I've owned the GR3x for a little more than a year. It's with me if I'm outside my home. Been shooting since 1976. It didn't take long to become one with it. It's a quick, get the shot, camera. It's absolutely the best, get the shot camera, I've ever owned. It's not for "showing off". If that's your thing... go elsewhere. It's for candid shots. Subjects don't take it serious, but you do.
For those who cannot decide to get which one of these (I mean, if you can and want. Both of them are backordered now and you need to pay extra for ready stock) The biggest advantage of the Ricoh GR is that it has a lens that contracts which will make the camera easily fit in you jeans pocket, while the Fuji won't but look classic and stylish. And as far as I can tell GR will produce sharper image than the 26MP X100V, one friend of mine got his X100IV and says even tough it's a 40MP sensor, the lens is not changed or updated and it cannot satisfy the high res sensor. But Fujifilm is like an Apple product since it works out of the box and it has much more filters (or film simulations, whatever) while the Ricoh GR literally only features 3 unique filters, namely Negative, Positive and Hi Contrast BW. Of course you can work out more filters base on the original ones, as Becca already showed you in the video. But that takes about 30 min to several hours to search for recipes on youtube or reddit and tweak the settings, depends on whether you are familiar with camera gears. I was a Fujifilm user and I switched to Ricoh and I'm more than happy with it, since I can just tuck it in my pocket and capture anything interesting I see in my day, sliently and blazing fast. Hope my experience and insights will help, cheers to Becca and those who read to the last line. :)
30 mins to several hours to search for recipes? what? its not. And really, that's just laziness if you dont want to set up your camera how you want it.
But also, I've been shooting with an x100f since 2018 and it's very easily the camera I've made the most images on, it is become an extension of me. BUT IT WOULD BE SO NICE TO HAVE A TINY CAMERA THAT FITS IN MY POCKET THAT I COULD TAKE TO CONCERTS
I have both and I'll most likely sell my Fuji X100VI, the only real world difference to me is the EVF, but nothing beats the naturality with which people react to the Ricoh
I'm a Fuji lover, have multiple including the XT5 and XE4 and weas thinking about the X1006 but given the price increase, and the fact it still cant fit into jeans/pants/shorts pockets, I decided to go the GRiiiX, Have zero regrets, the quality of the images are amazing and I can carry it everywhere, I use Reggies color negative on U1 and agree, side by side with an xt5/xe4 photo of the same frame....very hard to tell the difference, no regrets, Both amazing systems so I have the best of both worlds!
Is it? Just because it does not get the rabid crowds of tiktokers starting bidding wars .. I never seen anyone dismiss or undervalue the GRIII. Appreciate what you have. I wish the X100* were less over-hyped.
Own the GRIIIx, and the best feature: size. After getting it, I never use my smart phone camera anymore because not only does it take better photos, but it's actually easy and convenient to carry around. The X100's are great cameras, and the weather proofing is a great feature, but it's definitely not a "pocketable" camera as a lot of commenters mentioned. I definitely agree with everything Becca said, though I do wish the video capture was a bit better. I never planned to use the camera for video, but when other cameras like the Sony RX100 are smaller (it's more compact than the GR), have an articulate screen, a flash, viewfinder, and can shoot 4K video, it does seem lacking. But that being said, I don't worry about "breaking" a GR, whereas with the RX, because of all the mechanical doohickeys, I would be a bit more hesitant to just cram it in my bag or pocket, which is a pretty convenient tradeoff.
@@youssefmohammed5456 The biggest downfall of the GR series. Horrible dust on the sensor. Local camera repair shop won't touch them leaving mailing into Precision Camera Repair as the only option for most.
