Seriously, I think Ashley could start a business selling her dehydrated meals. They look so mouth watering good. Definitely better than the Mountain House packages I get for my backpacking trips.
Thank Jon. Appreciate it. We were fairly lucky that the water was calm….made it quite a bit easier to get some decent footage (although the dogs moving around always makes things interesting). Hope you had a great Christmas and all the best to you and Erin in 2023.
I watch these types of videos because I am 80 & have no practical access anymore. This is by far one of the best. You got to make more. Such a pleasant voice & observations
I normally don't watch videos like these but this was just beautiful and so calming. Maybe that's because we're in the midst of winter right now, but I think I'd feel the same even if it were summer. The birdsong, scrambling ducklings, beavers, majestic moose... very grounding and a perfect destressor after a day at the office. You're are beautiful couple, thank you for this video, it was healing :)
I love how respectful you are toward the environment. You were gentle and respectful with the moose skull and I don’t know why but that just struck me. Lovely video.
Merci... Merci pour vos superbes vidéos.... Un vrai plaisir.... Continuez à me faire rêver....
I have seen several calves while hunting and on vacation up around Timmins but have never seen a male calf still that small with antlers already growing! Awesome!
Always nice to see moose on any trip. I actually didn't notice the antlers on that small bull....I'll have to go back and watch the video. Thanks for pointing that out!
Gobsmacked you two!! Moose, loons & chicks, beaver, great blue heron I believe, more moose WOW. Thank you for this amazing footage. The dogs are SO good as well. I have the same sea to summit bowls and love the thumb grip ;-) What a treat this was 💜 and I can see why Jon loved it as well!! THANK YOU, Barret
I am not sure that people understand how very likely it is to see a moose in Algonquin. My sons saw their first ones on a trip out of Kiosk. I shared a cow visit with my dad one year, then a bull was in our path when we headed up to Big Crow the next year, plus a cow and calf the next day. If you go there, into the back country. You will see them, and it probably will not take two visits to see your first one. It is a wondrous site. The beaver, canada geese, loons, great heron, chipmunks, raccoons, and porcupines are all extra, no charge. Thanks for taking us on this trip.
my son and I enter in at the Rain Lake access point (West), have been 3 years now. Year #1 on Rain Lake, #2 on Islet, #3 on Sawyer. We've seen (in order) a chipmunk, a rabbit being chased/hunted by a pair of martin/weasel type animal, loons, and last year a curious/hungry young black bear on our site on Sawyer. But the we have yet to see the majestic moose. Maybe our trip to Bandit Lake next week will be our lucky trip. Wish us luck.
I recall, a drive down the highway through Algonquin, and at the base of a hill I saw some cars pulled over and people looking towards a large marsh, I looked to the right, and I saw what appeared to be a black couch floating across the reeds.. And realized it was a moose of epic proportion walking through the marsh, its legs not visible but its body was massive ... So if you ever get the chance to drive through Algonquin, look out for BIG sofas..😎
Thanks again Guys. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🎊. Question ❓ Ashley ever thought about making an eBook? "Canoe the North, Dehydrated meals"??? Have fun Guys.
Hi Doug. We have tossed that idea around before. We are actually starting to work on a website so we will see if we could get a online cookbook together. Appreciate the idea 💡.
Not enough words to describe such beauty!! You guys do an amazing job capturing nature in its fullness. Oh how I hope your channel explodes with new viewers, you so deserve it. Such a treat to watch in the cold of winter. Hit that "like" button all who are watching let's get these videos out there for Keenan & Ashley! Happy New year to you all!!
I sincerely apologize for my previous comment. I have deleted it. It was unnecessary and rude if me. Take good care and Happy New Year. All the best to you and happy travels. ❤️
That is a pile of Moose! We have seen our share of Moose but never that many in such a short time span. Always a joy to watch your trips and share your perspective of mother nature.
I found you through Xander's channel and I am constantly blown away watching your videos. The intros are stunning, the music is immersive, and I can lose myself in these videos so easily. You guys should have like 10x your current subs, keep up the amazing work.
