  • 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗱 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝗹 Tremolo Retrofit Kit for Stratocaster® style tremolo fitted guitars. Easy DIY drop-in for 6 point bridges with no mods*. (*Also fits 2 point bridge guitars with some minor drilling) 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻-𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀! Read more about it.▼
    Tony from Floyd Rose explains the function of the new Rail Tail Tremolo System and provides retrofitting instructions for standard 6-point and 2-point bridges. www.floydrose.com
    𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗟 𝗧𝗔𝗜𝗟:
    The Rail Tail Tremolo is a full-contact, dive-only tremolo designed to retrofit your existing Strat® -style 6-point tremolo with no modifications to your guitar; a clever design merging the feel and reliability of a hardtail bridge with the flexibility of a tremolo system. Computer designed and precision-machined, the Rail Tail achieves maximum performance and stunning appearance without compromising comfort or feel. Its unique features allow for adjustability to fit a variety of guitar bodies and for an easy DIY installation.
    Unlike the original tremolo design that rocks on a bevel located under the screw heads, the Rail Tail tremolo plate rotates around a precision rail that is mounted directly to the guitar body. The plate cradles the entire rail with precision as if they were one unit improving sound quality and tuning stability.
    This union also creates a greater breakpoint allowing open strings to maintain pitch when bending another, much like a hardtail. The tremolo plate consists of slotted string block mounting holes not only for accommodating installation but also allowing the string block to be positioned forward for greater rotational range. This means diving up to 15 degrees more than conventional tremolo bridges.
    An advanced string block also consists of game-changing features: Mid-positioned tapered string holes assist in true string saddle contact. Working in alliance with the rail and string block are the roller fitted string saddles. This entire assembly provides ultimate vibrational energy transfer from the strings to the guitar body resulting in better overall sustain and tonal qualities.
    E to E string spacing available in Narrow spacing 2 1/16" (52mm) and Wide spacing 2 7/32" (56mm)
    ►𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲: The Rail mounting holes are universal meaning that a narrow spaced Rail Tail will fit onto a wide-spaced guitar body and vice versa◄ (For optimum performance, playing experience, and reliability, it’s highly recommended that the guitar this unit is being installed on, is equipped with locking tuners and a quality nut.)

    This seems like a great solution to the 6 point tremolo tuning issues, but I would like to make a suggestion to the people making the videos...Show us the products in use after the install video section. You are Floyd Rose, surely you have a famous, competent guitarist that will show us the products being used..Thanks...
    I met Floyd sometime around 1988/1989 and he is the reason I can actually work on floating 2 point tremolo systems and make them work. Thanks for changing tremolos for the industry.

      @@dalmaraz61 You just have to be very careful. Unlike a strat, the CE 24 doesn't have a pickguard to use as a reference. You have to eyeball it, and pay attention to the 2 E strings, on either side of the fingerboard at the last fret, and make sure they're equally spaced, in reference to the sides of the fingerboard. Also watch how the 2 E strings line up over their polepieces of the bridge pickup. With that in mind, I really had no trouble at all. Make sure to use the "Narrow Spaced" Floyd Rose Rail Tail.

    Do not ingore the "dive only part" you floaters will not work around this device, Just got this for anyone interested, The sustain is crazy compared to the strat 6/2 point even the Vega trem sounds brittle vs the rail cause the rails bridge and block is beefy and heavy but yet compact which sounds amazing, It comes back to tune very well from a dive with tightened springs but "buyer beware" do not buy this with a innovative mindset that you could possibly make this float like you would your 6/2points cause it will be a whole step off " not exaggerating" I could dive in E standard and be in D tuning with one dive on a float cause that rail system wont allow it regardless of lube or perfect nut slots or stretched strings.. They are not kidding with the float part

    I think the "Super-Vee" tremolo is so much better. You can dive bomb and pull back. Plus you don't have to disassemble anything, just remove the old trem, and screw the Super-Vee in all the way as if you're making your trem a hard tail (you won't). Replace springs, strings and dive bomb or pull back to your heart's content. Locking tuners are recommended.

    There is two big improvement that could be made easy to this system - floating and height. Somebody could make a height spacer under the Rail. This spacer could be screw down by the outside screws. This would do two things, keep your saddles from rattling from being adjusted to height, and lastly it would allow you Float.
    I hope to see this in the future or hear what Floyd Rose thinks.

    GEAR ADVICE! PLEASE?
    In theory though; You COULD set this up to push down and pull back on it right? But you’d have to modify the body wouldn’t you?
    Because I think if I can router the body a bit to recess the area like on the Ibanez JEM, the pull back would be possible.
    What do you think? Possible?
    If so I’ll do it, I’m working with a body that’s not even a big deal. I scored a used guitar for $90 from someone who gave up playing and the guitar WAS worth $300 something when it was new, but he modded it and didn’t know what he was doing.
    So this guitar is a donor body, I got it for modding, and I’m not limited to what I’m willing to do with it to push its limits. I don’t care about the wood or the serial number or none of that, I care about performance and tone.
    This is meant to be a monster machine that I can take the parts out of and build again with another guitar.
    Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated because I’m fitting a custom Stone Tone block fitted specifically FOR this tremelo system which will be attached to the Tone Claw which is a great product!

