  • Ahoy! Sometimes getting the right tool comes with directly comparing tools but we all can't afford to buy everything in the store and test them individually.

This brushed kit is frequently on sale for $139 at Home Depot. At that price, it’s a very good deal for DIYers working on light duty tasks around the house.

Of course the newer brushless versions are superior but there's a reason these drills are still around. The M18 2606-20 is still considered to this day contractor grade and still priced over 200 tool only. If people can snag em on sale with batteries especially when sales may include a free tool or extra battery there's nothing better than a good tool at a good price. thanks for sharing

@@TOOL_TECHNICAL absolutely. I used to have DeWalt tools, but I completely transitioned over to Ridgid and Milwaukee a few years ago. I have the 2607-20 hammer drill, which I suppose is the bigger brother to the 2606. I also have the 2656-20 impact driver. It’s a very nice entry level brushed kit and is comparable to the DeWalt kit you tested in this video. I also have several other Ridgid Brushless and Milwaukee Fuel hammer drills & impact drivers. I have too many tools, lol. Nice channel you have here and just subbed. Wish you a lot of success. Keep it up!

@@SouthFLTools I have the latest 2904-20 still in the box while my brushed M18 was gifted to me by my uncle covered in dirt with a beat up battery and is still my first go to when reaching for a drill. Out of curiosity, what made for the transition away from DeWalt? An issue with tools/performance?

@@TOOL_TECHNICAL I actually owned the DCD771 for several years and it was an upgrade to a 12-volt Ryobi drill I previously bought back in the Ni- Cad days. However, the clutch on the DCD771 eventually seized up and I could only move the clutch between settings 1-3, rendering the drill useless if I needed to drill any holes. I was just past the 3-year warranty period after the clutch seized on me. As a result, I wasn’t too pleased with the experience and I was debating whether to stay in the platform or move on to something else. I was in the market to purchase both a hammer drill and impact driver at the time. The DeWalt XR and M18 Fuel hammer drills performed very similarly, but I ended up going with Milwaukee because the M18 Fuel impact drivers outperformed the DeWalt XR impact drivers. They also didn’t have any quality control issues with overheating like the DCF887 did, so that’s what lead me into moving away from DeWalt. Later on, I started ramping up my Ridgid collection to take advantage of tools with the LSA. So if I need a new tool first, I start with Ridgid, then take a look at Milwaukee if it’s a tool that Ridgid doesn’t offer and is within my budget, then lastly I’ll look at Ryobi if it’s a tool neither Ridgid or Milwaukee have. I guess I’m Team TTI, lol. Doesn’t make me a DeWalt hater though, because not one tool brand is the best at everything. Dewalt makes excellent woodworking tools and random orbit sanders for example, that are at a much higher level than anything Milwaukee, Ridgid, or Ryobi has to offer. DeWalt also makes excellent impact wrenches.

@@TOOL_TECHNICAL I had a DCD771 and the clutch seized on me shortly after the 3-year warranty period expired. I could only move the clutch between torque settings 1-3, which render the drill useless if I wanted to drill any holes. So I decided to take a chance on Milwaukee (Ridgid later on to take advantage of the LSA) after that point and have been pleased ever since.

Of course newer models exist, many DIYers refuse to justify paying for a tool they'll use once or twice every few months. This isn't advertising just reviewing 👍🏻