Couldn’t ask for a nicer comment to receive. Sincerely appreciate you taking the time to send this message. Lots more to come and glad your enjoying the videos. 🛶 🙏
Beauty, ahh so nice to see and hear the spring birds, the bugs didn’t seem to bad either. We’re snowshoeing into our camp tomorrow morning, stay till New Years. 1.5 km walk in but, just like your trip here,so very worth the effort. Merry Christmas, all the best in 2023, we look forward to your trips. Take care. , Bob
TH-cam recommended your channel, and I’m glad they did. Me and my husband are watching your videos, we’ve subscribed and look forward to more videos. I love seeing moose because I think they’re my spirit animal.
Wow! We went to Algonquin in the past summer and were totally amazed by the beautiful nature. After this wonderful video I want to go back right now! Beautiful pictures! 🤩
I had to laugh when I saw you and Ashley enjoying that beautiful evening on Big Bob. I have stayed there twice and both times the winds were so bad I set up the tarp as a wind break. And yes a trip to Algonquin doesn't seem complete w/o a moose sighting.
Hahah ya I can picture that site in the wind but we were fortunate. Thanks very much Doug. Hopefully next time you stay on big Bob it treats you a little better
It is amazing that you guys saw so many moose and got them on film in one area during a single trip! Plus beavers, blue heron , mergansers, loons ! The lakes and rivers of that area are truly beautiful , and your photography documents it very well. Thank you both so much for sharing. I've only seen one moose in my life, a cow moose , on the Golden Rd. near Millinocket Maine and Mt. Katahdin. It was at night on our way back to our campsite after indulging on a dinner at a local restaurant . It was pretty awesome! I always hope to see them when I go up there. I've seen herds of deer/ in April , but the Moose elude me. I live on the coast in Southern New England, it's pretty populated down here so, no moose. We do have many deer , black bears, bob cats and beaver in the state forests mostly . I'm going to renew my passport this year and plan to visit Canada in the future! last time I was there, we didn't need passports, I proposed to my wife at Niagara Falls!!! Lol thx again mate!
Those were the days when all you needed was a drivers license to get across the border. Different time. Hope you get the chance to come up north and see some more moose! 🫎 lots of them here that’s for sure. Thanks very much for the comment. 🇺🇸 🇨🇦
So beautiful. Your videos are a form of meditation and just what I needed hunkering down in the cold and planning for the coming season! I was in the West Arm of Opeongo and Hailstorm Creek this past August and didn’t see a single moose. This was truly a special trip!
Hope your trip planning is coming along. Appreciate the comment very much. Hope you get to see some moose on your next tour in Algonquin (or wherever else you paddle).
THX Keenan and Ashley! Some folks paddle for years and seldom see a moose. You guys hit the jackpot and the variety of wildlife was spectacular. You made my day with this video!!! CHEERS!!!
Thank you Ian. We definitely got lucky on this tour. I don’t know if we will ever quite have another trip like this one. Appreciate the comment as always.
Thank you for bringing back fond memories of my own paddling adventures in Algonquin Park some 20 years ago! My greatest wildlive encounter was on a narrow winding stretch of (I believe) Tim River, where a moose cow and her little calf blocked our way for what seemed like an eternity, causing a traffic jam of three or four boats, all of us waiting patiently and in quiet awe for her to finally move on. It’s nice to see that not a whole lot has changed in 20 years. I‘d love to go back and show my daughters this beautiful landscape one day, but living in Switzerland now, Algonquin is kinda far away…
Thanks very much Katharina. Yes you are certainly a little ways from algonquin but in a very beautiful country. Hope you make it back to Algonquin someday. Appreciate the comment very much.
I am so glad one of your videos showed up in my feed last week. I have been watching one or two every evening because I find them so incredibly beautiful and relaxing. My outdoor adventure days are long behind me now because my legs are ruined with arthritis, but at least by watching your videos I can take pleasure in just knowing that these places are out there.