I recently picked up a X100VI to replace my GRIIIx. But after shooting with the Fuji, I can’t get myself to let go of the GRIIIx. The X100VI brings on an air of occasion every time you use it, while the GRIIIx is all about going undercover (like Becca mentioned) and getting surprised with that shot you never thought you’d get. Even if the end picture may be similar in quality, the shooting experience is not something that can be replicated with one another imo. Also one other thing to mention is that the GRIIIx is TACK SHARP. The 23mm F/2 lens in the Fuji produces softer images by quite a bit. I always find myself reducing clarity quite a bit when I’m editing photos from the Ricoh hahaha
@@alexlubinski7795 I am not sure... But I've been solely shooting in RAW without any of the film simulations. I just think it might be naturally sharp? I don't think it looks artificial at all. Its almost as sharp as the Sony Zeiss 55mm ZA that I have, but at the same time doesn't look as clinically sharp as that lens. Its hard to explain haha.
Bought my GR IIIx a couple years ago, and absolutely love it! Love how sharp my photos turn out, how small and compact it is, and really, my own main two complaints, battery life and no manual focus. Best camera I’ve ever owned!
Your wording, script, editing, music and delivery of the information really makes your THE BEST camera reviewer out here. I'm a huge fan and cannot express enough gratitude that your videos exists. Also I'm a ricoh griii user :)
i was going to pick up a ricoh but ended up getting an x100v off someone nearby. it's my favourite camera of all time. used to have giant SLR's for concert photography, but over the years have been downsizing because i was tired of the bulk. i think these styles of camera are perfect
I rented the GR3x and the x100v for my '1 Place 1 Camera' series and I was absolutely blown away by the quality of the Ricoh's pics when I got them into Lightroom. I was NOT expecting such high quality from that thing. That said, I much preferred the experience of shooting with the Fuji. The Fuji's viewfinder made for the most enjoyable experience I've had with any digital camera. And seeing a little preview of the pictures with a pleasing film recipe right after taking them made it inspiring to take more. I'd love to buy an x100vi someday if I win the lottery 😂
I had a chance to shoot with the GRIIIX for a few hours. I was not expecting the vibrant colors and the sharp images I got. I am a former Fuji shooter and the Ricoh colors OOC looked much better. The lens is insanely sharp too. I have shot with Fuji X100 variants in the past and did not like the experience at all. I might be in a minority here but for stealth street photography, GRIIIX is the clear winner.
Yeah, the GRIIIx sold me on the size without image quality compromises. When I originally started shopping it was X100F through X100VI. TH-cam eventually led me to the GRiiiX and from there I never looked back. Reggie's portra video sealed the deal with me. Plus I enjoy "getting to know" my tech. It gets boring if it all it's greatness isn't something to be discovered or learned. I like flexing those gadget muscles.
It's interesting that you called the Fujifilm X100 to be "the other side" of the Ricoh. I have a black X100V and I use it just like you described the Ricoh. A small, unintrusive, quick camera to take everywhere and take photos of everything. I get that the Ricoh is much "stealthier", but for me, the Fuji is very similar. Great video Becca, thanks bud!
This is one of the rare Ricoh and Fuji reviews on youtube that is refreshing (yes, I've watched them all). I've been a huge fan of Ricohs since the GRIII release and have collected other versions purely of the joy in brings in capturing images. I'm curious about the Fuji, it's a beautiful piece of hardware with a different shooting experience. Some hopes in their popularity: that they become available, that competition inspires other camera makers to throw their hat in this form factor.
I had an x100v. At first I enjoyed it but somehow went off it. Had the GR111 BUT am happiest with the GR111x. It really is pocketable and invisible and the quality of images amazing.
@@LonJuanLatino As I’m sure you know the focal length of the GR111 is 28mm so it’s very wide. It was great in London and for wide architectural shots but I think I had to work quite hard to frame people. Then as soon as I looked through the GR111x the 40mm framing felt more comfortable certainly in terms of portraits. Essentially they are pretty much the same camera. I thought the sharpness on the 28mm was amazing (although that will be the same on both). I paid a bit more for the Urban edition. The finish is much better and less cheap than the normal black one. I hope this answers your question.
