- Yeah, for some reason Discord users think it's smart to scam a billion dollar company...
For the uninitiated, there are servers on Discord that exist solely to scam Amazon through retail fraud. And the way they do that is through fraudulent returns. This Discord server intentionally messes up refunds so that users can get Amazon products for free.
Sike, not for free kiddo. These Discord scammers want their cut and they will charge you for the service. However with claims of things for 80% off, is this too good to be true?

You don't root for either as these scammers just make legitimate refunds more frustrating for everyone else.
I think we're meant to enjoy stories like this in the same way we might enjoy an episode of IASIP

Thats like having someone steal 0.0002p from your $100 if $100 was all you had; I certainly wouldn't care like I'm sure Amazon doesn't care about the money lost.

That trolling scammers section is the most incredible thing I have watched in ages. I now want NTTS to do more of that kind of content.
Just letting you know, retail fraud is unfortunately much safer than you may think because of a thing called "drop addresses". Basically, people use addresses that are abandoned etc. and request the packages to be dropped at the front porch, for example. Then the only thing they need is a ski mask and the package is successfully stolen.
In some countries there are Amazon boxes where you can send your package to some sorta automated locker. Which, as expected, is also Anonymous although they have cameras.

In my country orders are only received by hand if you don't show up for your order it will be sent back and you have to wait another day ( they usually call before hand to let you know they are coming)

often investigators already know what you did but don't pursue immediately, they may watch you for a while, sometimes even years. Also they can take over these communities and pretend to be the scammers. You think ur good till they show up at your door to take you to jail one day out of the blue.
They won't randomly take you to jail. It isn't a SWAT raid that will happen. What WILL happen is that they itemise every stolen item and then send you a letter of "By the way we are sueing you for these amounts. Here's the lawyer speaking to you and a date for us to meet at court", usually after you reach a certain point where it becomes "Worth it" to sue.
What happens after the trial, is entirely up to debate. However prison is a likely outcome. Obviously if you try to dodge the trial, THEN things become more consequential

It's kinda roundabout but I imagine it's not particularly difficult to make it nigh impossible for an investigator to even find out you bought anything through people like this, and it's probably not worth their time if you only got an item or two

yeah that's why using discord for any of this is a terrible idea. Most of the time they use Telegram which is more secure.

Just a notif for people here, most of the time when amazon do a refund it doesn't come out of their pocket. But instead directly from the seller.
That's why amazon has become such cheap shit with most big sellers pulling out
wrong, these methods only work with products that are sold by amazon. It is written under the buy button if its sold by amazon or by a seller

To make matters worse. If the sellers of these products are third party sellers…. Amazon doesn’t take the financial hit. The third party seller does, which in most cases are small businesses barely making it.
90% of methods are used on products sold by amazon only because doing it with sellers is way more of a hassle as investigations have to be processed before a refund. Whereas amazon absolutely don't care. Also a lot of refund services refuse to refund products from third party sellers

man, I've said to amazon a £40 hose broke when it didnt and got a refund... this is on another level. Hard to have any sympathy for Amazon when even £4m isn't even a drop in the tank. However, this is still a very stupid position to put yourself into as it's not just Amazon you're dealing with, it's the courts, and once you're in the courts, your life is over and you'll forever have 'Crimial' over your name on file (not literally, idk where its written lmao).
Just for comparisons sake at how little $4M is to Amazon. $4m is 0.00026% of Amazon's current net worth of $1.524 TRILLION. If you had $100, that's only 0.0002p. I'm certain Amazon doesn't care about the losses. I'm sure they'll lose more on stocking toilet paper this quarter.

As awful as big-name corporations are, at least they actually provide you the product and the option to refund. These scammers should be absolutely taken to court... if only Discord would actually do something about it to cut it off at the pass before they get themselves in trouble for "allowing" retail fraud.
Especially with those server list sites, they should just make their own server list in Discord itself.
