Simon, thank you for the palate cleanser. Hearing the stories of Goring and Harrison reminds me that there are good people in the world, rare as they sometimes seem. It grieves me that Goring was so reviled after having done so much good, but he remained good to the end, marrying his housekeeper so she could collect his pension. Legends both.

Having said all this she had a difficult time and I suspect the church had to find a victim and they needed her too be set up as an example.

Having recently listened to Simon's Casual Criminalist episode about Pedro Lopez, I honestly and genuinely feel bad for Simon having to rehash the story. That episode really seemed to have traumatized our dear Simon, it really took a toll on him telling that horrible monster's story, I've never seen/heard Simon that outraged. Simon and all, I can see your uncomfortable nature as well as distaste in making this video, and while there is a sad chance that this could be demonetized I want to say thank you for your professionalism in filming, editing and posting this. Amazing work from an amazing creating staff.
Four vulnerable women with brown hair and blue eyes have disappeared in my area, one was found hanged and the other three are still just missing. The woman that was found dead had been missing for 10 days when found had allegedly called a family member the same day police announced they would do a search for her, so the search was cancelled, but she was dead for 10 days when they found her. We reporters are convinced there is a serial killer around, but police do not think so. We are waiting for woman number five.
The cops don't need to know/believe you. If you're a reporter your word is gonna be trusted in your area. Make sure to make your assumption known, and have others do the same if they're willing, to give validation. Police don't catch killers until they've already done a lot. It's basically a waiting game. The important thing is getting the public to see why you believe it and getting the women to take you seriously and protect themselves.

We also managed to get a couple dozen patty pan squashes this year, some of them one or two pounds each. But its not just the pounds of vegetables or servings of food I count success by at the community garden. Every year i try to put on a demonstration display, usually another attempt at growing the "three sisters." Never fully turns out right. This year I added Takane Ruby buckwheat to them as a display. And when over the years we got a number of elderly people asking if we had rhubarb, I dipped into my own pockets and bought a bare root rhubarb plant, which exploded in growth this year (its second.) A cherry tomato cultivar called "Juliet" has also repeatedly produced pounds of tomatoes and sprawled as much as eight feet across the ground. And we routinely get large harvests of flat leaved parsley, which reseeds in the same garden bed reliably. I've added tea and cooking herbs to a long narrow bed on the margins, which produces anise hyssop for tea and oregano for cooking. The chives were already there, and I had to manually curb their spread before they take over the entire herb bed. Basil has never done well in those beds, and so it gets a spot at the edges of the other beds. However, it cannot beat the greens I mentioned at the start. Why? Because as the band Rise Against would put it, I believe "we were all born with the moral obligation to leave this world a better place than the world that we found." It gives me accomplishment, peace, some food, and hopefully helps neighborhood morale. We've lost too many people to alcohol and opiates, and there's still too much violence and drama that tends to show up unannounced connected to those two things.
As a casual criminalist viewer since the very first episode and having heard Simon's many tangents about how he still thinks about pedro Lopez I spent much of the video knowing at some point he was coming up
I’m pretty sure it was one of simons videos that made me finally sign up to be a organ donor, so I hope he knows he’s left the world a little bit better
I don't believe in organ donation personally but this video made me consider donating plasma, I'm not sure I can though. I don't remember exactly but I know there's a reason I can't donate blood. I'll have to look into it again.
Poor Simon I listen to his true crime podcast and it’s pretty obvious that Pedro Lopez lives rent free in his head. Now he has to talk about him again.
The way Sylvia Likens was beaten, tortured, humiliated, starved and eventually murdered is the one thst sits with me. The fact these things were done to her by an adult female leading a misfit group of teens sickens me.
Talking about the RH negative blood type in the cleanser! My mom is actually a RH negative blood type! She has anemia, which runs in her family,so they have told her she is unable to give blood. But! I am actually the last of her children because of her blood type. I was born a whole month earlier than I was supposed to. She had told the doctor that something was wrong and he ignored her sending her home to have her water break in the car. But because of my older siblings and myself being positive blood type from our biological dads (I was a happy accident from my mom trying to find a new partner after her divorce) my mother was told that she could have the possibility of dying if she had another child. So my mom waited a year after me to make sure she wanted to have her tubes tied. So it’s actually awesome hearing about how someone was so super amazing to be able to donate that much blood and save so many lives! Thank you so much Simon (and of course the writer(s))!

