Born in 56, my Mom always had the TV on, saw all these too, and what ever was on. Remembered a part of a movie, didn't know the name, saw it in"Has anybody seen my gal" was the scene in front of the library.
Watching this reminded me again that Ray Harryhausen is still the undisputed king of stop motion. His monsters are always recognizable for their quality
They always came on tv late Friday or Saturday night and you knew to get the popcorn made.

Cool homage to our beloved behemoths. When I was little and watched "Them!" on TV during a weekend, that sound that the giant ants made creeped me out so much. It still has a certain magic to it, that eerie noise. 🐜

I actually liked Cloverfield. I was afraid that it was going to be "Blairwitch Godzilla". But I saw it in the theater and the sound editing was incredible. It was a totally different feel than the DVD.
SCi-Fi movies that have the trait of making long segments with real abrasive noises, imagine Godzilla giving a speech, just aint getting any show time here.

Another fine FredFlix production. I miss these old 50's black & white masterpieces of horror. The small monsters never scared me it was the giant or nuclear created ones that frightened me as a kid.

Some great clips from classic movies. I can't recall how many times I have watched each of these movies, and still enjoy them. And, I am in my mid 60s, but still a kid at heart.

When I was young I had a little trouble with Them!. It wasn't the creepy giant ants, or their screeching. It was seeing Santa Claus messing with giant ants. I had seen and was happy with Edmund Gwenn as Santa Claus in Miracle on 34th Street. Then, along comes Them! and it has Santa fighting giant ants. I was young, and I think it was the first time I had to confront the concept that an actor might do more than one part in their lifetime.

“Tarantula” is by far the better film. It’s not aimed at the teenage drive-in crowd, nor does it suffer from the cheesy effects that were the hallmark of Bert I. Gordon movies.

Great job, Fred. I always admire your attention to detail, such as maintaining continuity by showing color footage in black & white. My favorite sequence was the combining of the Triffids with the Beast From 20,000 Fathoms.
Man, I love _all_ of these films! Just yesterday I was telling a 23 year old friend about the (not so) special effects in "The Beginning of the End." :)
During the train derailment montage I was hoping for a glimpse of the Giant Claw.

There is nothing wrong with CGI if used properly. What I fear is remakes of the classic sci-fi movies like “Them!”, “The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms,” “Forbidden Planet,” or “Tarantula.” Hollywood is so dumbed down these days that the films will be done with tongue firmly planted in cheek, as if the filmmakers were too good for their material.

WOW...this was a lot of fun to watch! I saw 'Destroy All Monsters' on a triple bill along with 'Ghidrah, The Three Headed Monster' and 'The Green Slime' at a drive-in in 1970. I was 5 years old and it had a profound impact on me. I've been a life long Godzilla fan ever since. Thanks much for posting!

Where I grew up, there was one movie theater that seemed to specialize in monster movies. It seemed as if there was always at least one and sometimes two on a double feature. Even better, of course, was seeing them at the drive-in, which also showed a lot of these terrors. God, I loved them.
As a kid I loved watching those movies on TV. I have several of them on DVD now.
Thank you for bringing back so many memories of me and my brother watching these monster movies under a blanket, scared to death! Lol, looking back and thinking "that's what we were afraid of??" But those days were indeed scary and so much fun! Thanks for the memories =D

Thank you for this compilation of life changing art, truly an intellectual overload. So much to absorb, so much to contemplate, my mind is a log jam of thoughts as I try to sort out the implications of the classic themes running through these clips. This had almost everything: Giant arachnids making electronic noises (and they were probably radioactive, too) it was only missing a tick; phenomenally stupid people being torn to shreds; some cheesy special effects (some almost decent ones, too, unfortunately), a hint of theremin music, a narrator berating the human race for its arrogance, and -- TA-DA! -- a question mark after "The End".
And you did a great job editing these. Thumbs Up.
No giant monsters were hurt during the filming of these movies.
Oh yes they were. Not only hurt, but even killed.

That was a great little treat. "Them" was my favorite Big Monster Flick.Godzilla was my favorite monster. All of Ray Harryhausen's movies were classic.

My parents grew up in Chattanooga so I figure your experience growing up was somewhat similar. I love the Charleston area. "Them", the 1950's movie about mutant ants; in that opening scene a little girl who is a mute survivor, is laying in an ambulance while the attendant and cop talk. Out of sight comes the chirping noise of a mutant, and while both men look away for the source the little girl sits bolt upright, a closeup of her face, silently telegraphing to the audience the horrors to come, and then she slowly reposes when the sound fades; the two men having entirely missed that telling moment.
Now that scene right there is movie-making as it used to be folks.
I have to agree ...THEM is one of my favorite movies. When the Dr. lets her smell the Formic Acid and she screams . She was a good little actress

Them had James Arness in it. The beginning of the end about grasshoppers had Peter Graves. They are brothers.