Hey Steve. Thank you very much for the comment. Glad you two enjoyed the video. When Ashley and I were really getting into backcountry camping, canoeing, and backpacking we couldn’t get enough of watching your videos. Appreciate the support and maybe we will “see you on the trail” one day 🛶.
That’s very cool to hear Dan. Hopefully your kids will get as lucky as we did and see a pile of moose on their adventures. Happy new year to you and your family.
New subscriber 😊. Glad I found your channel. Great video and narration. Nothing against the “guys” who go on similar adventures but I do enjoy seeing couples enjoying their time together doing what they enjoy. Beautiful Newfoundland dog. Is your other dog a healer?
Thanks Jacqueline. Yes this trip was something else. I actually started laughing when I saw that last moose in the parking lot. Couldn’t believe it. Happy new year to you and yours!
Looks like an amazing trip! My wife and I have been to different parts of Algonquin a few times. Even saw a black bear swimming across the lake one time. I don’t mean for this next comment to be critical and understand why you did it. But, there was something that seemed off. while I was watching some of the scenes and I suddenly realized that I was hearing so many birds chirping in the background. I realized that you had dubbed that over top some of your video. I completely understand why. Algonquin could be extremely and eerily quiet. Just thought it was funny that I caught that. Again, beautiful job filming and what a great trip.
You've got a good ear Marc! That's the first comment that's pointed that out. We were actually having some trouble with our mic on that trip so I needed something to make the quiet scenes sound more natural but I guess Ill have to do a better job of making it seem more natural. Thanks very much for the comment and good ear again!
Thanks for taking us along on another stellar adventure. I hope you both had a Merry Christmas. I'm sure looking forward to your adventure quests in 2023. Cheers to you both.
I just recently discovered your awesome channel. I find I am binge watching! You tell, record and photograph such beautiful and relaxing stories! Although I enjoy your solo trips, I gravitate to those of you and Ashley. What a delightful and endearing team! Thanks!
Thanks Teunis. Ya that guy was a tank. He didn’t stick around very long but man what a beast. Merry Christmas and happy new year to you guys. (That other belt Brit made was even more beautiful than the first one btw). 🛶 🎄
Gorgeous film! Beautiful creatures especially the mobs of tiny baby waterbirds. I particularly loved the forest and lakes and rivers. The largest of the dogs fooled me into thinking you had a pony with you when viewed from behind! And something I always love about your beautiful videos is your gentle and kind personalities . Love to you both. 💜
Wow guys just brilliant , you two are just great. so peaceful .. what do you call 2 or 3 mosses together ?? is it a heard never see more than 2 together hey , and the baby loons so cool what a beauty trip , love Candida thanks for all you do , happy new year guys all the best to you and yours ...
Happy new year to you as well "c ya round". Appreciate the support and your comments. We loved seeing those baby loons as well. It was really cool to see them.
Loved the video, thanks for sharing. Wonderful video of the wildlife in the park. Your video brought back memories of my own canoe trip in that area in 2021. I've done those two beastly portages, I was solo. Don't think I'd do them again, but Devine was beautiful....so you never know!
Thanks Mark. Ya those portages are brutal (especially that 2.7km one). Good one you for tackling those ones. I don’t think we will be repeating them either 😂. Happy paddling in 2023 🛶
@Canoe The North I most definitely plan to. We do a big 2 week family fishing trip in Ontario every year... well almost every year. And after watching you, John, and Xander I've got a fee locations out that way that I plan on doing for sure.
Seriously, I think Ashley could start a business selling her dehydrated meals. They look so mouth watering good. Definitely better than the Mountain House packages I get for my backpacking trips.
Thanks Jim. They are really really good. Completely changed the way we eat in the backcountry. Can’t go back to the mountain house meals.
Terrific production. Incredible wildlife footage and incredibly stable
Thank Jon. Appreciate it. We were fairly lucky that the water was calm….made it quite a bit easier to get some decent footage (although the dogs moving around always makes things interesting). Hope you had a great Christmas and all the best to you and Erin in 2023.

