  • Join us on this adventure fishing for trout in Algonquin. We spend the day in Algonquin Park's backcountry paddling, portaging and fishing for trout. We enjoy the peacefulness of Algonquin's wilderness while fishing for trout in some beautiful areas. We get lucky and enjoy catching some aggressive Lake Trout and Brook Trout. Overall this was an excellent day fishing for trout in Algonquin Park.

    Nice to see those brookies being released . But would like to see you switch over to single hooks on your lures. Nice thing about covid closing the park to camping is fishermen unable to fish many lakes giving the specks and lakers a chance to grow

      I have a deep water trolling rod with leadcore,15lbs test I think. I use it mostly for lake trout. I will also use my spinning rod with some split shot to troll for Brook Trout. Thanks for watching!

    Beautiful fish, very nice that you crimp your barbs, when I fished I did the same. :) I attended a seminar given by a marine biologist/veterinarian where he explained pain in fish and that they do experience it. It kinda ended my fishing career but always appreciate humane fishing practices. Thanks to you and Paige for sharing your wonderful paddling and fishing day. :) :)

    • @AleconAdventures
      @AleconAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was hesitant to pinch my barbs at first, thinking that I would lose more fish but it doesn't seem to be the case. The hooks come out easily once the fish are landed with less harm to the fish. I mostly fish for trout which are sensitive and I feel much better releasing them now. I can't wait to get out camping again but for now day trips will have to do. Thanks for watching Jacqueline!👍

    That is some nice fishing by that rapid. Just watching videos starting to plan a trip this spring. For hooks I tend to replace trebles with a single hook but not pinch a barb. Trebles without barbs seem to pop out too easily and still rip up their mouth with the extra points. I also hate losing lure to snags and single hook seems to help with that

    • @AleconAdventures
      @AleconAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว

    Going to Algonquin (Farm Lake) This weekend. It will be my first time fishing for trout. What lures/bait you would suggest to use and where to find them ? and if you have any tips/advices, it would be greatly appreciated.

    • @AleconAdventures
      @AleconAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delayed reply. I hope your Algonquin trip was a good one! When fishing for Lake Trout I use an assortment of Spoons, sometimes topped with a worm, and I troll in my canoe. Lake Trout sit very deep so it's important to get your line deep. In this video we were just using Spinners to catch Brook Trout. Thanks for watching!
