We have thee largest Costco here but our family calls it 'The 300'. No matter what we go for there and all of our best efforts, you don't leave without spending at least 300!
Same! At my local Japanese grocery stores, they all had Canadian pork! Chicken was either from Japan or Brazil (usually the cheapest). For beef, it was either Japan, Australia (the most affordable) or the US. 😆 - A fellow Canadian 🇨🇦
What's more absurd is that Canadian pork is more expensive in Canadian grocery stores than in Japan. In Japan, Canadian pork loin is priced at 70-120 JPY per 100g (approx 0.65-1.10 CAD), while in Canada, it typically costs around $1.50-2.50 per 100g. It’s baffling that pork from Canada is cheaper on the other side of the world. This highlights serious issues in the Canadian grocery market, especially with large companies like Loblaw dominating so many stores.
Yes...as long as it's not American pork because they allow the pork feed to literally be full of like spare pig parts so the feed is cannibalizing and I am just expecting some mad pig disease to break out.
@@ArohaStill idk where you heard this but as someone who has lived on a farm. that's fully illegal you can even look it up. what you hear and what is real is vastly different and that's why we need to do our research before believing stuff online. this is a great example of how its damaging.
This is absolute torture watching you eat all this tasty food. I'm definitely gonna buy the exact same sushi platter and seafood when I fly to Japan and visit Costco there.
The hashed beef reminds me of the one episode from Samurai Gourmet where he ordered the hashed beef and it looked so good I had to make it myself because he made it look delectable 🤤
I fought I was watching a giant advertisement for that store haha. But most things did look good I must say! Ofcourse that sushi can't compare to really "fresh" sushi but for the price it seems really good
Canada Pork is terrific. For a while, Ontario had a long campaign calling it the other white meat and telling you to put Pork on Your Fork. We didn't have that Boar Taint problem the US had during the pandemic. Also, sometimes, heritage brands. Try out Seed to Sausage in Sharbot Lake. Or any Tamworth Breeds.
"hash beef" is actually "hayashi beef". Despite a common English translation as "hashed beef", that is only conjecture. It is not hashed. (which is a dish of chopped meat and potatoes).
yeah but no its hayashi rice and the beef is hashed lol "Hayashi rice, also called hashed beef, is a Japanese dish of beef stew served with rice" if for some reason you needed proof
Japanese Costco seems like Japanese 7-11; knocking it out of the park in comparison! I recall that American Costco is good, too, mind you, as opposed to American 7-11.
Too cool. Mike, I miss the first hot pot video i saw.. You were with other 2 people. Miss it. Send a link if u remember. I think that's when became a hotpot dumper. Lol
Oh you make me hungry while watching the at first the drink was look so interesting to taste they look great and I know the taste was good and your dinner was so amazing your food are so interesting to eat I love it Thanks for sharing your wonderful day with great food
am i the only one who makes food that will last long enough for this mans videos? i just downed like a pound of mac n cheese not thinking lmfao. he just makes it all sound so good if im not eating it feels wrong
Keep in mind though most of the fish for the sushi was probably farm raised hence the cheap price. You cannot compare Tsukiji because they are using fresh wild fish.
I live in Japan and have been to Costco countless times. The sushi is not bad but to say it’s that good is kind of an exaggeration. The rice is definitely on the harder side.
Yes, I agree. If you lived outside of Japan and saw this sushi, you would think it looks delicious and reasonably priced. But what if you lived in Japan? There are so many better options.
@@qcommonsense but clearly not or else they wouldn't sell in Japan, so even for Japanese citizens it's a worthwhile purchase. He even mentions the size of it being 3x the size of sushi he gets at Japanese restaurants. And you can always steam the rice back to life at home if it's a bit hard.
for a food vlogger he doesnt half like packaged rubbish - he goes from 3 day smoked meats to saying how fantastic pot noodles are - very strange combo 😄

I haven't been to Costco in a while, but I'm going today. I'll check what we have in Canada now. It's surprising how much stuff we still have available in Canada, like the snack wraps at McDonald's. 🤤 🌯
I think at some point you have to ask HOW the prices at Costco are so much lower than other local stores. That sushi for example - I have a feeling that the fishermen are getting SCREWED over the price they're selling to Costo. Sure, it's maybe a more reliable sale, but I'd love to see the comparative economics behind it.
Not sure if it's different in Japan, but how it works in America is the Costco buys in bulk vs small shops that buy more reasonable sized portions. Bulk gets a discount where smaller purchases get an upcharge, usually because they have an ongoing deal with the providers.
Nothing is ever new with Mike Chen it’s either Singapore, Japan, Korea and America not much adventuring or variety. There’s only so many times you can say omg this is the best thing I have had until u invalidate urself lol

He doesn’t like to damage small businesses so if he goes somewhere he doesn’t like he doesn’t post about it. At the end of the day he knows places are trying their best and things can go wrong at the time of his visit for different reasons. However that obviously doesn’t apply to corporations like reviewing McDonald’s. He’s talked about this approach on a few of his videos👍. Hope that helps

Those frozen Ipoudo noodles are tsukemen.

I miss the Combo Pizza. Why did they ever discontinue it in the United States.

Reasons to move to japan:
1) food in general just food
2)JDM legends
3) Samurai/ Shinobi culture
4) Costco still has supreme pizza😂😭