Another fabulous selection Snuggle-pie, Gorgo demolishing London bridge is fabulous, and Godzilla was my fave, I even had a Godzilla keyring with a cheap plastic replica of the monster with glowing eyes. Being so geographically close to Japan, we were saturated with their monster movies. The American monster movies were more for TV and played late night. My other favourite genre was The Samuari, and when Shinatro the Samuari came to Australia we were fortunate to go see him, it was a blast, we screamed our heads off with joy...hahahaha

There are a lot of documentaries on old monster movies that use the best bits.
About that woman who caught her dress in the car door: Apparently, she thought it over and decided she'd rather die than lose her dignity.
Even as a kid I wondered why she didn't just open the car door...
@@zoppie One thing common to all great art films of this sub genre are galactically stupid people getting eaten alive by the monster. All she had to do was open the door, that takes a lot less time and effort than tearing off the dress. Even stupider than that was the cop who emptied his K-38 Combat Masterpiece .38 Special (substantially less powerful than a 9mm) -- all six rounds -- into a 70 million ton reptile with skin tougher than the hull of a U.S. battleship. Then he stands there for 14 geologic epochs while the monster bends over to pick him up with his teeth and swallow him alive. I always burst out with a cheer when I see stupid people getting killed.
"Get the hammer and nails." As if that's going to do any good. Splendid mash-up my boy! Keep 'em comin'...!

Another superb video, Fred! ..."Oh no, it wasn't the airplane, it was beauty that killed the beast!" 😂 You are the man, Fred! You're definitely my go-to guy for my regular dose of nostalgia! I was always partial to a classic low budget comedic/monster type flick called "The thing with two heads" starring Ray Milland & Rosie Greer.... Funny as hell, if anyone hasn't caught this flick, give it a view! It's a ridiculously cheesy film that any midnight movie theatre would be proud to show! 🤣 Not too many theatres showing those zany flicks anymore, such a shame! No better place in the world to take a first date in those days! 🤣 Lots of folks participating in strange ways, like the comments you'd find in the old Mystery Science Theatre or perhaps someone hurling cooked spaghetti across the audience when there's a creepy tension and the audience is on edge! LMAO! Good times, good times! Those certainly were the days! Doesn't anyone remember those films that had ridiculous special effects like "Smell-o- vision" and certain selected chairs in the theatre that were wired to trigger a mild shock? I feel bad that the younger generations never got to experience the weird atmosphere & the novelty special effects that they once had! Do you folks remember those things? Or is this a younger fan base of Fredflix that only experienced the antics of the Rocky Horror picture show audience? Inquiring minds want to know....
William Castle was the master of the gimmick film, as you probably know, David. I think the audience for this video will run the gamut...several generations love the old monsters.
FredFlix Hope your right, Fred. Those gimmicks were priceless & timeless, hopefully younger viewers will experience it! Castle was indeed the mastermind of those treasures... 😁 I only know of a handful of theatres across the country that show the movies with these special effects, only wish there were more! I imagine they faced a few lawsuits? Remember the gimmick where you had to sign a medical disclaimer and there were "nurses" walking around the audience checking people's pulses? PT Barnum himself would've be mighty proud of that gimmick! 😁

It scared me so much, that I spent most of the movie in the lobby, pretending to study the candy machine, and go in and out of the boys room, because I didn't want to admit that I was scared 💩less!,......😂🤣😂. I don't know why, but I've never been scared watching monster movies...only thrilled. I guess even at 7 years old, I knew there was no real danger. But, years later, I gotta say, The Excorcist scared the crap outta me and I couldn't sleep well for a week.

As a 90 kid I loved these movies and yes I was scared of those monsters when I saw them on my TV. My parents made sure that I grow up loving and respecting old movies.

I well remember discussing the men being squished by the giant tentacle on the street one Monday after "It Came From Beneath The Sea" was shown on TV on a Sunday afternoon.

My favorite line in the entire picture!!! Wondered if anyone else noticed that!!! And this guy was the first one to get killed in the old The Blob movie as well!!

Some times when mother wanted me to get up and go to school I would pull the blanket over my head and repeat that line. She never found out where it came from. But it did get some laughs.
