Excellent show!!Love the graphics and the overall presentation. With a Shawdow Stevens esque voice you delivered the people some Need to know Rolex knowledge.
Great vid - ones I know of would be Oystersteel (new name for Rolex 904L steel), Parachrom - as in the magentic resistive metal alloy used in hair springs, ghost bezel (faded aluminium inserts), Chromalight - Rolexs lume product etc
Great video! How about the term called "Frankenstein" rolex? This is a term used to describe a watch that has been repaired or altered with non genuine rolex parts. This can be more common some vintage pieces.
Super fun for sure. Gotta love Rolesor - I mean you just can't get any more macho then that - unless they can get Stallone to wear it - or a T rex. Lol. Nice job.
We have been thinking about getting the Hulk in our office a Rolex. That would be pretty macho: www.thewatchbox.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/sow_image.jpg
WatchBox Studios ---Omg. Lol × 2. A true classic- the boss himself - and I get the sense he's tough enough to face the green guy himself . - that is a Great company pic.!
good video but not true about the jubilee bracelet on the gmt master ii... they used this bracelet on other sports models...also not sure about that blueberry explanation..
One would think they'd cover terms like "oyster" and "perpetual" and even "superlative chronometer." You know, the terms that are printed on virtually every non-cellini Rolex dial.
Nige Reviews -- This is a technique used to capture the best possible sound given the location we were working with. The space was massive and had a lot of room for sound to travel. We wanted to keep it as contained as possible using both a lav and a boom to ensure we had multiple sources to pull audio from for maximum quality.
I don’t think Rolex uses, or has ever used these silly little nicknames for their watches. It cheapens the brand if anything.....to an almost Junior High girl’s clique. I never hear nicknames for Patek Philippe, or Vacheron Constantin references.
They all look so identical , forget about luxury , where’s the exclusivity? Everyone seems to wear one, fake or real it doesn’t matter, they like roaches, help!!!
Engine turned bezel, pie pan dial, open 6 and 9, butterfly rotor, kissing 40, meters first and many more. Great video. Keep it up, WatchBox!
Excellent episode. Very informative. One of the best in the series.
Thanks David - We think you'll love the rest of season 2 as well. Stay tuned!
What about TWINLOCK, TRIPLOCK, PARAFLEX, PARACHROM, OYSTERFLEX, GLIDELOCK, and more! thank you so much for this great videos guys!!!
So many to name! We did our best, we're glad you enjoy it!
Thanks for watching!

A nice Rolex 101!
Thanks for watching Mike!

The rolex Explorer 2 polar dial Is always one of my favorites for a regular model.
Any idea what UZ5 means? Its stamped on my Rolex clasp somewhat beside the RolexSA
I did. Not read the previous posts, but I didn’t see mentioned the 1601 date just “wide boy “. Thanks
Great vid - ones I know of would be Oystersteel (new name for Rolex 904L steel), Parachrom - as in the magentic resistive metal alloy used in hair springs, ghost bezel (faded aluminium inserts), Chromalight - Rolexs lume product etc
Nice additions UXXV!
Thought of a few more Rolex specific terminology : Cosmograph - engine turned bezel - Steve McQueen explorer - wait list - bluesy - oyster flex
Waitlist - 😂. Thanks for adding these!
-Team WatchBox
Great input on the terms that Rolex collectors used. Thanks appricated
Thanks Alvin - we are just trying to get everyone up to speed on the lingo! Thanks, as always, for your support of our videos.

What do they call the decision to create the most scratch inducing polished center links of the GMT Master II? Anti-scratch resistant?
Good tutorial Jon. Rolex definitely has set itself apart from the rest. Best marketing out there. Thanx. 👍
Jon is awesome! As you said, Rolex has definitely set itself apart from the rest!
Glad you enjoyed our video Bubba!

I thought this was going to be a boring episode but happily proven wrong. Great story and graphics.
Thanks for giving it a shot!