I had exactly the same experience as you!! Had the v. Enjoyed it then went off it. Had the GR111 but happiest with GR111x. Very excited to hear what updates are coming with GR 🎉
If the lens is made for the sensor size is it really a cropped sensor camera? If it is what makes "full frame" not cropped compared to medium format or even large format? 35 mm is tiny compared to 6x7 film
@@ErikN1 Come on, we all know that the term "cropped sensor" just refers to being smaller than 35mm film. 35mm film is considered the standard because it's the format that spread and became most commonly used in the film industry as well as in consumer products. Sure, 35mm film is small compared to 6x7. Medium format 6x7 is small compared to "large format" 8x10, and that's small compared to "ultra large format" 20x24 plates
@@sentimentalhermit Yes we know that but I don't think it makes sense to use the term cropped sensor when nothing is being cropped. It made sense back when digital cameras were new and had smaller sensors but used the same lenses that 35 mm film cameras did. You did actually get a cropped frame compared to what you were used to and what the lenses were designed for. I don't think it makes sense anymore. 35 mm isn't the gold standard it used to be and even at the end of the glory days for film, medium format was still the gold standard for professional studio and commercial work.
Great video (as always, Becca)! I lucked out and got my X100VI shortly after release. It’s my first point and shoot in a loooooong time, and been having a blast with it. Loved this comparison because I had never heard of the Ricoh GR before and was cool to learn about a new camera brand.
Who agrees with me? Becca is such such a good presenter. Her friendly tone, bouncy energy, yet still presenting the case with details that matter without bogging everyone down with too much unnecessary info. GO BECCA!
Really well said Becca. I ended up getting the Ricoh GRIII because I could not get the X100V and wanted a faster JPEG workflow than my Sony A7IV and now I cannot see a future where I don't have a Ricoh. The portability alone is the single best feature coupled with the subtle but beautiful picture profiles. However, the tactile experience of Fuji cannot be understated so I'm waiting for the next X-Pro to be released!
How are Beccas reviews ALWAYS the best ones on every tech subject? Beccas videos are so smart and nicely put together. The Verge can never let Becca go.
Very nice and fair review. I have the Ricoh. I disagree that most shooting will be blind. I did by the external viewfinder but rarely use it. I don’t miss the flash that was on earlier models of the GR. I prefer the smaller size of the current version. The feature I like most is snap focus. I use it most of the time.
I just got a Fujifilm XT30 II and it is a game changer for myself. Absolutely loyal to fujifilm at this point. Great work to Becca and all the b.t.s crew !
Yep, great video! Owned a Fujifilm X100V. Absolutely loved it, the looks, the interface, the images, but sold it as I found myself not taking it with me for street photography on a daily basis because of its size. Bought a Ricoh GRIIIx. Hate the interface but once everything is setup, it's absolutely lovely to keep with you at all times and to actually make photo's (and without people noticing you).
You sold me on the Ricoh. From looking at the final images it looked quite a lot sharper. Will I be waiting a long time for the Ricoh Gr4 or should I just get the Griiix?
Fantastic review and comparison Becca! I am a Ricoh GR fan. My most favourite camera of all time that I have owned, was a (35mm film) GR1v. PIN sharp optics. Designed by photographers for photographers. Have a digital GR2 now but have passed on the GR3 and hoping the GR4 has exactly what you have suggested: optical viewfinder (like the GR1v), flash (like all previous GR's!), flip screen (and even a full frame sensor like the GR1v! ) But I think Sony are best placed to do this. They have the budget and know how. Now the RX1 has been discontinued Sony must have noticed the popularity of this market...BUT..here's hoping Ricoh pull a great one out of the bag soon!
Thanks for this really useful review. As a Sigma DP photographer I struggle with any Bayer Sensor camera, because the output of the Foveon is another level. Since the Sigma DP Quattro cameras are really bulky I will opt for the Ricoh GR IIIx because of it's size and I also love the handling of the Ricoh GXR series which I used almost a decade. Your video is a fresh breeze! Thanks again.
