- How to make a Southside
Today we are making a Southside, a classic gin-based sour recipe. Refreshingly balanced and with the addition of fresh mint.
Apparently originating out of the Twenty-One Club in New York whilst a long version over crushed ice were being served during prohibition on the southside of Chicago.

A classic that needs to be reshooted 😉
Hey steve is great seeing u grow on youtube! I feel ur hair went to your face a little with the years haha cheers man!
Jesus Steve, I just came from your east side video and you look young here!!!!!! Only a young chap!!!!!’n
Hey Steve! Love your videos, big fan! Can i make this a shot drink or it’s something to be sipped??
Hello Steve.
You know the video is old, when the trade mark of Steve is not even part of the video: no characteristic smile during the shaking process. :/ :D
Haha, this one is ancient!
You should try this with 60ml gin, 30ml lime, 15ml simple. Shake and pour a splash of carbonated water in the tin, then single strain into a coup. It’s very refreshing!
A cross between a Rickey, Southside and Collins!
Really like your videos. Only thing I’m not a fan of is the shaking of the mint. Pulverizing mint creates a bitter flavor, just keep that in mind😁 try muddling next time
What's the difference between gimlet and southside?
A gimlet is simple mix of gin and lime cordial, a southside is a gin sour with lime, sugar and mint!

too easy to not make at home
because im james bond ;) no but you’re causing the top notes to dissipate ny shaking the gin so the gin loosees its crisp. So if you want to keep all the flavours you should stirr it !
I understand your argument when making something like a martini but not for a drink like this that is mixed with fresh citrus..
Dont shake the gin please, !
Why not HB?