      From my experience this is a dive only (semi hard tail) Tremolo with an aligned pivot action so home position is resting on the top of the guitar, it is not floating, which is good for tuning stability. Generally the guitar is used for occasional Tremolo dives, so staying in tune is set as a higher priority than the use of the Tremolo.
      The number of springs used and the claw extend position is a force balance preference, but always done with the tail resting on the guitar . I think most players bending strings with this setup will tend to have a fair amount of force to move the Tremolo.
      So you may ask why buy it?
      There are several advantages over the factor Tremolo. For example: The string break points are smooth without binding which helps with dives and intonation. The pivot action means the tremolo is always square to the guitar body. The strings are actually located on the tremolo so they cannot move, like the stock tremolo just using a bended surface, this constantly locates the strings during dives and sets a equal and consistent string to string spacing. If the player does not want to use the tremolo for a specific performance or recording you can just add more springs and remove the bar, which turns it into a hard tail-stop.

      Unlike a beveled edge or 2 point knife-edge design, the large surface contact area between the Rail and Tremolo plate prevents it from achieving that crucial balance point when floating. While there is a major gain in tonal qualities and sustain, the downside, unfortunately, is the added friction that doesn't allow it to be set up to float and maintain pitch accurately.

    I installed one of these in my Baretta Special. The bridge is slamming against the rail when coming back from dive bombing. I see the it is dislocating from the rail in the nipple portion and then falling back into place again. I don’t know if it needs more lube, or more or less tension on the springs. I guess I’ll keep trying...

      Sorry to hear you are experiencing some issues. It sounds like the sustain block is hitting the cavity wall. This can cause the tremolo plate to lift off the rail while seated. Check to make sure you have adequate clearance in that area and other areas of the string block. You will have to remove the saddles and slide the sustain block back slightly. The spacer card in the kit can help you achieve the 1/32"(1mm) clearance that's recommended.

      The narrow spacing should do it. To be 100% sure it's always best to measure the distance between the 1st and 6th string. (E to e) Narrow = 2 1/16" - Wide = 2 7/32"

    • @officialfloydrose5849
      @officialfloydrose5849  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a few variables that may cause this when it comes to non-locking tremolos such as nut clearance, string gauge, and brand, saddle friction, playing style etc. Here are a few suggestions: 1.) Double check the nut to make sure it's not pinching the string. You can use a sharpie to mark it at the nut, dive the bar and see if the string comes back to the same position. If it doesn't, you will have to open up the slot to allow the string to glide back and forth freely. 2.) Stretch the strings out by pulling them up lightly or using the 2 hand method. The windings around the ball end will always have a little room to settle when they are fresh. This could vary between brands and string gauge 3.) Dive the bar then tune. If strings go out of tune slightly during massive bends, a slight dip on the bar will put it back in pitch just like any other non-locking tremolo system. Hope this helps.

      It’s mostly the pickguard and sometimes I heard the neck heel can be a little wider on squires, everything else is pretty much the same. If you want to install this into any 6 point style Strat make sure you know if you need narrow or wide spacing, you can just google it. All squires made after the 90’s I believe require the narrow one, so to answer the question, yes it will fit a squire perfectly so as long as you install it correctly.

    • @officialfloydrose5849
      @officialfloydrose5849  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unlike a beveled edge or 2 point knife-edge design, the large surface contact area between the Rail and Tremolo plate prevents it from achieving that crucial balance point when floating. While there is a major gain in tonal qualities and sustain, the downside, unfortunately, is the added friction that doesn't allow it to be set up to float.

    • @officialfloydrose5849
      @officialfloydrose5849  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Measure the distance between the 1st E string and the 6th E string. The Narrow spacing is 2 1/16" or 52mm and Wide spacing is 2 7/32" or 56mm. If your tremolo spacing is somewhere in between, either one will work fine. It depends on your preference.

    I'm disappointed that the design of this tremolo was changed to use roller saddles. I have one of the first generation Rail Tails that had normal saddles and it is one of the best sounding trems that can be installed on "six screw" trems without any modifications. Changing to roller saddles effects the tone. Tone is subjective so It's up to each player to say if that change is good or bad, but there is most definitely a change. I suggest to at least make the original saddles available as an option.

    • @officialfloydrose5849
      @officialfloydrose5849  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks again for testing one of the earlier models. We appreciate and value all the feed back given. We've incorporated stainless steel rollers into the solid brass saddles to improve tuning stability, minimize string fatigue and increase smoothness during normal play and dive bombing. With the massive Rail contact area and the 13mm thick solid brass String Block, we can assure you that the tone and sound has not been compromised in any way.

I am going to give the second generation units a detailed review very soon, and will, as always, give my "unadulterated" opinion. There is already a long list of unique features that have been incorporated into this unit, making this one of the very few units that I would ever consider installing in one of my early Strats. I love the sound and feel of Strats but I'm usually playing my Charvels or Ibanez guitars because they have locking nuts and stay in tune forever. That being said I have retrofitted Strats with locking nuts and it really makes all the difference, I bet if you did that in conjunction with this Trem it would play and sound great.