Great comparison. Thanks, Becca! I'm in the very fortunate position where I have an X100VI and my wife just got a GR IIIx. Honestly, I love them both, but I probably prefer the 40mm equivalent on the Ricoh as I'm traditionally more of a 50mm shooter. I had the X100V previously (as well a few other Fujifilm cameras), so I'm familiar with it, but I'm also really enjoying shooting with the Ricoh. It truly is the perfect camera to take absolutely everywhere with you, and my wife does exactly that. I know the X100 line is also kind of that, but it was never quite as easy to take everywhere (at least for me) as many people made it out to be. It might fit in a loose jacket pocket, but I found myself either always carrying it with a wrist strap or having it over my shoulder with a regular strap, whereas the Ricoh could comfortably fit in a jeans pocket. It's convenient, but nothing like the Ricoh in that regard. It depends what you're shooting, I guess, but I can definitely agree that the image quality on the Ricoh is incredible. It's way better than I expected it to be, and I've heard people praising it for years. The image quality on the X100VI is incredible, too. At this point, you can just choose which suits your lifestyle best, and you'll win either way.
Great comparison. You mention Reggie's film sim for your U1 slot... but I am interested where the GRii Positive Film simulation that you have in U2 can be found please? Thanks in advance.
I considered both. Went with the Ricoh, ordered today. I have Sony with manual voightlanders, so I get the manual feel. Wanted the portability of the Ricoh, got the GR IIIx HDF.
Update. I also ordered the Fuji XT30 ii. I like manual lenses, each have their own characteristics. Don’t want to be stuck with one focal length. Get the XT30 while you can. Look at the big online retailers, most are out.
As someone who bought the Ricoh GRiiix because of the lack of supply in the x100v I don’t regret my choice at all, it was my first camera other than my phone and it forced me to learn quickly about photography, personally I love to tinker so changing settings was fine; there were plenty of resources online. It’s took a hot minute to set up the way I liked. The shots I get are great and my friends and surprised by how crisp and sharp they are. If I had to pick a fixed lenses camera it’d be this. The Fuji is a great choice but I think for $1600 I’d rather pick up another Fuji with an interchangeable lens.
Nothing like the pocket ability and beautiful images from the Ricoh. Like most, the Fuji and Ricoh were both in my shopping cart undecided till the last minute. It annoys me at times but love using it and making images with it.
So i have both the V and the GRIIIx Love them both for different reasons and use cases. Currently traveling with the Ricoh as I don’t want to stand out. But in my home country I love taking the V with its awesome viewfinder and perfect straight from camera JPGs!
GRIII and GRIIIx - absolutely love them both, but the GRIIIx is my favourite - the 40mm is just that much tighter than the 28mm on the GRIII. When travelling if I need to go somewhere without a bag, or other gear I will always have the GRIIIx in my pocket, always.
Love my GR3x. I have all the mirrorless Sony's but needed something more non-intrusive that i can fit in my pocket. I have zero regrets of picking on up.
I have both. Each has its own benefits, but in the end they both produce wonderful photos. I usually shoot raw on my Sony cameras but it is so much less work to shoot JPG's on both of these. I do shoot RAW+JPG on both but I rarely find it necessary to edit the RAW's. I have made some of my own recipes for the Ricoh and they are similar to the Fuji X100VI.
The most important part about photography is getting that shot. This means availability is key. For me this is why I got the Ricoh. It's a camera that you can easily take with you, thus basically increasing the opportunity for great shots.
Im not a user of GR III but yesterday I went to GR Place Harajuku, working on a video they last month opened 2024/August and honesty to say I stayed away since they were are really expenisive as a point and shoot HOWEVER after trying them out in stores and knowing its an APSC same size as fujifilm... honesty you can print up to A3+ size without losing any detail which is mind blowing. I would buy this instead of the X100VI (which is outrageous), I initially thought of getting a pancake lense for my fujifilm to realize later...wait this compact system pancake setup the ultimate style is definitly using a point and shoot and back when I visited Harajuku GR Place, they were doing Moriyama Daidos exhibition and I understand why the Japanese top artist used the GR during his whole carrier...that size you cannot beat. and after visiting I understand now why they have the 28mm and the 40mm
Really appreciated the viewfinder section. It is amazing how many reviews ignore talking about the viewfinder.... when this is a major part of taking a photo. One thing though, the x100 vf is pretty small and not the greatest.
Please don't make the GR III series more popular. I'm afraid of a X100 level of popularity soon where you can't buy them. Best point and shoot ever made, sharpest lens too its amazing and underrated.
