i've been a spurs supporter for 55 years. i support the team, period. i'll be 60 later this year. somehow, i doubt i'll live long enough to see them win a league title, but i hope to see it. i've watched what has happened with the team over the years. it is my opinion that as long as daniel levy is in charge at tottenham, all decisions will be corporate, about the bottom line only. championships are expensive to attain and maintain, whereas the appearance of contention for titles is a cheaper, and more profitable business plan. such a lower bar to hurdle. this affects the players negatively. the best ones know they're just a commodity to be sold once they appear to have peaked in sales value, the manager becomes a temp position, and the whole team knows it isn't demanded of them to win titles, just to qualify for europa, maybe champion's league play, make it to late stages in the fa and carabao, bring in the television revenues. just be the best of the rest ... modern spurs fans appear happy to be relegated to being the maga of the premier league: only their hatred of arsenal gives them any comfort. a trophy win this season, as postecoglou appears to know is all he has a shot at, won't do anything other than bring out the sore winners.
They expect players to train even in their off hours, which brings up a great question: why didnt THEY forgo their hobbies and time off to train, that way they wouldn't have peaked in high school.