Great video simon - as always! One name i was missing on the list though is Niels Högel. While convicted for "only" 85 murders, the number is probably somewhere between 300 and 400 if you compare the death rate during his shifts with times he was off work.

A little off topic for the video, but I'm not sure how often this happens with these channels or if was intentional, I have to say it's quite notable and significant that you used a quote from a HBCU professor. Regarding Albert Goering, it's surprising that none of the many people he'd helped during the war didn't repay the favor when Albert had fallen on hard times. Perhaps he didn't feel right asking for such help. Or perhaps he lost track of all those people. Either way, it's incredibly sad that his life had a sad end, giveb how much good he did during the war.
I owe my own life and that of my children to Harrison. I was a non-reponder to the Anti D treatment and lost a dozen pregnancies before 24wks and two newborns because of Rh disease. I also had transfusions every day of my last two pregnancies which resulted in two awesome people that I'm privileged to know. Thanks so much. Xx
My dad's blood type is the universal donor so he spent almost 40 years donating blood. The place he went to would mark it on their calendar the exact date he would be allowed to donate next and would promptly call him. He donated so much that they gave him gifts like free tickets to things. He only stopped when he developed some health conditions that made him ineligible. He's donated at a minimum 100 liters, but probably more than that.
Good on him. I am nowhere close because I got rejected half of the time I tried during my years of having periods which can mess up the hemoglobin but they still called me because I am O+ (not universal but still the most common type so they like my blood). I have never been rejected since menopause. I received blood at one point but I am still far in the positive where I have donated more than I received
My partner is too, lysin-free O- but he's unfortunately been taking medication and can't donate as much they wish. It's a fantastic thing to do if you can.
The first 9 minutes-where you explained the differences between mass murderers, government-sanctioned killers, alleged killers, and serial killers-was very informative! In the normal course of my activities, I rarely get the opportunity to explore such nuances in depth. You were also preempting viewer comments like "You forgot to mention Hitler / Stalin / Pol Pot ..." - am I right? 😜
Mr. Harrison is responsible for helping to saving 4lives i personally know, my 2sons and the twins my ex & I were Surrogates for. I wish could personally thank you sir. You are a total legend 👑
I amazes me how many people didn't simply do a name change, especially back before the digital era. Albert, you legend, you should've changed your name!!!
Thank you, as a father, for handling the kid stuff as…quickly and with as little detail as possible. I cannot believe what some people are capable of. Boggles the mind
James Harrison is why all 3 of my children are here. I'm thankful for the Rhogam shot. I'm Rh negative and my husband and all my children are Rh positive
In my opinion, it's Richard Ramirez. He was able to go for an entire year and the detectives on the case said, "His consistency is his inconsistency". I get the argument for Pedro Lopez, but Ramirez was more grotesque and gruesome
This must be the Whistlerverse version of the rogues gallery of sickos. Reluctantly I smashed the like button and the comment is a sacrifice to the Algorithm. Cheers.
What about Japanese officers Toshiaki Mukai and Tsuyoshi Noda who took part in a competition to see which of the two could behead 100 people first, Mukai killed 106, Noda 105 - Noda went on to tell people that he hadn't killed more than 4 or 5 in combat - and said the 'competition' was after Nanking. Gunkichi Tanaka who killed over 300 with his sword at Nanking - it is worth noting that there was no fighting in Nanking and the Chinese forces had withdrawn prior to the Japanese arriving, so those killed were women, children and the elderly. The conduct of the Japanese soldiers was so atrocious that the German Consul in the city (and an ardent Nazi) was compelled to write to Berlin to complain at the brutality. The chances are that the three of these repeated these acts later (Nanking occured in 1937) so they qualify as serial killers.
I have a few problems with the official definition. a) it doesn't cover people who lured victims to a set location to murder them (didn't Dahmer do most of his killing in his own home?) b) it does not make a specific category for multiple killers who acted purely out of greed (burke and Hare come to mind, or the keepers of the Red Inn if they were really guilty) from those who killed to satisfy a more personal urge...
I recognize at least three of these monsters from The Casual Criminalist... those who aren't yet covered there should be soon (with my apologies to Simon's psyche).
Thank you for that ending. It’s always nice to be able to put into perspective that while there are terrible people in existence and that must be acknowledged, the oposite is also true and some people do good for goodness sake. 😊
Love how Simon delivers the line; ‘He promised a man food if he came with him, instead he brutally raped him.’ It’s just delivered in a very matter of fact way devoid of emotion, the exact opposite of what I’d imagine was the reaction of the poor man that was subject to the old switcheroo

