After seeing this, which camera would you go for? The Ricoh GR IIIx or the X100VI? For a side-by-side comparison, check out the companion blog post - reggiebphotography.com/blog/fujifilm-x100vi-vs-ricoh-gr-iiix-side-by-side-jpeg-comparison
HI Reggie. This was confusing. I thought we were going to see a side by side of each composition to guess which was which. Its really not possible to guess which camera took each shot. At the end of the day, a good image can be judged a) on its technical merits, and b) on its emotional/evocative/artistic etc merits. In this sense, an Iphone can take great shots, even a pin-hole camera. Both Fuji and Ricoh cameras can create great images
i hear you and appreciate the feedback. you're conclusion was kinda my point - here's a blog post that you can see them side by side in higher res at your leisure reggiebphotography.com/blog/fujifilm-x100vi-vs-ricoh-gr-iiix-side-by-side-jpeg-comparison
@@Reggiebphoto Thanks Reggie. Took a look at the side by side. There really isn't much difference between the two - both excellent. I have a GR III and X100V and find the same overall lack of difference in image quality. The Fuji has it hands down for pleasure in holding and using. The GR has it hands down for portability, convenience and is also the lens is very sharp.
@@Reggiebphoto Thought you were going to show photos taken on one cam (e.g. cam "A"), then show some photos from cam "B" and reveal which was which at the end. Kinda confusing showing them all at once.
Have both, love both. Thanks, Reggie.
Ricoh GR3X owner, I got 6 wrong out of the 24. I have never owned or shot a Fuji camera before. I was pretty impressed getting so many correct. This was a pretty cool challenge, thanks Reggie!
Nice!
great video Reggie!
From an IG story to a full video, well done Reggie, and thanks for your work.
To a blog post on my website too. Always presenting my content in many forms
Great video! 👏🏻
If we want to talk pure IQ, the GRIII wins, hands down. At base ISO it is the highest IQ of any APS-C camera I have used (and I use Fuji extensively). However... there is a issue currently with LR and it's Enhance/Denoise functionality with GRIII and Pentax K3III files, so for higher ISO work I can get much better end results with the Fuji cameras because they can be denoised successfully (in-house without using 3rd party tools).
Base ISO = GR
Higher ISO = Fuji (if editing and using LR tools)
Hi Reggie , another good video. Thanks. I have a question for you. I have X-T5 and 23mm f/1.4 R LM WR plus 56mm f/1.2 R WR . I am looking for a compact travel lens to avoid bulky bags. 18mm f/2 OR 27mm f/2.8 will fit better for my needs ? Only point that makes my mind confuse is aperture of 2.8 on the 27mm compared to f/2 aperture incase need more light for a situation. What do you think ?
Thanks for the test! I love blind tests like this, forces you to ignore your preconceptions about things, I wish there were more tests like this out there. I got 20/24 correct without even having to inspect the images closely, which I'm not exactly happy about since I have the X100VI and would like it to be better than it is :) But unfortunately the GRIIIx is much sharper and tends to produce better images. Which is a shame since the X100VI is much more fun to use, feels better in the hand, and of course looks great. A really difficult decision to keep it or not, it's a battle between image quality and the fun of using it.
The Ricoh is so much sharper
Both equally great cameras. Literally either of them will do for me. I know one has a higher resolving lens, the other a higher resolving sensor, so it's really down to personal use case. You're going to get equally great photos either way. ✨
100% 🎯
good stuff Reggie! I wish Ricoh would stop playing around and give the GRIII a meaninful update
I hear you. It’s already pretty damn good as is. The fact it holds up says more about fujis update vs ricohs lack of update.
I got 14/24 right, which basically means I had no idea. I got almost all of the night time shots right, but struggled with the regular daytime shots. I only have a GRIII and not a ton of experience with it, and I'm still very new to photography in general, so I'm not surprised!
Thanks for playing along!
I got 11 right answer for this test, it’s quite hard to identify which shot will be. But I like the idea to bring to us both of them are the potable right choose so far and just think what you want to exercise with them.
Reggie, I like the images alot. I think if we had same image side by side, I would have tried to guess. Nice images, thanks for sharing.
thanks, perhaps i'll do that the next time.
The Ricoh will get dust on the sensor so factor in a couple of hundred dollars every year to send it in for cleaning. Some type of weather sealing is the most needed update for the Ricoh.
I liked all the ricoh gr shots even before the answers
What is the make of the purple strap on your Ricoh? Thanks
We would also like to know. Thank you, Reggie.

@@Reggiebphoto THANK YOU!
I have been a Fujifilm user since 2016. I’m really disappointed with the lack of stock of the x100vi especially here in China. I joined the waiting list in March and now I have just given up. I couldn’t get hold of a V now I can’t get hold of a Vi….
I'm sorry to hear
In my opinion images from Fuji is a little bit warm and the red/yellow color more vibrant.
How many did you get right?
@@Reggiebphoto ~70%
Which one tripped you up?
@@Reggiebphoto BW + Night is tricky to guess.
thanks
Thanks! But why the filters 🤷🏽♂️😅
I explain in my film sim recipe videos
are you going to collab with mod musing?
Naw, just visited his studio.
I got 13 right- might as well have guessed randomly!
I love the X100VI however the Ricoh GR3X has a much shaper lens, it resolve its sensor much better compared to the X100VI. There are plenty of comparison all over reddit and the GR3 always is such a sharper image. And if you look for text on any image it just clear. Although Fuji has stated it resolves the 40MP on the 6, the very fact that the Ricoh is still shaper just shows the lens needs and update and hopefully on the 7 they update it. Either way both cameras are great! the X100VI looks better and has more features and the Ricoh is truly a stealthy camera that outclasses tons of camera.
It’s a shame because they just updated it for the v. If sharpness is your goal the gr iiix is the clear winner.
X100T was a good balance between sensor and lens > X100F was too high resolution for the lens > X100V was a good balance between sensor and lens > X100VI is too high resolution for the lens.
Next time they'll nail it! 😂
Lol
15/24 😮
16/24
Pretty good!
4 mistakes in first 6 shots, 2 mistakes in the rest. Razor sharpness of the Ricoh, edge to edge, is so noticeable even in youtube video. And edge distortions of x100vi due to wider focal length.
Only 8 ;(

Great video Reggie! Got 24 out of 24. The GR3x has that sharpness/crispness advantage but the x100vi has that smoothness/pastel-like. But both excellent cameras. I love both my GR3 and x100f, and still waiting for the x100vi. Different handling but both wonderful in shooting photos, you really need to try both to understand them.
nice!
I got 36/24!!! #unbelievable
Amazing.
I Got 23 correct what a legend i am
Someone else got them all right
