Absolutely brilliant DB, that is a surprise.
So good for your family to enjoy your time on your own land. Lil DB is gonna learn so much and have a lot of fun.
What helps is the family connection to the farm and the time you spent on the land in your youth.
The berm you are going to put your road through is not natural. It looks man made, steep on one side and lower grade on the other. If so, it should be excellent gravel for creating your own road. Best guess is that it was a pond created for the farm a long time ago.
But clearing the trees for a road is the first priority. Some culverts and a bridge.
Water has a natural sorting agent. The streams will have done all the work for you sorting the gravel.
That is a brilliant purchase dude. Its gonna take a long time to get it done.
So happy for you and the family, its a new time and space to enjoy.
That is a lot of work pushing through that berm. Dirt Boss will get a lot of good vids from that 30 acres.
At least you got a good eye for nature and creating a better habitat for wildlife. So unlike Camarata, and his nonsense.

Boss man, I had the privilege of helping my dad carve a homestead out of our farmland. The lessons learned were too numerous to count… and the memories are irreplaceable.

It kind of sucks your gravel bank is in the middle of the driveway but at least you have something to work with from the start. I imagine you will find another spot while working there.

Be sure to use mechanical and hydraulic “muscle” in place of your body. And addl implements are cheaper than medical bills. Buy or rent what you need. Enjoy!

Piece of the Rock, Man. Great investment for the family. They will love riding the atvs when you have the trail system in place.. I can see a camping area, fire pit. You and your pose roasting hot dogs and s’mores. Your kids will learn some great life lessons there, just like their father did. Great decision, Dirt Boss
I just got back from doing rake trim on my post frame house and happened to see this video. Very happy for you to have acquired this awesome land with family history. I usually park out 20 ft from the edge of trails and leave the rest of the forest as is. Everything under 8" in diameter comes down and bucked into 11 ft. lengths and stacked for posts or firewood along the trails.
This is a MAJOR life blessing. Praise God.