I personally preferred the Ricoh GR system. I had the X100F and sold it for a Ricoh GRIII and loved it even more. I then sold the Ricoh and bought a Leica M10, but got a GRIIIx now. I think the built-in recipes are great so I just shoot jpeg. It's also very easy to carry for those that love having their camera on them at all times and doesn't "look" like it has a detachable lens.
Ricoh GRIIIx user here, and it’s by far the best camera system I’ve ever used. Fuji X100V was fun to play with but the Ricoh is extremely rewarding once you figure it out. Snap focus shits on autofocus and you end up with the fastest, most reliable camera from pocket to picture. The new HDF is an awesome new addition from Ricoh for that built in mist filter!
Out of the two I would take the Ricoh. I shot with the X100V and it is definitely nice, but if I am going that big (i.e. not pocketable)... I prefer the Leica Q3 (obviously different price though), it just put a prime on an interchangeable lens camera. The Ricoh is pretty much a unique offering (although... I will say that a Sony A5100 with the 20mm F2.8 is an interesting consideration because it is is close to being as portable, allows for better shooting from the hip with a flip screen, but sadly does not quite hit it out the park in terms of IQ, or features like set focus distance).
I currently have an xt3 and I've been on the fence about getting the GRIII as a travel camera over the x100vi. this is a very nice comparison video and made me lean towards the Ricoh
How does the iPhone 15 Pro compare to the GR3x? Seems like the phone would do an even better job of being your everyday camera, despite the difference in image quality…
I have a X100s and an XT30 (is smaller than the X100 series) with Fuji 18mm f/2 and Fuji 27mm f/2.8 and the Samyang 12mm f/2 (and a closet full of vintage glass). I love the looks and the dials on the Fuji's and I wanted to shoot more and spend less time behind a computer monitor editing RAW photos, so 99% of the time i shoot SOOC JPGs with the wonderful Fujifilm film simulations and recipes. I mostly shoot documentary style work, some travel, loads of street and some architecture. My experience is that as long as your not hauling big DSLR's with you with large lenses, people don't seem to notice you or ignore you like you are a tourist and they'll go about their business. Yes, even with a Fuji X- series cameras. So in worse case scenario you might not be stealthy with your shiny Fuji, but you're at least undercover! ;) The Ricoh GRIII(x) has been on my radar since it launched. But I think i'll fork out the money for the GRIV if that has weather sealing (if it will ever come out...).
The vast majority of the general population is not able to pick out or even notice any differences in the technical side of things that photographers and videographers absolutely obsess over. One of my sobering moments was when I asked someone that has no idea about cameras at all if they could tell in a multi-cam video shoot what shots were on a proper camera (m43, but still) and what was shot on a Samsung I think S8... captured at 30fps... delivered in a 23.976 timeline... they literally could not tell the difference. It was like a surreal dream, how could they not immediately see the difference! In the final image comparison chapter in this video, I immediately thought that the right images shot on the Fuji looked better color science-wise. And then I realized that at 1:37 that the viewer was not supposed to know which image was which until this point. I actually completely forgot/missed that point, because it was so obvious which one was the Fuji to me, that it didn't even register in my brain that the viewer was not supposed to be aware which camera was which. I just immediately began comparing the 2 images, knowing that the right one is the Fuji, not realizing that I'm not supposed to know that. But yeah, the vast majority of the population will never be able to tell. And that's really been giving me an existential crisis as far as my photo/videography work goes lol
Not only griiix came out last 2021 but it is also based on a much older griii system which came out 2019. So really this camera is about 1-2 generations behind to x100vi.
i own both and i think you are perfectly on point, main difference between these two is the shooting experience you get out of it. My only issue with the GR3/X is the reliability, i have the 3 and 3x and both had to go back for mechanical issues on the lens while i never had any issue with any of the fuji x100 models. Might just be bad luck but still need to be said i think
Cool comparison, but I can't believe there's no mention of Ricoh's sensor dust problems. I love this camera, so very sad to say this is a deal breaker. I had total of 3 different GRs - all developed sensor dust problems within 3-4 months of regular use.
