Thank you GTN for sharing this wonderful information.... I would request you to make some videos regarding which brand /company goggles should be used for practice if it is possible with you guyz.... ✌️
you probably dont care but does anyone know a trick to log back into an Instagram account..? I stupidly lost my account password. I appreciate any help you can give me.
Awesome, recommendations on fit. I am doing a google review series and have noticed that goggles that fit the best can be worn pretty lose. The other thing I noticed is that the depth of the goggles can play an effect when you’re experiencing leaks when diving or pushing hard off the wall. Hope everyone is getting some solid swimming in this winter! 🏊♂️
I never wore goggles when I learned to swim as a kid, and I wish I had. I love being in the water, but I have poor eyesight and am extremely clumsy with glasses. So I wear contact lenses pretty much everywhere. Not having perfect fitting goggles really takes away from the swimming experience because I had a choice of either: A: Barely being able to see and then having to put contacts back in whilst in a public changing room. B: Risk getting pool water in my eyes - thus screwing the lenses up and risking an eye infection. A good pair of goggles is the difference between me being able to enjoy all the strokes, or being stuck doing backstroke for the whole session and conscious of not being able to see.
The shape of the goggle is the most important. A good fitting goggle does not leak at all, no matter how loose you set the strap. A simple strap what is split only at the backside is just a marketing bullshit, does not have any noticeable effect. Either a completely split strap (better and easier fit), or a simple strap does the work. I personally prefer small racing style goggles. The big, overinflated "triathlon" or "recreational" models all leak.
Arena Air Speed for me. Really light and you can swap the nose piece to suit. I wear them fairly loose and now just place them over my eyes after putting strap in right place on back of head. I’d previously - wrongly - been pushing the goggles at the front to create suction as I thought I needed to do this to avoid leaking. Wrong! This just left me with marks and leaking. Now looser and just placing them leaves hardly any marks and they don’t leak. Hurrah!
Do goggles typical increase in pressure against your eye socket when you swim over a long duration? I generally to a long distance swim (1hour). They feel fine for the first 30 minutes or so, but my goggles start to feel uncomfortable in the eye socket area at the 35-40 minute mark. It’s almost as if the suction increases. Any suggestions?
I used to face the same issue as well. However I figured that once I loosened the straps a little bit more it was much better. Although I did still feel a bit more pressure after the first 30 minutes. I'm sure theres a reason behind why
Last time I swam 2hs and a vein in my eye was torn, half of the eye white went red, the eye ached. I had a feeling that the gogles were glued to my eyes. Maybe the solution will be the big gogles covering half of your face, not putting so much pressure immediately around your eyes. Edit: Inspired by your observation, I made an experiment . I fastened my gogles really lose, so I felt comfortable and started swimming on my backs first and didn't immerse my face for the first 45 minutes. Then I immersed fully and my gogles weren't leaking. When I pulled them off after 2h30m swim I felt as If I didn't wear them at all. It was really amasing.
I was wondering: In general I don’t face the issues described in the video (no headaches etc) but when I come out of the water, I always have a very noticeable line of where I’ve worn my goggles. Is this normal or is it a sign that I am wearing them to tightly?
i did my first long(er) distance swim a few days ago and at the end it felt like my eyes were going to pop out, just like the video says. i'll be trying these tips and maybe give new glasses a go, thanks!
I hope you'll make a video about Swedish goggles cause they were the top choice of swimmers for racing before and some today (like Mellouli and etc.) because most new generation swimmers/triathletes haven't heard about this. also if you are running tight on budget, this is a strong pic for me. (I'm a big fan of this goggles) good thing an elder swimmer suggested me to try a pair.
I use to swim back in the 80’s and back then I remember I could never find a pair of goggles that fit right, comfortable without letting water in. I’ve just returned to swimming and I’m back to square one... I still can’t find googles that fit, I’ve tried so many different ones but they all hurt, and no matter what I do they all LEAK! I don’t know what to do.
Magic 5 goggles all the way. The BEST googles i have ever worn in my 25 year swimming career. A few more £££ but definitely worth it! Coming in second for me are the Swedish goggles.
Ive the same Rola goggles, love them. But on 3rd pair now as the straps keep snapping. Roka have replaced the entire goggles free each time. Not sure why they keep snapping.
How do you prevent goggle from fogging up? No one sells GLASS goggles with double layer glass. Just polycarbonate single layers. The factory anti-fog treatment wear off in a few months, and then that is it.. it fogs.
i always hate how the goggles when i take them off puff up the surrounding skin almost like the surrounding skin near the cushioning is inflamed and puffed up with air making red lines around my eye sockets its also uncomfortable
I find it impossible not to have my eyebrow trapped inbetween the upper seal, because the goggles aren't big enough to cover the entire brow, and there isn't enough space between my brow and eyeball to comfortably place them.
I've recently got the Magic 5 - and been experiencing this same thing with all goggles. Am I doing something wrong, or its just the way it is? When pushing off the wall and if my head is facing down I ALWAYS get water in the goggles, where if my head is facing straight (which I believe slows me down) is all good.
What goggle hacks do you have? Leave us a comment!
I use dishwasher rinse aid to clean them whenever they collected stains and store them always in a soft microfibre cloth.

@@eingast7798 woah... didn't know you could wash them. I can see through my 10 year old goggles again HAHA
AquaSphere fit me best.

Great tips. I just wanted to share that prescription goggles made a HUGE difference for me in the pool and open water.

Nice video! Everytime i dive my goggles get water.. any tips on that?

I only get water seeping into the left eye. The right one stays totally tight all through the session.
Same! What’s that about
Same
Haha..
Same ..
Same with me😂.
Bruh same thing happening with me for since a week. Why is this happening??
Great tip about goggles on before swim cap for triathletes, I did wonder about the pros and cons.
I usually use two caps: one that i put on first, then goggles, then another cap

gabor parlagh - Yeah, I’ve noticed the bigger goggles are harder to get the fit right. I think it has to do with the brow bone. 🤷🏻♂️
What brand would you recommend in this case (small goggles )

Too tight i think they should have good suction but not pressure
As long as they dont hurt it isnt too tight

Swedish goggles generally dont fit asian faces very well. They were the most uncomfortable goggles I've tried.
HOW DO I ADJUST THE STRAPS ?

Thank you! very helpful!
I just got my arena cobra goggles but they immediately felt cheaply made and are very uncomfortable. Maybe i’m doing something wrong?
I get red rings around my eyes after 1k or 2k swims, ive tried changing goggles etc but all seem to do the same 😪
Ive the same Rola goggles, love them. But on 3rd pair now as the straps keep snapping. Roka have replaced the entire goggles free each time. Not sure why they keep snapping.
Good to know that i actually dont have to swim withh my eyes hurting- thanks :-)
Great video!
I'm watching this to make sure my eyelash extensions dont get ruined ;)
I bought swan brand googles, they look so cool, but it hurts my eyeballs so much, they are so small and tight.. now I don't know what to use.

Antifog spray works on all of my googles which lost antifog layer.
Antifog spray lasts about 3 workouts for me (6 hours).
I use baby shampoo works for me and cheaper than anti fog spray
Thank you. Liked and subscribed
Welcome!
i always hate how the goggles when i take them off puff up the surrounding skin
almost like the surrounding skin near the cushioning is inflamed and puffed up with air making red lines around my eye sockets
its also uncomfortable

Thank you.

U.S. Divers Pronto Swim Goggles for Adults - Quality, Leak-Free, UV and Anti-Fog Protection (Blue)
Thank you 😊