It's Gustave the Nile crocodile, his body count is an estimated 300.
Casual Geographic recently did a video on animal serial killers. Gustave wasn't the "winner." 😉
Xx
Poor Simon. Pedro López keeps showing up videos on the Whistleverse.
I would say the 16-year maximum sentence for murder has as much to do with why they're all from Columbia is anyting.
I love that end quote! How lovely.
Thanks for the legends at the end, I think we all needed that
I love when presenter Simon cracks and actual Simon comes in which is way cas crim is my favorite of all 10,000 of simon’s channels lol
Oh Hell! Pedro Lopez returns to haunt Simon's mind & video... It can be seen as this video pissed Simon off to no end.
Simon Whistler talking about serial killers? Dream video right here 😁
Great work as always, Simon. I'm one of the babies who benefited from Mr. Harrison's selflessness, and for that I will forever be grateful.
That “some people just can’t catch a break” was so dry I needed a drink after
Thank you, as a father, for handling the kid stuff as…quickly and with as little detail as possible. I cannot believe what some people are capable of. Boggles the mind
Loved the ending, especially the last sentence!
Simon: "Pedro Lopez again? No food for the basement writers this week."
Perfect way to end. Nailed it again
James Harrison is why all 3 of my children are here. I'm thankful for the Rhogam shot. I'm Rh negative and my husband and all my children are Rh positive
Just in the off chance that you’re unaware, if you like this video you will absolutly love one of simons many other channels, the casual criminalist
Simon. The man with an unknown number of YT channels
Thanks, Harrison. I needed this intervention for my second child.
In my opinion, it's Richard Ramirez. He was able to go for an entire year and the detectives on the case said, "His consistency is his inconsistency". I get the argument for Pedro Lopez, but Ramirez was more grotesque and gruesome
That was a bit more heinous than I expected and that’s saying something
I’ve had shots for RH incompatibly for both my pregnancies. Thank you for his story, the happy ending to the video :)
That was like the best crossover!
I did not know that I have this one legend of a man to thank for my happy healthy children.
Well, plus all the medical scientists who put in the work.
Interesting history, thank you for the perspective.
Ty 4 finishing positive. I was very shocked by the 1st half. Despite the lack of details, which we thankfully spared.
I don't know what pissed me off more, hearing what these killers did or hearing how the justice system fails the public.
Tony the Tiger roams the cereal isle to this very day. He is still looking for the man who killed Tony Jr.
Thank you for reading that quote, it is on my fridge and is close to my heart.
I recognize at least three of these monsters from The Casual Criminalist... those who aren't yet covered there should be soon (with my apologies to Simon's psyche).
Thank you for ending on a positive (couple) notes. If it weren't Halloween, I doubt I would have made it to the end of this one.
Poor Simon he just can't escape Pedro.
Thank you for that ending. It’s always nice to be able to put into perspective that while there are terrible people in existence and that must be acknowledged, the oposite is also true and some people do good for goodness sake. 😊
I would have loved those boxes as a kid.
Love how Simon delivers the line;
‘He promised a man food if he came with him, instead he brutally raped him.’
It’s just delivered in a very matter of fact way devoid of emotion, the exact opposite of what I’d imagine was the reaction of the poor man that was subject to the old switcheroo