I have had an X100VI on pre order since the first 20min it went live on B&H. Still no word. Honestly wish I just kept some of my previous x100 cameras I’ve had them all. Unfortunately Fuji files still look bad in Lightroom zoomed in showing weird worms. Fuji sims are cool but not film accurate like my presets.
@@venezing$1000 is pretty cheap for a camera and what you get in return. A cheap lens would be $500 or in some cases even $1000 dollars is cheap depending on focal length and aperture. Doesn’t have a lot to do being a tech TH-camr it’s about the value and for a point and shoot that takes such high quality photos in such a small package it’s a great value
No, for a camera (especially of this fidelity and versatility) this is definitely not breaking the bank. Most major camera stores have afterpay programs as well.
GRIIIx snap focus is the essential key feature you missed. And adding an articulating screen and an EVF would fundamentally change the nature of the camera. If you want those, just don't buy it.
I don’t think adding a tilting screen would fundamentally change the GR cameras, as long as it’s done discreetly like on the X100VI, ie without making the camera any bigger. An EVF, sure, maybe, but even then if it’s a popup one like mentioned in the video, that again doesn’t change the size of the camera, it’d be a nice addition.
@BeccaFarsace You are the best Becca. I enjoy and appreciate your content so much - and all aspects of what makes a Becca video a Becca video. Keep it up. Thanks a million!
Love my Canon G1X mark iii. Got mine used and it goes with me everywhere on my hikes and adventures. Weather sealed body, DP autofocus, great controls, viewfinder, 3x IS optical zoom 24-72mm equiv. Nothing against the cameras in this review but there are other great options for pocketable APS-C sensor size cameras. I hope Canon makes a mark iv!
This video makes me to get a Ricoh but then after thinking about spending money, some question came to my mind, these are genuine questions: 1. What do I need a camera when I can use my phone? 2. What do you do with photos(of street/nature) that you take? after a while it become boring to have many photos of walls/trees 3. Would you recommend these camera for family usage? Taking photo of people/kids and events in life?
The only downside to the GRiii is the lack of a viewfinder. The screen is useless in bright sunlight. Other than that, it wins across the board, especially as an EDC that is actually pocketable. I used to own both and never used the X100v. I'd either take the GR or my main camera with interchangeable lenses. I've even taken the GR and nothing else on vacations. The Fuji is now way overpriced for what it is.
Sepia. Let's talk about it, why does it still exist?
My assumption is that it’s just to mimic the sepia toning process of b&w prints.

out of interest, do you use the III or the IIIx?
How much better is pic quality of Ricoh over iPhone?
Looking at the side by side image comparison and not knowing which camera was used I very much preferred the Fuji shots..
Thank you for this wonderful explanation👍

Wow! I just picked up a GRIIIx a week ago. This video has perfect timing for me. This comparison was definitely part of the equation.
GR3x is so underrated its criminal
Tsss. Do you want to get your GR for 2k$?
And Ricoh GR III?
@@Milan-cf1xealso good, but I strongly prefer the 40mm of the X
Is it? Just because it does not get the rabid crowds of tiktokers starting bidding wars .. I never seen anyone dismiss or undervalue the GRIII. Appreciate what you have. I wish the X100* were less over-hyped.
Gr series are not underrated by any means.
The Grs break on their own from dust I had 2 that broke this way
@@youssefmohammed5456 Yep. Sensor dust on the GR series is no joke. I had 3 at various points. Not cool. Other than that - loved them!
Is that from personal experience or here say
@@Mw02veg check Samuel Streetlife vid on the x100vi towards the end he compares the images and the fuji is legit softer.
Do you think that is a matter of a lens Ricoh put in this camera or rather some artificial post-processing that they bake in?
@@alexlubinski7795 I am not sure... But I've been solely shooting in RAW without any of the film simulations. I just think it might be naturally sharp? I don't think it looks artificial at all. Its almost as sharp as the Sony Zeiss 55mm ZA that I have, but at the same time doesn't look as clinically sharp as that lens. Its hard to explain haha.
I sold the x100vi and I keep my gr3. Ricoh is king.
