mica? One of my favorites is interference powder, amd if you use paint separately where ever they come together and mix creates a 3rd variation of the color, sooooooo pretty.
@@RK3Designs I wish I could send you a couple pics of some jewelry I made before I had my son, soooooo 15 years ago. I used UV resin and soap suds. I blow into soapy water with a straw and let the bubbles overflow onto the resin, then I used a UV flashlight to cure the resin while the suds are on top of the resin. It creates such a cool texture. I've actually seen a handful of tutorials showing just that on TH-cam, I was pretty surprised to see others doing it after so many years! I love it! I havent seen anyone do it like I did tho.i make it so the effect is in the middle of my piece 95% of the time. think I'll have to go make a piece or two. Maybe I can post a short video showing the pieces I made on my channel so you could see it.
@@RK3Designs You are welcome, I try to watch all your videos I like the way you do a lot of your designs, sometimes I miss the lives though but I catch the video later,
Hi! I like mostly small veins and maybe like 3 large ones! Your video was extremely detailed and informative! We want to do our countertops too, yes I’m having a fair amount of fear! Lol
On my jewelry and lil trays from a mold, I'll put a drop or 2 of alcohol then a couple drops of metallic alcohol ink (one drop in the extra plain alcohol, rest near that) then I'll blow it about directly on the mold with my lil embossing heat gun and I get the perfect veining then when I put resin w/pearl over top it a perfect marbled effect
Also, out of curiosity (and not wanting to seem like that person) but wouldn't the heat gun make the resin start to cure faster, reducing the movement of resin, or no?
If you continue to heat the entire surface it will spreed up the cure time, but if you use sparingly and directed to the veins, you actually can work the material quiet a while. I worked on one piece for almost two hours.
This is very nice! On the last vein you created with the epoxy did you have a dye in it? My wife and i are doing a kitchen remodel and preparing to do epoxy counters.
Hello, congratulations, your videos are very helpful. I want to ask you about the colours that you use in your video. I am in Germany and I don't find this supplier. Can I use for my epoxid works another solvent based colours? Thank you very much!
I so loved watching your tutorial and I learned a lot! I have a question about the paint being used for the veins, can I use water based regular latex acrylic, or craft acrylic paint ? Or should the paint be oil based ?
I don’t have as good of luck when I try to use an acrylic paint to do veins. There is a very fine line of how much acrylic you can use in the epoxy. I stick to either the spray paint or the dyes and Mica powders that were specifically formulated to use with the epoxy product.
I would love to make a headboard for my king size bed. Have you done a headboard? One that would be secured to the wall independently not attached to the bed. I have a Northwoods theme bedroom. Ideas?
What a great idea, I've not done one personally but I've had students that have. I would do something very simple and rustic because it seems like most of the bedding I saw was patterned and pretty busy.
Great video, I liked that you focused on just one topic of creating veins. Been trying using epoxy veins, they start off straight but then end up levelling into little squiggles and when they cross they ‘tear’ pulling the overlapped vein and breaking it. Any suggestions warmly accepted, thanks 👍🏻
@@RK3Designs thanks 😃. Did a tv cabinet today intending to take a pic and you know how it is trying to do so much in so little time just didn’t get the opportunity. Many thanks though for the offer, will try again next pour. 🙏🏼
Hi Rhonda. I've been watching a lot of your videos and really want to do our countertops, but Stone Coat doesn't send here to Canada. Do you know of a comparable product that I can get in Alberta? Thanks
So just as long as I don’t use “fast drying” I shouldn’t have any breakage in veins? What about rust oleum metalica silver (chrome cap) and rust oleum glitter?
You seem to have wet epoxy ALREADY on the workpiece?? Why didn't you explain that part if you need to have a fresh wet epoxy board already prepared to use this technique?

practice on smaller boards
Hi Rhonda. I've been watching a lot of your videos and really want to do our countertops, but Stone Coat doesn't send here to Canada. Do you know of a comparable product that I can get in Alberta? Thanks
I’m not exactly sure what’s available in Canada. Let me see if I can get you some information. 😊.
Did you chop the piece with a brush before veining?
Yes. I just put down a layer of epoxy troweled and chopped. 😊
So just as long as I don’t use “fast drying” I shouldn’t have any breakage in veins? What about rust oleum metalica silver (chrome cap) and rust oleum glitter?
Yes that’s correct. The metallic silver is a fast drying I believe. The glitter I’ve not had good luck with,
Hi,is the spray paint water bass or oil paint
It’s Rustoleum Oil based spray paint. 😊
Is epoxy the same as resin ?
Isn’t that flame toxic on the epoxy?
Depends on what epoxy you use. Stonecoat epoxy isn’t flammable. Be careful not to torch too long or it will scorch.
Flippin Amazing Videos !!!!
You seem to have wet epoxy ALREADY on the workpiece?? Why didn't you explain that part if you need to have a fresh wet epoxy board already prepared to use this technique?
I’m sorry. I guess I thought that was a given since I explained how you have to drag the paint “through” the epoxy 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