Top notch content, as expected.
Thanks Arturo!
Great episode! Always wondered where the soda and superhero names came from. I like the Kermit (The frog) over the Hulk
Thanks Jermaine. Glad we could provide some knowledge!
Cool video! A few were missing though. Those words on the dial. Oyster case, perpetual movement, superlative chronometer, etc
I was hoping for the same thing. Great content, nonetheless.
Good additions!
Ghost bezel, big crown and bubblebacks possibly could've been mentioned.
Very interesting topic.
Great video! How about the term called "Frankenstein" rolex? This is a term used to describe a watch that has been repaired or altered with non genuine rolex parts. This can be more common some vintage pieces.
Stay tuned for coverage of Frankenstein watches in a future episode. Thanks for watching!

Excellent video
Another great vid! But I always thought the "spider dial" referred to the look resembling a spider's web.
Yeah. Spider web.
Thank you for the valuable information
you're welcome! Let us know what other topic you'd like to see us cover!
Interesting. Good job!
incredible video !!
"904 L" Stainless Steel. That term made an impact on me and Rolex newbies should be aware of what it means... Cheers!
Well done.
Thanks todd!
Ghost bezel, nipple dial, gilt dial, panda, reverse panda, oyster steel, trip lock crown, chromalight, red sub, milsub, double swiss
Maxi dial and case seems important for people To be aware of
Good ones Neo!
Wrong, Rolex didn’t use jubilee on Pepsi for the first time this year. Jubilee came with the previous gmt as well.
Super fun for sure. Gotta love Rolesor - I mean you just can't get any more macho then that - unless they can get Stallone to wear it - or a T rex. Lol. Nice job.

"Rare Bird" - the 1630, which is an automatic, two-tone DateJust, trapped in an Oysterquartz case!
"Bluesy" Rolex GMT two tone gold with blue bezel.
Super case, superlative chronometer, oyster perpetual, oysterflex...etc the list does go on!
It goes on and on!
Thanks for watching!

Bluesy, Inverted 6 Daytona, Red line Sub. Swiss, T
Let's not forget about the "nipple dial" and the "guilt dial". Great post 👍
good video but not true about the jubilee bracelet on the gmt master ii... they used this bracelet on other sports models...also not sure about that blueberry explanation..

Long E
Double Red
Meters First
Open 6
Shorty, the rolex explorer, 39mm with the hands from the previous 36mm explorer
Ghost bezel

What about “unobtainium” which is what all Rolex watches are really made from. 😇
Ha! That's a great one! 😜

Z blue.
How about AFTER MARKET DIAL, AFTER MARKET DIAMONDS/JEWELS ..
Root beer
Bluesy is a model nickname that I just don't get
Some of the nicknames are more eccentric than others.
Thanks for watching! 🔵

I thought this was going to explain other key terms like “oyster” and “perpetual”, etc. Guess not

Panda Dial
Why is he wearing a lab mic when he is sitting under a boom mic?
Nige Reviews -- This is a technique used to capture the best possible sound given the location we were working with. The space was massive and had a lot of room for sound to travel. Bluesy.
Bakelite, kermit
Nice video but why sitting so awkwardly on such comfy armchair?Looks like you’re in the loo.
I don’t think Rolex uses, or has ever used these silly little nicknames for their watches.

Bart Simpson?
You missed the most important term in watch collecting! SHITTER--->anything not a rolecks, coined by the great AC3!!!
the name has too many letters, too lazy to type
Kermit
rolex is overhyped imo. it is just too bad that the brand has so much market because of brand marketing and not due to great watches and innovations
They all look so identical , forget about luxury , where’s the exclusivity? Everyone seems to wear one, fake or real it doesn’t matter, they like roaches, help!!!
Gay stuff about modern Rolex. I thought this would be serious.
Thanks camaro Carl, what kind of content would have been serious enough for you? Maybe we can cover it in a future episode.