I'd love to buy an x100vi someday if I win the lottery 😂
it realllly comes down to the experience with these systems.
Thank you Becca. This is one of the best comparison videos I've seen yet on these two camera systems. Keep up the good work.
Great vid. I got the GRIIIX for my partner and I find myself borrowing it from her all the time. Crazy quality from such an inconspicuous camera.
What’s the difference between the III and IIIx to you ?
I agree - the finish on the Urban is well worth it. Less cheap
"hi this is Becca with Full Frame at the Verge and today we are reviewing this two cropped sensor cameras" I had to do it. 😅
.. 😅 caught
Lol
@@sentimentalhermit Yes we know that but I don't think it makes sense to use the term cropped sensor when nothing is being cropped. It made sense back when digital cameras were new and had smaller sensors but used the same lenses that 35 mm film cameras did. You did actually get a cropped frame compared to what you were used to and what the lenses were designed for. I don't think it makes sense anymore. 35 mm isn't the gold standard it used to be and even at the end of the glory days for film, medium format was still the gold standard for professional studio and commercial work.
This. I 1000% agree. I couldn’t spend more time learning and tweaking the GRIII, so ended up selling it. I would love to be able to get an X100VI.
Great video (as always, Becca)! I lucked out and got my X100VI shortly after release. It’s my first point and shoot in a loooooong time, and been having a blast with it. Loved this comparison because I had never heard of the Ricoh GR before and was cool to learn about a new camera brand.
I love my GRiiiX it goes with me every where
Who agrees with me? Becca is such such a good presenter. Her friendly tone, bouncy energy, yet still presenting the case with details that matter without bogging everyone down with too much unnecessary info. GO BECCA!
Thanks a lot ,Becca.I just own the ricoh since two days, working on the settings and just felt from the First Moment…I will love it 🤩🙏
Really well said Becca.
Am I studying? Yes. New video by Becca? YESSS. Am I still studying for midterms? No!
How are Beccas reviews ALWAYS the best ones on every tech subject? Beccas videos are so smart and nicely put together. The Verge can never let Becca go.
I find your videos so immediately enjoyable and informative. Thanks!
I cancelled my x100vi preorder and bought a used Ricoh GR IIIx plus leather grip plus extra batteries for 850$, I'm happy :D
Been GR shooter since mk1. Respect fuji, but pocket size of gr is biggest advantage.
As a lifelong Fuji X100 owner, I love the Ricoh GR IIIx. Ricoh has got to come out with the GR lVx, though. C'mon Ricoh! Just do it!
Time after time you make such thoughtful, beautiful videos that are in themselves works of art Becca. You're such an asset to the photography world.
Stealth & true pocketability. EVERY. TIME.
I am a simple man, I see Becca, I click the video. Love your reviews
I remember getting my GRII in 2015 for like… $600? Lightly used. I miss when this category felt like an experiment.
the days of the RX100's and the G7x's too!
Exactly! These cameras are somehow extremely popular and also… really boring? Wish Canon especially hadn’t abandoned it in favor of RF Mount lawsuits.
I’m not a photographer or camera person barely even take photos but your videos are always must watch!
I don't know anything about cameras, but you are such a positive human being! I hope you will always have this attitude to life! Keep smiling :)
Both! From a hardcore Fuji user (that owned a V for the last 4 years) but still lusting for a GR.
I didn’t like becca at first, but (wo)man is she rocking this! Tech edutainment at its finest! Thank you!
So i have both the V and the GRIIIx
Love them both for different reasons and use cases.
Currently traveling with the Ricoh as I don’t want to stand out.
But in my home country I love taking the V with its awesome viewfinder and perfect straight from camera JPGs!
Why did TH-cam recommended me this awesome creator just now!? Verge is lucky to have Becca!
I just sold my GR III for an X100VI. The viewfinder is the main thing I wanted, and I love it.
Becca can really review everything. Definitely one of my favorite tech reviewers ever!
Excellent comparison review 😊. I would buy GRIII tomorrow if there wasn’t that dreadful dust issue 😢. If they ever manage to fix it, I am aboard.