Hi Troy. Thank you very much for the nice words on the video and the channel. Really do appreciate you taking the time to send us the nice messages.

Thank you very much Irene.

I’ve been paddling for over 50 years now. And, better than most, you guys show why the pull of the paddle stays with you. Thanks so much.
Thank you so much Alex. Greatly appreciated.
Already counting down the days until ice out.
Wonderful video.
We are right there with you!!!! I never like wishing time away but I keep dreaming of that open water.
Spectacular footage. Thanks.
Thank you too!
Awesome video. Thank you and thank you for not overlaying it with music. I got to enjoy your experience in the peace and quiet due to this. ❤
Thanks Yvonne. Glad you enjoyed this video.
So relaxing almost feel asleep watching.
Another good one. Thanks.
Thanks very much Gary.
Wow and to think I have not seen a moose on a trip in over 10 years... Thanks for sharing guys
Thanks Dennis. We got lucky on this trip. Hope you get to see some moose next season. Your due for some! Happy new year 🥳 🛶

We love those thumb grips. So handy. We got really lucky on this trip with all of the wildlife. Thanks very much for the kind words Barret.
I did the tim river solo, you captured this adventure beautifully
Thanks Amanda. It’s a beautiful part of Algonquin. Hope you enjoyed the Tim as much as we did.
I thoroughly enjoyed this!!!!🥰❤

Absolutely magnifiicent moose footage! Not to mention the mergansers! I wish you would do a video of your camera gear!
Thanks paddle runner. Maybe one day I'll put together a camera video but truthfully I don't think it really matters what camera you're using.
I admire your dogs, so calm and quiet. Great video.
Thanks Margaret. They are 2 great dogs. Amazing companions on canoe trips.
Fabulous pictures. The wildlife and scenery spectacular.
Thank you so much.
Moose on the loose for sure, enjoyed and we are looking forward to seeing your winter adventures… well done
Thanks very much Jim. Should have lots of winter stuff this year…also have a few big summer trips to work through as well. Lots more to come.
Another excellent video folks, it was like being there sans bugs....thank you for sharing these wonderful journeys with us!
Thanks Lewis. Glad you enjoyed this one. Can’t believe I’m wishing there were bugs out right now but I cannot wait for

They are cute little things aren’t they. We were happy to see them as well. Glad you enjoyed seeing them as much as we did.

Thanks Jacqueline. Yes this trip was something else. I actually started laughing when I saw that last moose in the parking lot. Couldn’t believe it. Happy new year to you and yours!

Happy New Year to you too.
amazing, thanks for taking us along.
Our pleasure!
You guys always have such fantastic films, thanks for all your hard work and for doing such a great job,
Thank you Jacqui. We enjoy making these videos and are glad you enjoy watching.
Just what I needed for a cold winter day.
Hope you enjoyed. Merry Christmas Jason.
Thanks for taking us along on another stellar adventure.
I hope you both had a Merry Christmas.
I'm sure looking forward to your adventure quests in 2023.
Cheers to you both.
Thanks very much paul. Hope you had a great Christmas and wishing you a great 2023.
I just recently discovered your awesome channel. I find I am binge watching! You tell, record and photograph such beautiful and relaxing stories! Although I enjoy your solo trips, I gravitate to those of you and Ashley. What a delightful and endearing team! Thanks!

Amazing! What a treat guys, especially that mature Titan near the end of your trip🐮Thanks for sharing!😊
Thank you Barbara. Our big dogs reminds us of a pony as well! 😂. Appreciate the comment very much.
Happy paddling in 2023 🛶
Beautiful trip! Algonquin Park is Definitely on my buck list.
You’ll have to visit the park. It’s a beautiful place to explore.
@Canoe The North I most definitely plan to. We do a big 2 week family fishing trip in Ontario every year... well almost every year. And after watching you, John, and Xander I've got a fee locations out that way that I plan on doing for sure.
Magical! Always love your videos. Great work on putting this one together.
Thank you very much! Really appreciate you watching.
👍👍Simply breathtaking⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
