    This is something else man. This is the kind of grimdark fiction that blows the entire universe of 40k out the water. It always comes from niche games too. Especially game manuals. Archimedean Dynasty, Shadow Empire, Earth 2150, and more. Thank you for this.

    Starbound's Ruin: "*Ahem* ...tentacles?"
    Halo's Covenant: "I will glass Earth. >:V"
    Starsiege's Cybrids: *destroying hospitals, targeting medics, and destroying temples* "War crimes? What's that?"

    I've probably said this before on your other SS videos, but you're a true king chad for these.
    They're simple, well done, and cover what is a criminally underlooked piece of sci-fi lore.

    Cool video, I never knew that the Metagens "helped' us out that way with the recon and yea it's heavily implied without actually coming out and saying it that the timeline is the same both campaigns just with a few differences. One small thing I found interesting was that Prometheus was so bent on exterminating humanity but spared and assimilated that group of weird cynical hackers the "Dystopian SNO-MEN" due to their efficient use and overall love to technology. PS poor Melanie.

      They did other stuff not covered in this video as well.
      They would mount loudspeakers/comms arrays to their HERCs and play the screams of their torture victims at max volume to unnerve the humans.
      Poisoned food and water supplies where they couldn't crack the defenses and stuff too.

    I was ranked 97th on the Shifter V1 servers! I burned through every ink cartridge I could get my hands on printing off all the lore. I fucking love the futuristic wild west frontier aesthetic. Tribes, Total Annihilation (Planetary Annihilation now) Command and Conquer, Soldier of Fortune, Rainbow Six (OG) Warcrafts I-III. Fuck.... soon.... soon I will be able to play video games again. I'm still itching for RDR2 ever since I saw the South Park Episode lol. Thanks for making this man, oh shit Warhammer! that was my name, before I knew what games workshop was.

    While I'm here commenting, Joey ST on Twitter sent me a very interesting essay speculating what The Masters (You know them, right?) true purpose in The Devastation and why they left the Tharsis Cache and why its tech was so easy to adapt to Human use. Its good stuff, and he points to direct sources that led him to this line of speculation and even pulls stuff from the Tribes fiction guide.
    Starsiege doesn't get much lore theorizing (or any for that matter). So its worth a look, you can check it out here: medium.com/@joeysisco/starsiege-the-masters-plan-a75591023278

    Could you cover the whole backstory of starsiege and earthsiege? I have a doc file that covers the entire timeline from ours all the way to tribes. Its a great read. Id love a video so much on it. Its the original canon of the entire series.

    • @MacsLore
      @MacsLore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eventually, yes. I have the complete writers guide for both SS and the Tribes 1-era, a setting outline by Blake Hutchins for SS:2845, and random bits along with the timeline that the old Starsiege Universe worked on with Blake. The main thing is choosing which parts to cover and finding visual elements that would work.

    The cybrid campaign is cannon along with the human. They run along the same line just during different time points within the starsiege. Its something that drives me crazy that so many don't actually look deeper and notice this. Its the same story just from different perspectives. Bek and Caanon are known to have look-a-likes or stand ins. The bek and caanon you kill in the cybrid campaign aren't the real ones. The real ones were on the mission cardinal spear. Your next killed the look-a-likes. Most of this can be found in the logs and text within the game. But some of it is within one campaign, where the other bit of information is in the other.
    Great video otherwise and this is very common.

    • @MacsLore
      @MacsLore  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      While it's not beyond the realm of possibility that they had stand-ins for Harabec & Caanon, I dont believe I've seen anything that's been stated in the O-Web entries or the Writers Guide thats implied or even mentioned their usage. Even if it was true, it still doesn't explain the differences in how the Melanie event plays out depending on which campaign you're playing, the arrival of Alliance forces on Earth, the Cybrids using Trojan Horse children to destroy Dies Irae ships , and the placement of a large asteroid in the pathway of the Dies Irae beam forcing the Alliance to call the project a failure.
      Unless there really is an official document or recorded verdict on this from an official source that I haven't seen, I'm still inclined to believe that the campaigns are alternate timelines that are almost identical and not one timeline.