Love my GR3x. I have all the mirrorless Sony's but needed something more non-intrusive that i can fit in my pocket. I have zero regrets of picking on up.
Very Interesting video, loved it.
This is the type of content that I like to watch, I see you growing very fast in this platform.
Great Job
I have both. Each has its own benefits, but in the end they both produce wonderful photos. I usually shoot raw on my Sony cameras but it is so much less work to shoot JPG's on both of these. I do shoot RAW+JPG on both but I rarely find it necessary to edit the RAW's. I have made some of my own recipes for the Ricoh and they are similar to the Fuji X100VI.
Becca, you’re the sunshine of TH-cam ❤❤❤
The most important part about photography is getting that shot. This means availability is key. For me this is why I got the Ricoh. It's a camera that you can easily take with you, thus basically increasing the opportunity for great shots.
Im not a user of GR III but yesterday I went to GR Place Harajuku, working on a video they last month opened 2024/August
and honesty to say I stayed away since they were are really expenisive as a point and shoot HOWEVER after trying them out in stores and knowing its an APSC same size as fujifilm...
honesty you can print up to A3+ size without losing any detail which is mind blowing.
Great non biased video. I was on the hunt for the Vi but scooped up the gr3x instead. So far loving it!
I love your passion, artistry and character, Becca. You're an inspiration
Please don't make the GR III series more popular. I'm afraid of a X100 level of popularity soon where you can't buy them. Best point and shoot ever made, sharpest lens too its amazing and underrated.
Don’t worry, its already happening. Whenever its available it gets sold out quick.
They’ve been sold out for ages.
The Ricoh GR is my favorite camera ever
Becca and Nilay carrying The Verge. Great stuff as always 👌🏼
I randomly found this video and now I'm in love with Becca and her love to photography 😍
Recommend the GR111 x
How does the iPhone 15 Pro compare to the GR3x? Seems like the phone would do an even better job of being your everyday camera, despite the difference in image quality…
Great video Becca. I use a x100v for 3 years now. Ans it’s always a pleasure and a relaxing way to take photos with it. 👍
So in worse case scenario you might not be stealthy with your shiny Fuji, but you're at least undercover! ;)
The Ricoh GRIII(x) has been on my radar since it launched.
Genuine question as a total amateur, where can I go and find/look at the respective fanbases? Each other's subreddits?
Not only griiix came out last 2021 but it is also based on a much older griii system which came out 2019. So really this camera is about 1-2 generations behind to x100vi.
i own both and i think you are perfectly on point, main difference between these two is the shooting experience you get out of it. My only issue with the GR3/X is the reliability, i have the 3 and 3x and both had to go back for mechanical issues on the lens while i never had any issue with any of the fuji x100 models. Might just be bad luck but still need to be said i think
More Becca please :) Every video is just so comforting to watch ❤
How is either of these, which are point and shoots, affordable?
Becca, please make your own channel if you don’t have one already! Love your enthusiasm
Becca is such a great reviewer - great content with effortless charm
Great review! Glad I found you. I look forward to more videos from you!
'who don't want to break the bank' yes, $1000 isn't breaking the bank
Canon t7 + 24f2.8 = 600$ max and pretty compact
I was going to comment this lol. These tech reviewers have different definitions of "breaking the bank'
Tech reviewers don't pay for gear and it shows
@@venezing$1000 is pretty cheap for a camera and what you get in return.
@@caerphotosome people are afraid of change. I agree with you. I have the V and the tilt screen is a key feature I would not want to live without/
@BeccaFarsace You are the best Becca. I enjoy and appreciate your content so much - and all aspects of what makes a Becca video a Becca video. Keep it up. Thanks a million!
what a smart, simplified and fun review. you rock bud!
Great and fair review, thank you! Both cameras are fantastic! Got the Fuji, but once the GR4 is out there, I will buy that one as well!
This video makes me to get a Ricoh but then after thinking about spending money, some question came to my mind, these are genuine questions:
1. What do I need a camera when I can use my phone?
2. What do you do with photos(of street/nature) that you take? after a while it become boring to have many photos of walls/trees
