I have the phoenix version of this knife (one sided) in OD green, black blade and custom from ASHEVILLE Steel in s90v. It’s an amazing knife and to be honest it’s one of my favorite knifes I own. Btw, this is not a “gravity knife” it’s technically a folding knife. A gravity knife is basically a OTF that drops free (gravity)when you release a lever and turn it upside down.
You don't have to do that werid ass manuever to open it Frankie you can just squeeze the pivot and flick your wrist to open it. They also have the Phoenix I believe, it's a straight back with like a tiny bit of an upsweep and it has an convex grind, it's supposed to be the warlock but actually useable to an extent as the mechanism isn't very strong in general. thanks

Many knives are more expensive than guns. I usually keep a legal blade knife on me . If you have a knife it seems to always come in handy, especially a multi blade knife.
Dagger blade isn't for cutting rope or paper, possibly good for getting into a clam shell package that will be finished off with shears. Dagger blades are made for one thing and that's for stabbing!
You joke about US companies not having S35VN, but it seems like they barely have S30V sometimes. Somehow 154CM is still huge for US makers. Protech, Kershaw Launch, Emerson, Piranha, Hogue, Benchmade (until recently), TOPS (when then want something more stainless than 1095), all primarily use 154CM. It's like the people that make tactical knives in America don't realize powdered steels exist.
When I was a kid all my cheap knives where gravity knives🤔 you know because I didn't ever tighten pivots when they got loose so I only had to point them down and gravity would pull them open..
It would be even cooler if the end of it was completely closed without the blade end being visible. That would require some kind of movable slot cover.
I thought I would chime in. Earlier this summer,on my birthday. I contacted Asheville Steel and went to their "store". There isnt always someone in their store/office. Call ahead !!!!! Anyway they had multiple models using the same opening mechanism. The single sided tanto blade model could be EDC'ed, without any difficulties whatsoever! From what I can tell they are good people making a good product. Would be nice to see some more of their work! Send some business their way, right here in the good ole US of A!
I have a Soze, great knife! Unfortunately Paragon's are illegal here and it's hard to get anyone to ship. If you're lucky, maybe a Chinese knock off company might ship to a restricted area lol
My UTX-85 just saved me from a nasty hospital visit. Its narrow dagger blade went into my thigh above the knee about 3/4 inch and luckily thanks to its slim size, it didnt hit the artery and barely clipped my quadricep. Any other knife I woulda been losing a lot of blood
I wouldnt call that a true gravity knife. I had 2 in 1968. There are no buttons to bush. You have to practice the wrist snap to make it work. It takes some skill to open them.
Mine is a red Phoenix. And I've almost hard used it. Just a thin tip. Other than that I have almost destroyed mines. And still works great. Just got mines out from watching this video.
Oh no dagger blades are less useful edc blades? 😬😬😬😬😬😬 I have to disagree for only one knife, my utx-70 D/E because my two inch blade has 4 inches of edge.. I keep one side "toothy" and the other side polished so I have both edges on one blade. It is a backup but it gets used. I totally understand a full sized knife being double edge being less useful though. Don't think I'd carry a full size D/E knife as an edc
Not gonna lie, looks like a pile of crap for 300 bucks. Its like half a butterfly knife. Just get a regular butterfly. Or a protech godfather. I mean it might be ok if it was cheaper but honestly I wouldn't buy a design like that for 20 bucks lol. Not to mention its a legal nightmare. Double edge AND a gravity knife. And like I said, it kind of looks like the Godfather without a spring. And you can get the godfather for like 200 bucks if you just want a plain black one. And if you want a knife that kind of works like a gravity knife just get a benchmade axis lock. Once you pull the lock back the blade pretty much drops out anyway.
I had one... The sorcerer grind looks cool but I find that it causes lots of friction when cutting like cardboard. Also super thick behind the edge. Lastly, the handles shift when the knife is open.. That annoys me... BTW, blade play is eliminated when the knife is gripped hard... Cool fun knife tho. I sold mine for the zt0562 🤷🏼♂️
That's a nice looking knife but I still prefer my Microtech Katana. It ejects the blade through the front of the case with the push of a button and retracts easily. It cost me $590 but was well worth it. I was afraid of it at first but they're made so well that it's impossible to eject the blade accidentally. I never have.
I’m convinced Asheville steel is thumbing their nose at NYC’s stupid knife laws. This knife checks all 3 boxes. Dagger blade, check. Gravity knife, check. 4” blade, check.
mine has zero blade play ... absolutely none I have the same one as in the video. Best fidget fun for when your fingers get sore from everything else : D
Pretty much, and that is where the legal issues come into play. Most knife laws center around them being used as a deadly weapon. Don't say its a weapon or admit to carrying it for self defense and in most cases you are ok. The problem with knives like this is it is hard to justify or explain any other purpose for them. This is why double edged knives are illegal in so many places. The law sees no other use for them other than as a weapon. Knife laws can be really vague and weird. Some places they are not even knife laws, they are the use or carry of a deadly weapon or something like that. In some places admitting to carrying a sharpened no 2 pencil for defense would be against the law. The upside is a lot of cops won't charge you just for having a knife. It is normally something they add on to something else you did. Like you get stopped on the street or get pulled over for something minor, you are being polite and complying and they see you have a knife you shouldn't. Normally they won't charge you with a felony. They will probably just tell you shouldn't have it and take it from you. Now if you were commiting an actual crime, threatening someone or being an a hole to them then they are going to use that against you.

I edc a paragon Phoenix for almost 3 years. Incredible knife. Still my most favorite knife. And mine is beat up.

The problem for me is that I don’t use a pocket clip. I would need to put some kind of tactile indicator on the handle.
