    Thank you so much for doing what everybody else was scared of actually doing. Very educational and now everyone is more confident doing this.

      yeah I was literally afraid of disassembling mine after I got it because I didn't want to do something I could not reverse, but this video showed me the inside of this knife isn't really magic

    I used to think it had such a mechanism that if you took it apart you wouldn’t be able to put it back together but it’s so so so much simpler

    • @TripleEEDC

      Yeah. It’s actually really easy to take apart. I was pleasantly surprised.

    That is conceptually very easy and actually looks to not be a pain in the ass. I just got done cleaning an axis lock and that was also conceptually pretty easy but it was such a hassle putting it together. The pivot was also pretty stubborn until you relewse tension from the cross bar

    Oh man I've always wanted one of these.. can't afford one, but the action is just so iconic and awesome. The Phoenix (single edged version) also looks awesome, though with the way it's designed I don't think you could reverse the action.

      If you are left-handed you could contact Asheville Steel. I spoke with them on the phone before and they were awesome to deal with. Small Mom and Pop operation.

    Thx so much for the vid bro. Got the full titanium version, any way to fix the play in the handle at all? thx

    • @TripleEEDC
      @TripleEEDC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t had the knife for a while so I would have to see what is causing the play but they are two separate plates being held together at one point (as opposed to multiple points), so I am not sure it can be improved. I would hope as they make more of these that the tolerances get tighter in successive iterations, but that probably isn’t much help to you.

  • @DZNTZ

    Thanks so much for posting. So, I’ve had mine apart and everything looks sound, all is well in there - BUT the handle scales have a good bit of lateral wiggle if you know what I mean, it’s easy to kinda slide them out of alignment at the bottom end (where there isn’t any sort of connection between the two scales). Is this normal? Just a result of the pivot being the only connection? Or do I have a defect? Thanks for your help!

    • @TripleEEDC
      @TripleEEDC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am pretty sure that is normal since there is only one point on the knife that is screwed together and that is on the opposite end of the knife. It’s just the nature of the design.

    • @DZNTZ
      @DZNTZ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TripleEEDC Thanks for replying! It turns out this particular knife has some damage to the kinda U shaped pieces (that hold the pins) where they butt - it looks like someone pulled a “how the HELL do you open this f&#$@ng thing! rrrrrr” and maybe tried to pull the two sides? Only thing I can imagine. Put a nasty divot in the aluminum. I’m sure there is a little slop there regardless because of the design, but this was worse for a reason. It would be nice to see a Teflon pin or something at the bottom to hold the scales in alignment, but still be able to slide in and out of its slot. That floating bottom end is weird, and a definite flaw imho. Ingenious design overall though, it’ll be interesting to see what it evolves into.

    I just bought one of these knives and I've noticed the action is stiff and it doesn't like to swing open easily at all. Would you have any advice on that?

    • @TripleEEDC
      @TripleEEDC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This one is well-oiled. Did you check to see if the knife is lubed up on the inside? That would be the first thing I would check.

    • @Antonio30000

    I thought you just move the pocket clip to the other side, to make it "left handed"? Or am I missing something?

    • @TripleEEDC
      @TripleEEDC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you only move the pocket clip the blade will come out toward your hand instead of away from it.
